The amenities that were listed in the info were not accurate! It said they had a washer and dryer but there was not one. We had to go buy new clothes to wear. I message manger about it and never heard back. No wash cloths either for the body to shower with so we had to buy those too! Other than that a super clean and good stay. In a njce neighborhood too!
cabin was clean and stocked with everything we needed for a relaxing stay! The coffee pot was difficult to figure out but that could be user error
also note that the air conditioning is a window unit in the loft, not central AC. It was totally fine and we were comfortable the entire weekend despite it being hot and muggy outside
loved the cute fire pit with lighting, towels were big and fluffy and beds were all comfy!
The cottage is accurately represented on the listing. It was impeccably, clean, and in great condition. They even had certain items stocked such as toilet paper, trash bags and tinfoil.
We sat around the fire both nights and dropped our boat in at the South State Park, which is right down the road. Everything went exactly as planned.
We would highly recommend looking this cottage for your next getaway.
This cottage was beautifully designed with plenty of room for our family of four. The positives were the very comfortable beds, modern-rustic design, ample soap, shampoo, conditioner, clean white towels, board games, appliances, all in a quiet, wooded setting.
The negatives were that we didn’t get a code for access prior to check in until I texted the property manager hours after the check in time and the cottage was not fully clean (hair in upstairs bed, dead bugs on floor, and crumbs on the kitchen floor). The owners offered to send the cleaners back, which we appreciated, though they weren’t able to come back until the day we were checking out so they offered a $50 discount. Perhaps this was an anomaly. Despite these challenges, we appreciate the owners and property manager being accessible.

The property is surrounded by trees, so very difficult to see any of the sky. There was a cleaniness issues in the bathroom, issues with having places to hang towel, toilet paper holder was pulled away from the wall, issues with accessing the automatic door lock (which would not open or lock with in 1 min of opening the door), and very limited supplies in the kitchen. My sister thought the TV was extremely small and was upset that only wifi TV was available - she is a big football fan. The heat was easy to work and over all everything else was clean and working. The couch could use an ottoman, which would have made relaxing on the couch easier. The property manager was responsive and showed up with in a reasonable time the 2 times we needed her to come over. She did offer give was some money for dinner for our trouble with the dirty bathroom which was nice. We did have a conversation about dangerous broken metal rebar sticking off the top of septic cover which is right off where you park that my sister cut her foot on as it was very dark when we arrived. There is window air conditioner in the top part of the A frame, which I'm glad we did not need. If I went back to the area I would probably look for a different rental for more outdoor space and amenities.
My wife and I absolutely loved our stay at this property! Everything was thoughtfully considered, from the design to the amenities. Plenty of space for my wife and I, we even could have comfortably shared with another family. We’re already looking forward to coming back in the future!
It exactly what I expected. Loved looking out the windows in the morning. Seeing the sunrise on the trees. Love the decor, stylish but not the same from everywhere else. Had a great time there.

As a family of four with two young kids, we love to travel and experience new places. We are local Michiganders and love being outside, traveling, and watching our kids experience new things.
Why they chose this property
With a love for houses, design, and Northern Michigan, this A-Frame was the perfect place to restore and turn into a great home away from home for our family of four. We wanted to share the renovations, coziness, and experience with guests to enjoy as much as we have.
What makes this property unique
The A-Frame is in a great location, smack dab in the middle of Higgins Lake and Houghton Lake. South Higgins Lake launch and state park is a 5 minute drive north, and the Higgins Lake boat launch is about 10 minutes south. Not only can you enjoy the lake life, but also experience trails & hiking, the great golf courses near by, hunting, and ice fishing/snowmobiles in the winter.
