We LOVED our time at this Chappy getaway! It was exactly what we needed and more! The home was comfortable with all the amenities (and more!) that you could need/want in a stay - especially a stay with a 7 year-old. The home was conveniently located, easily accessible and close to the bay which we visited every day. The sunsets were impeccable and the view was perfection. We will certainly be staying here again!Thank you!

The drop-dead gorgeous view from the second floor porch is truly what makes this home stand out from all the others. You can sit on the porch and look out over Katama Bay and shoreline and not have to go anywhere else -- you are on vacation ! In fact, the entire second floor offers beautiful, scenic views with windows all around. We found it fascinating to sit there during a rain storm and watch the lightening show. As you might have guessed the house is an upside down design. The second floor, as you prob have gathered, is really special. The first floor is clean, tidy, and nice but the second floor steals the show. The first floor deck is also spacious and most of it is shaded, which is great on really hot days. We found our host, Erica, to be very helpful with a few little things that came up. The kitchen area is tight but completely workable. The dining area is great with a plenty big table and there's a glassed in alcove with a smaller table where my husband liked to have his breakfast and read his book. One of the nice things about this house is that there was space for the seven us (including a toddler) to hang out comfortably together or go off on our own for some alone time. Running out of space but want to mention: Walking up the sandy road to breath-taking Wasque with its crashing waves, swimming in the pond at Wasque, watching the ospreys and the sandpipers, riding bikes down to the ferry, visiting East Beach, taking outdoor showers, etc.

Million dollar view from the top floor living room/kitchen & deck. Upper deck is large enough to enjoy family meals from. Property is a five-min walk to the bay for swimming in calm (and very warm) waters. East Beach/Leland for ocrean swimming is deserted even in high season and can be easily biked to or is just a short car ride away. Chappy ferry also easily bikeable, maybe 4-miles or so. All in all a very relaxing stay and host was great for providing suggestions. After experiencing the crowds of Edgartown and the other down-island towns it was so nice to escape and come home to Chappy for peace & quiet. Slip Away Farm was a lovely little market in an ancient one-room schoolhouse. Definitely ride your bikes out to Wasque Point and walk the trails there. There were two additional bikes on the property that we used almost every day as there were six of us who had brought 4-bikes with us. The sand on the dirt roads can sometimes get a little deep and the trails are rocky if you have a road bike, but they're totally manageable even if you've got thin tires meant for asphalt. The house itself is nicer than everything we saw in this price point. While not luxurious by any means, it was comfortable. There are some neighboring houses, but we never really heard much from them except for maybe 1-2 evenings towards the end of our stay when they were entertaining for dinner. Was never a problem and you really do feel pretty secluded here.

Ideal Chappy Location

A great location to enjoy Chappaquiddick. Easy access to a small beach at the end of the road and Wasque reservation about 3-4 minutes up the road. Also easy bike ride to a farm stand and to the ferry to Edgartown where you can easily walk to Stop&Shop. A great low-key, relaxing vacation.

The sunsets were spectacular! Felt like home. Very comfortable and had everything we needed. Just an FYI: Some of the window hardware was stripped and difficult closing the windows especially the right one where the round table is. The sliding door near the kitchen would also get stuck and hard to close. The fire detector was missing in the living/kitchen area.

Serene getaway in an idyllic location! Our family spent a week at this property in mid-August and found it to be just right for everyone - our young kids loved all the toys, games and the trampoline, and the adults loved the great natural lighting (thanks to all those skylights) and the gorgeous views from upstairs and the balcony. It’s definitely a commitment to stay on Chappaquiddick instead of the main island (Chappy Ferry wait times were often between 25-60 mins and the ferry crew told us at one point during a period of high winds that if we crossed they might not be able to get us back that night and maybe not even the next day), so make sure you’re prepared for that. On the upside, staying on Chappy gives you easy access to gems like Wasque Point, Mytoi gardens Leland/East Beach, plus the lovely beach just a short walk down the road from the property. Erica was a great host - she even let us access the property early when our flight was rescheduled for an earlier time. Highly recommended!

Listing doesn’t do it justice

This house was so beautiful- everything was thought of too. There were extra towels, plenty of pots, even a decent knife to cut with (you never find that in rental homes). The listing doesn’t do the view justice. If you don’t know Chappaquiddick, make sure to bring all your groceries! The ferry back to Edgartown is long! So pack a cooler, and just prepare to enjoy the proximity to some of the most beautiful and least populated beaches. The house was so well set up for kids (maybe not babies, bc of the stairs) but it was so perfect for our 3-4 year olds. And the outdoor shower really helped to keep the house sand free. Erica was so responsive- you could really tel they wanted us to have a great time. And we had a FANTASTIC time. Can we book for next summer now?

An Island Respite

We visited Martha's Vineyard for the African American Film Festival in August. The home fit our family/ friends comfortably and my son who is 2 enjoyed the trampoline very much. It is a very short walk to the beach which was heavenly. The photos do not do the home justice. The views are incredible. We enjoyed rainbows and sunsets from any of the three balcony/ patio spaces. Communication with the owners was seamless. One thing to note is that if you stay in this area you MUST have a car. No uber/ lyfts and the ferry lines can get long early morning and through the afternoon. Like up to a 1.5 hour wait. Also be sure to bring your food in with you from Stop & Shop (no delivery) or order beforehand from New England Country Mart which delivers to Chappy on Thursdays. Staying on Chappaquidick (Chappy) is worth it, but do a good amount of research beforehand to better understand getting on and off the island and to the other areas of MV. If you want a remote get away. This is definitely it. In all, this place is worth it.
