Perfect base camp

This Rustic Retreat was located in a spot between everything we wanted to do. 30min from Yosemite Valley or Mariposa Grove. Seven miles from tunnel view. Price, location and amenities were ideal making it a perfect base camp for rest, meals, and family time.

Perfect base for visiting Yosemite

This is a great place to stay when visiting Yosemite. We spent 3 days looking around Yosemite Valley, Wawana, Tenaya Lake and other areas around Yosemite. While the decor and facilities are more on the vintage side, the cabin has everything you need for a short stay. We cooked twice and everything we needed was there. The balcony is a great place to sit out and chat in the evening and the living room is a fantastic indoor space. The washer/dryer are amazing. The shower is a bit weak but good enough. We went in Summer and the air conditioning provided welcome relief from the 37c/99f temperatures outside. The location is perfect and we even saw a couple of bears on Henness Ridge Drive. We really enjoyed our stay in Yosemite and Rustic Retreat provided the ideal place to stay while we were there.

This is an adequate house for two couples, or a small family who want to stay in the park. It is not a "high end" property. We had two couples, and one of the couples had to use the bathroom downstairs (only one bath up). Although it is in the park, the location is awkward - it is at the very end of the last street in the neighborhood - a winding 5 minute drive around and around. There is no view. The house is surrounded by stumps and debris on a hillside. The kitchen is well equipped, there is plenty of coffee (yeah) and it does have a great grill! But you are paying a lot for what you get.
