The South Loop is one of Chicago`s most dynamic neighborhoods, blending world-class attractions, rich history, and vibrant city life.
To the east, you`ll find the Museum Campus, home to the Field Museum, Shedd Aquarium, and Adler Planetarium, all set along the scenic lakefront. Nearby is Grant Park—Chicago`s `front yard`—which hosts major events like Lollapalooza, Taste of Chicago, and the Chicago Blues Festival. Also in the area are Northerly Island, Soldier Field, and McCormick Place, the nation`s largest convention center.
The neighborhood is equally rich in history. Motor Row and Prairie Avenue showcase Chicago`s past, including the former `Millionaire`s Row` of grand 19th-century mansions. In nearby Printer`s Row, historic publishing buildings have been transformed into lofts, while independent bookstores, restaurants, theaters, music venues, and museums continue to give the area its unique character.
Our home is centrally located and within easy walking distance of the Harrison and Roosevelt CTA stations. We generally recommend skipping a rental car and exploring the city by foot, public transit, or rideshare.
*There is a flight of stairs to access the elevator

Q: When can I check in or check out? A: Check in is 4pm and check out is 10am. Early check ins can be difficult if there are guests who checked out same day. We ask for an early check-in, or a late-check out fee, if you request either.

Q: What about parking? A: We don’t recommend driving because we are so centrally located. You may find a lot or garage nearby for $18-30 / night. There are multiple garages or valet services within 2 blocks.
Q: Is the place professionally cleaned between guests? A: Yes, and we take pride in providing a clean home for guests.
Q: What`s my total booking price? A: We honestly have no idea. With fees included, it only shows the guest how much they pay. This figure should be present after you enter your dates. Note that, pricing varies on a daily basis, and it actually uses some crazy algorithm to adjust it automatically, so I don`t actually control this.
Q: Are the beds comfortable? A: Very. Some guests say they`re the best they`ve ever slept on!
No Agency Relationship. Nothing herein contained shall be deemed to authorize or empower either party to act as agent for the other party to this Agreement, or to conduct business in the name, or for the account, of the other party to this Agreement.

Keys & AirTags Some keys or fobs may have an AirTag attached for loss prevention. AirTags are used only to locate lost keys and are never used to track guests. You can't get a better location than this. We walked everywhere including the Art Institute, Field Museum, Adler Planetarium, Shedd Aquarium, Riverwalk, Magnificent Mile, and the River Architecture cruise. To top it off you also get amazing views of the lake and the park. The house is comfortable, and the sleeper sofa worked perfectly for us. Small grocer on the first floor for necessities. I will confess the jog from florr 11 to 12 was unconventional but its city living and added to the experience. We enjoyed our 3 nights! Thank you!
Potential guests should be aware that the building is poorly secured. I encountered a trespasser in the stairwell leading to the penthouse apartment and called the police. When I returned that evening, the loading dock doors were propped open to the alley, enabling unauthorized individuals access to the building. I notified the hosts who said they would inform the building manager, but I did not feel safe staying there. Further, there are spare FOBs located in the lockboxes in the stairwell. The lockboxes are manual combination dials which need to be "re-scrambled" to keep the FOBs safe. There is no deadbolts inside the apartment and the check in instructions encourage guests to store the FOB in lockboxes located outside the apartment. With all of the above, I sought lodging elsewhere. VRBO explained this would only classify as a security incident if someone had broken into the unit. This should not be the security standard.
This place was very clean, comfortable and located in a perfect location! Access to the rooftop was great because you got a great view of the city, park and lake. We really enjoyed our time there!
We loved our stay here! The location was great and accessible, and parking was close by. Grant Park and Millennium Park were within minutes! The property itself was so dreamy and made our stay feel like a second home. A bonus was that everyone in the building was so nice and friendly, too! Book this place and you won’t regret it!
Great Location - near Buddy Guy's, near 11 City Diner, Harrison and Roosevelt L stations, Trader Joe's, the Lake, Art Institute, museums, etc. There are 45 degree angled views of both Sears Tower and the Lake/Navy Pier. There is also a roof deck on the lakeside that's a public space and has incredibly wonderful views. The apartment was small, not quite a tiny home, and it had everything I needed. I was just one person and I think they might limit to two or three total, and that makes sense giving the somewhat small layout. Thank you, hosts, for having such a great place available. I had a great time going to theater and museums, just walking around Chicago, taking the L, etc, and I plan to come back. Thanks again!
The unit is on the top floor with easy access to the roof balcony - a great view of the lake and the Saturday & Wednesday fireworks.
It is a cosy place, with washer / dryer when you walk in, a nice bathroom, not cramped or crowded at all, and clean with plenty of towels if you want to take a second shower one day.
The bedroom is close and the bed comfortable, fitting a lot into a small space. The mattress is comfy and didn't transmit a lot of motion from my partner's moves.
And the kitchen/living area are very nice. Comfortable sofa and complete kitchen. Dishwasher is quiet, we ran it twice, and we had plenty of outlets for our electronics. The TV got the LG channels so we could stay on top of a couple shows we watch, and had some streaming services.
We were able to bring our puppy, and the immediate access to Grant's Park was a blessing - we were able to get to the ground floor and to the park in minutes which was great in the mornings and afternoons.
Our hosts were wonderful and communicative. We loved working with them. We even told them about some of the building issues we saw, like a leaking roof in the hallway, a broken lockbox and faucet handle, and they were very appreciative.
Chicago apt on S Michigan Ave--location location location!!
Hi, we were in Chicago for a conference and then a few days of sightseeing. You cannot beat the location of this apt. It is walking distance to downtown and to the beautiful parks along the lake, and to so many other great places. No shortage of restaurants nearby and great coffee!!
The building is an historic one--site of the publishing of Jet and Ebony magazines, so this is truly a Chicago landmark. Given that, we were a bit disappointed at the upkeep of the building. For example, the rugs in the hallways were quite stained and dirty. One must take the stairway up from the 11th to 12th floor (unless using the service elevator, which was pretty dirty on our arrival when we had our luggage, so that was the only time we used it.). The stairway also had some trash on the floor that was not cleaned up in the week we were there.
The apt itself was fine. It was clean. A bit untended in terms of some wear on the walls, but really it was fine. I would suggest some additional hooks for hanging towels and clothes. Also, a full length mirror would be a nice addition.
The little view of the lake from the living room window was nice. All in all, this is a fine place to stay in a great neighborhood in Chicago, which is such a great city!! Thanks
Access is via a service elevator that is used for trash as well as people. We frequently shared the lift with flying insects. The fob to enter the unit is in a lockbox. There is only one fob. If people are going to return at differing times they ask you to put the fob back in the lockbox. During our entire stay, the lockbox did not lock so we would be leaving the unit open had we followed these instructions. Despite numerous communications with the property manager, it was never fixed despite assurances that it would be done. The security block above the deadbolt on the door was sheared off and no one had made any effort to repair it. While there, a maintenance worker came to repair the broken dishwasher. He could not and would have to arrange a service from GE. The faucets were falling off the kitchen sink and the one in the bathroom was loose as well.
The location was great, the bed was comfortable, and we felt the building was safe.
Given our problems I do feel we are entitled to some form of compensation for the condition of the unit.
