Lovely Stay

This place is a dream. Very comfy and a perfect place formy husband and I to relax with our dog. The view from the living room window and the porch are just perfect. We hope to be back

Birthday vacation at The Lucky Duck

Great week at the beach! We had a little issue when checking in but the staff was easy to reach and took care of the problem right away. The house was perfect. Would definitely stay at The Lucky Duck again.

We enjoyed our stay at Lucky Duck and its proximity to the beach, but there was an ant problem constantly in the kitchen. Also, the second bedroom did not have good AC circulation although two fans were provided; the person sleeping in that room would have preferred AC. The lockbox was very, very difficult to open. Also, we had to fool around with a router for quite some time to get the Internet to work properly.

Hi Carol, We wish you that you had mentioned the ant issue, it could have been easily addressed as this property has a pest control service plan. The house has central air conditioning that works well by all accounts. We have not had any other complaints about air circulation or the AC in general. We have also not had any other complaints about the WiFi. Lastly, the lockbox was nearing the end of its life and has been replaced, thank you for noting that issue. Thanks again for the feedback.

It was a beautiful week. Very close to the beach, hot tub was clean but could have use a service after 3-4 days - needed a little cleaning because of sand. Nothing major was still a great week and would highly recommend this place to anyone!

A pet friendly home, sofa smelled well used by a pet. Lock box not where expected, had to call the realty company for assistance getting in. These are the only issues, otherwise beautiful, comfortable lodgings.

Overall Nice Stay

Great location and close to the beach. Top deck was great with a nice view. Overall good house for our family. Areas of opportunity - the top bunk bed was very unstable, the house could really use a good clean (lots of hair on the floor, sand, dishes still in the dishwasher, etc), needs an electronic keypad instead of key lock. Finally, communication with the office was very poor when the internet went out - please remember that no one wants to spend their vacation troubleshooting someone else's internet issues.

We did not know that you were so disappointed by our communication and we are not sure why this is the case. We responded to your concerns immediately and communicated back and forth with you and the homeowner multiple times to help resolve the issue. Unfortunately, just like your internet service at home, the internet provider usually requires someone at the home to troubleshoot and also requires all of the homeowner's security permissions in order to help. Someone from our office came to let you inside the cottage after you accidentally locked the key inside and was told that the internet issues were resolved. We are sorry that your stay was interrupted by internet troubles. Regarding the lockout/ key situation - an electronic keypad may seem like an easy way to avoid accidental lockouts like you experienced but they also frequently malfunction, especially in the sandy/salty/windy conditions on the OBX. We recommend that all of our guests store their key inside the lockbox throughout their stay, that way everyone has access at all times and no one accidentally loses the key or locks it inside. We are glad that someone from our office was able to immediately come unlock the door (with no charge to you) and reunite you with your pet. Thank you again for your review.

The Lucky Duck is the place to stay in the OBX!!

My wife, our dog Clover and I stayed at the Lucky Duck for a week. What an amazing property in great condition, with a perfect location and amazing ocean views. The whole house was clean and the hut tub on cool evenings after a long day walking around was very welcome. The kitchen was well equipped, the furniture was comfortable, the A/C worked great and the beds were comfortable. The Lucky Duck was a great launching point for all things OBX. We went to the Wright brothers memorial, Jockey ridge park, drove the beach of Corolla, played golf, saw all the lighthouses, went to the aquarium, the Elizabethan gardens, festival park, drove up and down the OBX and so much more. What an awesome place. Can’t wait to return someday!

Heaven on the Beach

This house is outstanding. It has been recently remodeled and touched up. The owner has gone of if his or her way to make sure guests are comfortable. Nice living furniture, comfortable beds, plenty of deck space, beautiful kitchen countertops, and a well stocked kitchen. We wanted for nothing. It was all there. The “house booklet” was very thorough, from how to use the TVs to checkout procedures. The location couldn’t have been better. Second house from the beach with great views. This is a house that we would definitely rent again.

Great little house almost on the beach!

We enjoyed this property very much! Steps to the beach. House was very clean and well appointed. Only one carpet in the living room so my allergies were not irritated and was a nice bonus. We also brought our small dog with us and there is yard in the back for pets. The hot tub is generous and was very clean. Overall wonderful experience@
