June dates still open. Awesome views & gardens-close to great food & fun hikes!
In a fairy tale setting of forests and gardens, the charming Stone Cottage sits just above Padilla Bay, with wonderful views of the Islands, Guemes Channel, the distant Cascades and often Mount Rainier.
The Stone Cottage is situated on beautiful Samish Island, one of the lesser known (and best kept secrets!) of the San Juan Archipelago, off the northwest coast of Washington. It is a "drive-to" island connected to the mainland by land reclaimed through a system of dikes- created in the early 20th century.
Samish Island is located six miles from the quaint town of Edison; featuring several unique galleries and restaurants plus an award-winning Brewstillery. It is less than 10 miles west of Interstate 5, and 25 minutes south of Bellingham. It is surrounded by Chuckanut, Samish and Padilla bays, offering some of the best Clams, Crabs and Oysters in the Northwest!
Once part of the ancestral homelands of the Samish Indians, a Coast Salish tribe of the Pacific Northwest, the island is now a mix of rustic cabins and sprawling estates set amongst deep forests, rocky cliffs and sandy beaches. The island is also home to a large number of bald eagles, blue heron and other wildlife. The quiet island roads are perfect for long walks and bicycle rides (don't forget to wave to everyone!)
Like stepping back in time, this local landmark was built from island stone in the 1940's. It has now been carefully restored to retain it's rustic charm while offering every modern convenience.
A rare find and truly unique property where all of the amenities of a top rated B & B are provided with the privacy and comfort of your own Vacation Home. Your peace and privacy are our top priority. Let the awesome views inspire you and the closeness to nature restore you.
Enjoy a board game or a classic movie in the cozy cedar paneled living room. Watch the ships and sailboats go by from the window seat, or curl up with a good book by the original stone fireplace. The patio is the perfect spot for summer evening cocktails, barbecuing and intimate campfires.
Whether you are planning a Private Escape, a Romantic Retreat, or a Fun Friends Getaway, the Stone Cottage is the perfect choice!

A beautiful place to stay, inside and out. From comfortable amenities and warm reminders all around of a simpler time - to breathtaking views in a stunning location, the Stone Cottage has it all. It feels better every time we come.
As others have said, the cottage is clean, comfortable, and well appointed. Samish Island and the surrounding area are beautiful, with great food and delightful adventures to be found. Debbie is easy to reach and quickly responsive to any questions or needs. I highly recommend this little gem. My partner and I will be back.
Whimsical perfection with a views for days. Every detail was accounted for. Fresh cut flowers placed throughout. Comfortable, cozy, and well appointed.
This stay was perfect, it exceeded our expectations. The island is perfect for walks, the fire relaxing, and the view is food in any weather. Nearby food in Skagit is amazing as well. This is a wonderful place to stay.
Our stay was relaxing, comfortable and enjoyable with beautiful views, superb comfort, terrific management.
I would recommend the Stone Cottage for a relaxing get away
Charming, cozy and comfortable, this cottage is a must for anyone wanting to just getaway. And there are so many options for things to do in the area. Gorgeously situated!
This was the perfect place for us to spend our Christmas holidays. The hosts did a fabulous job of enhancing the cottage’s inherent charm by adding beautiful decorations and having a fire and Christmas music on when we checked in.
Perfect place to work, surrounded by beauty outside and lovely, cozy surroundings inside. Wonderful leather chair and warm fireplace made even 25 degree nights seem luxurious. I have plans to return.
The Stone Cottage is located in an amazing setting and beautifully decorated. The owners are friendly, helpful and respectful of guests. Bow is a quaint town with excellent restaurants! Do not be fooled by the exteriors. This was our second stay at Stone Cottage and we will be back!
Commanding views of Padilla Bay and beyond extend to Rainier far to the south on a bluebird day. Well equipped and furnished with plenty of historic charm. The hosts were welcoming and obviously care about the property and their guests' experience.
Exquisite cottage with fabulous view and many amenities.
We loved everything about the cottage and I can’t wait to return. The view is panoramic and spectacular, the rooms are very charming and clean and comfortable with many loving touches and the hosts were so personable. Ten stars for this gem. And close to great bakeries and restaurants
The Stone Cottage was wonderful. Beautiful views, great patio with fireplace, flowers(!), bald eagles, lots of other birds, quiet, and easy access to other areas of Washington. The hosts are fantastic as well! We'll be back!

About the host
Hosted by Debbie Ensey
We first discovered Samish Island and the little stone cottage on a Sunday drive over 20 years ago. Back then the cottage was almost hidden by towering old growth firs, but it had a fairy tale quality that captured our hearts. When we were lucky enough to make it ours in 2006, we set about restoring it in a way that would honor its history, yet make everything fresh and new.
Since we opened the cottage to guests in the summer of 2009 we have enjoyed sharing it with travelers from near and far. We hope you will experience the same sense of magic about this place that we do and that the awesome views, the closeness to nature and quiet seclusion will bring you peace to last well beyond your stay.
Warm wishes from your hosts, Debbie & Dave Ensey
