30+ day minimum Welcome to the Bijou on the Bayou (We named it this because Bijou is French for Jewel which best describes the Beautiful Bayous of Slidell, LA.) This Home is located on the Famous Bayou Liberty and is just minutes drive or minutes boat ride to Lake Pontchartrain. With a gorgeous morning view of Bayou Liberty from your kitchen/ living room, your sure to enjoy your morning coffee and breakfast even more. Not to mention Grill outs and get together with friends on the large porches and boat dock.

Bijou on the Bayou is a 2 Story beautifully furnished home right on the bayou. As you can see from the pictures, it has a beautiful foyer entrance with an Oak staircase going up to the main floor where you will find a very open floor plan of Large Living Room and Large Kitchen with large bay windows in both rooms. The Kitchen is very large with all brand new dishes, pots and pans and all the cooking utensils you need to enjoy a full cooking experience. The Living Room has a brand new couch and Loveseat and stares at a brand new 46' LCD HDTV with New Blu-Ray player for your Theater viewing experience, as well as a comfy gas fireplace.

Then you will walk down the hall to the fully decorated brand newly furnished 3 bedrooms with 2 Queen sized beds, chest of drawers and plenty of room. One of the two extra rooms has a TV and DVD Player. Then you will come to the Beautiful Master Bedroom which has a King Size Bed, and Large Couch as well as Desk built for an office/ entertainment area. This room is equipped with new 36' LCD HDTV Screen, Cable TV, and a new Blu-Ray Player for your enjoyment. The Master Bathroom has tons of Closet space, a stand up Shower as well as a Master Jacuzzi Bathtub. A full Laundry room with full size washer and dryer is located in the hallway. All linens and Bath towels provided.

Travel down below to the newly added game room which features a 50' projection TV, dart board, small bar/game table with 4 chairs, bathroom, small beer cooler (refrigerator), and plenty of room to enjoy an evening with friends. This room is heated and cooled as well so it makes a very nice extra bedroom for the house.This room also has quick access to the outside porches for grilling and other entertainment. NOTE NO EVENTS ARE ALLOWED AT THE HOME(Note: Large Screens and Projectors are available for rental as well.)

Parking is available for multiple vehicles with a two car garage with locking doors, a covered carport for another car, two spots right in front of the garage doors and plenty of other space on the 1 acre lot right next to the house for RV's and Boat Trailers (additional charges may apply for long term RV Hook and Electrical Hookups. Septic can be provided for this as well.)

If you like Fishing, this is the spot to be. The deck and area around the back yard is perfect for pier fishing and crabbing and is complete with a fish cleaning station and Lanai. Fishing Charters can be arranged and boat rental are available. This location is about 1 minute car and boat ride to the nearest boat launch, 2-3 miles from Northshore Blvd where Northshore Mall, Home Depot, Sams, Walmart, Target, Olive Garden, Chili's, Chucky Cheese, IHOP and a brand new Theater are all right on the one major area. While its close to all the main amenities, its just the perfect amount away to make it seem far away from everything and no noise of a city.

This property was a perfect fit for us! We had a wonderful time with family! We were looking for a place to relax and kick back and enjoy the grandkids. We so enjoyed our stay and being by the lake was a bonus. Great place with lots of room. Had a very comfortable stay. Look forward to coming back for another long stay!

Wonderful Thanksgiving and wedding week house

The house is awesome. Any questions we had were answered quickly and professionally by Nick. He was great to work with. We had family Thanksgiving with over 35 people and no one felt cramped. We saw two alligators. It was an overall wonderful experience. We will definitely be back next time in Slidell.

Mardi Gras 2015 Great rental if you have kids

We stayed here for Mardi Gras, we had to many kids and didn't want to stay right in New Orleans. This is a great location, took us only 35 to 40 min to get to New Orleans. Kids loved being close to the water and being able to fish whenever they wanted. On downtime we made fires in the fire pit or just chilled on the deck. We all loved the deck. There were enough beds, futons and pull outs for everyone.

Awesome Vacation Home.....

Our stay at Bijou on the Bayou during Christmas was the perfect choice for what we needed. We have done several vacation rentals by owner and this was another great experience. The house has an open floor plan allowing enough room for us all to be together with loads of space. The outside area was fabulous. It had a large dock to fish, a BBQ pit(which we used and it it worked well), and a fire pit. We took full advantage of all the property had to offer and really enjoyed our stay. I had to get in touch with Nick(the owner) a few times and he got back to me immediately, answering all my questions and addressing any issues I had. Overall, it was a wonderful holiday and hope to return in the future.

Nice Location & House

We had a great time and will return in the summer next time, great area nice house. We had a large group 13 (6 Adults, 2 Collage Age,3 Teens, & 2 Grade School) plenty of room to accommodate just need to be creative on the sleeping arrangements (Couches, Futons, Mattresses, & Beds who sleeps in what room). Location is great we spent half the time in NO and the other half looking at the many attractions and tours in the area. I have to be honest that the house needed some maintenance & TLC we informed owner of. All issues were minor that did not require immediate attention just small inconveniences that I hope the owner fixes before the next renter is inconvenienced.

Family Fun!

It was so nice to have a place to meet up with my grown children and their families! There was 13 of us, plenty of room! The four teenage boys loved having their own space in the downstairs bedroom. They had heir own living area, 1/2 bathroom and was right next to he garage where they played darts and ping pong. Everyone enjoyed fishing and a small alligator came up daily to greet us! This lovely home has a spectacular view! We enjoyed he open concept of he living/kitchen/dining rooms for visiting and board games. The back yard stayed wet during our visit but their was adequate front and side yard area for the children to play. The home owner was easy to contact if anything was needed.

Best House ever!

Goodness I don’t even know where to start! We loved it there! The house fit 13 us, plenty of room, beds, bathroom. The kitchen had everything we needed and the owners are amazing! Super nice people! They truly value their guest and care about you having a good experience. Our kids favorite thing was the alligator in the Bayou in the backyard. We never had any issues with it. When we would go stand in the dock he would come right up usually. The kids loved it! There plenty there to keep you occupied. We would definitely stay again. The ocean we went too was about 30 minutes away not a bad drive and we got to enjoy kind of being to ourselves. We got the best of both worlds!

Bijou Rental

The property is located on the bayou close to lake Ponchatrain, New Orleans, swamp tours etc. The upstairs of the house is well furnished as depicted and the central air conditioner works well. Larger parties should note that house is furnished as a 3 bedroom unit on the second floor. At the time of our rental the following issues were noted with the property. If renting a boat, access to the dock was blocked by extreme vegetation overgrowth in the bayou. The screens on the sun porch were damaged which allowed wasps to nest in the ceiling fans. A missing septic tank cover in the back yard left a 18" x 2 foot deep hole in the back yard that pose be a hazard.

our stay

We rent homes multiple times a year and I would say this is just fair. The house and property are nice, but It wasn't very clean, when we pulled one of the mattresses out from under one of the beds there was lots of dust, hair, and candy. We had trouble finding enough sheets for all of the beds. We had originally planned to have someone stay on the bottom floor, but once we saw it, we thought better of it. bugs, dark....my kids called it the "dart dungeon". The most disappointing thing about the trip was we had to leave early because of a tropical storm. The owner called (Thursday am)and wanted to move all of the furniture from the bottom floor to the top floor. He agreed to wait until Friday, maybe Saturday to move the furniture and said he would "work with us" on the money for leaving early. We changed our flights and had planned to leave Saturday morning. I called him Friday and let him know we would be leaving and by that time the storm was weakening and shifted paths. When I asked about us leaving he never offered to "work with us" or refund us any money, He said "that's life on the gulf coast". In hind site....the storm never hit and we could have stayed...but we didn't know that and we changed all of our travel plans based on his plans to move all of the furniture. We would have never thought about leaving if he wouldn't have called and told us how our cars would be flooded. Also beware of the resident alligator who sleeps on the back lawn. I think the number of people that the house is claimed to sleep is overstated. We will not rent this property again.

Beautiful home in a friendly neighborhood

This home was just as described, everything worked properly, the neighborhood was great, everyone we encountered was so friendly and helpful. Close enough to visit the city for the day, but with the small town vibe. I didn’t have to interact much with the property manager, but what interaction I did have was friendly and prompt. Great overall experience, thank you!!

We really had a great time at this property. The kids aged 8-18 all loved the dock and the yard, not to mention the foosball table. Nick was very responsive and helpful with any issues that came up. It's a big property with a lot of space!

This is an AWESOME property. The pictures don't do it justice. It's about a twenty - thirty minute drive to New Orleans and to the Mississippi Gulf Coast. It's away from everything, but close to everything. We enjoyed fishing and crabbing right off of the dock. We loved watching the wildlife, particularly the alligator in the bayou (we called her Alli). Nick was very, very helpful with all of our questions and concerns. This was definitely one of our best and most memorable vacations.

A BEAUTIFUL CHRISTMAS

It was awesome! All of our kids and families came down from Wisconsin. There were 13 of us all together. The check in was super easy and the house was clean and well stocked. The bayou out back was wonderful. The 3 bathrooms was a God send with a group that large. The house was roomy and the beds were so comfortable! It was close enough for us to spend a couple days in New Orleans and we spent a day in Gulfport MS. We just had all around great time. Everyone in our group complimented the house we chose and the location. We would definitely do this again since my husband and I travel alot for work it was awesome!

Excellent place to stay!

I rented this house for my husband’s 50th birthday surprise getaway. There were 12 people in our group and everyone had plenty of room. We enjoyed seeing the alligator in the water out back and named him George. The owner let us checking in early and was very helpful from the start of our trip until the end. The house was very clean and well maintained.

Best New Orleans vacation!

The property was in quiet and calm neighborhood, yet not far from attractions and tourists sites. I have to say that house gives you the best experience of living in New Orleans, starting with the breath taking bayou, beautiful trees covered with Spanish moss, and lots signing birds, not to mention visit from a small alligator. The property was clean, plenty of space and well equipped with almost everything you needin a house. There’s plenty of outdoor space and areas to enjoy the outdoors scenery. The deck in the bayou was everyone’s favorite, kids spent lots of time fishing. I spoke to property owner, easy to get in contact with and fast response. I liked the property so much I decided to stay an extra day, and owner made accommodations. Thanks so much!

My son and I and friends stayed here while Alligator hunting, and even with hurricane Laura making landfall a couple hundred miles to our West, the house was dry and perfect.

Great family time

We had a great time with the family, the location was good. We were with 16 people, for sleeping it was a bit crowded. A few more towels, would have been great too. We missed stuff like, detergent, dish soap, toilet paper, garbage bags, cloths to clean the countertop. I didn’t realize, that stuff like that wouldn’t come with the house. But overal it was a great experience

I Purchased this home right before Hurricane Katrina, but of course Katrina did a little damage to the down stairs of this home which was completely renovated. During that time I found work in other areas and decided to move to the beach to become a beach boy. I wish I could pick this home and property up and move it to my new location but I cant so I hold it as a great place to stay for a getaway and a place to stay when I do business in New Orleans. The home is protected by a security system as well as local neighbors and friends (not to mention a police officer that lives in plan view of the home across the street) that look after the place and make sure nothing bad happens to it. It is in a very secure area but its nice to know the backup is there while I'm gone.

Why they chose this property

This spot speaks for itself. It was too beaufiful not to pass up. It gave me the feel of being in the islands somewhere since the property is surrounded by bamboo trees and natural growth.
