I was very upset to find this property was not on Lake Combie. My parents and I specifically chose this property because it stated 0.0km to lake and a 1 minute walk… which is extremely false. We walked 10 minutes down hill before we could even see the lake, and viewing it from afar was our only option as this is a private lake. I would have chosen a much closer to our actual destination had I known… I even brought my SUP from Oregon and booked an extra night hoping to enjoy the lake. Everything else was mostly as expected. I would surely not have x4 people in this small space. No real place to set our luggage and the small TV was not anywhere one could easily view it.
My 2 adult children and I spent the night at the Cozy Country Guesthouse after a family wedding in Meadow Vista. The three of us found everything we needed here for our short stay, and I would love to return again for a longer visit.
We absolutely enjoyed our stay. The host went way above and beyond to make our stay comfortable and pleasant. Thank you for everything.

We weren't here long, but wished we could have stayed another night. Our space was spotless; small but cozy. Check-in was smooth. No complaints!

We booked this cabin for the night of our wedding. It was ten minutes away from the venue. It was a very nice, and quiet stay. Just what we were hoping for. The snacks were a nice touch and much needed after a night of hardly eating. I would recommend to anyone.
We loved this neighborhood. It was a wooded location with close proximity to their little town. Very safe feel. Good at The Tin Lantern was amazing. Home was well stocked and host very accommodating.
What a peaceful place. Just what we were looking for! Property was clean, beautiful and quiet. Took a walk down near the lake and saw some wildlife. Host was responsive to questions and everything was perfect!

This guest house is perfect. Not too small, very spacious bathroom. Very clean. Comfortable bed. High quality ceiling fan and a good air con unit. Very nice kitchen area as well. I look forward to staying here again.
Very nice, private. No hot water first day shower but corrected that day. The location for us was near perfect and the caffe in town was perfect way to start the day.
The property was exactly as expected. I was able to unplug and relax in what felt like a home away from home. My favorite part was reading my book on the porch overlooking the countryside under the shade trees. Hosts were amazing and I genuinely felt they cared about my comfort and time at their property. I will definitely return.
Lovely, very clean property, better than pictured, surprisingly spacious for a studio, good directions made it easy to find. Close to auburn state recreation and wine trail (about 20 mins drive). Great facilities and tea, coffee and some snacks were a nice surprise. Seeing deer from the deck was very nice. The little deck was peaceful. Very quiet neighborhood. Will return!!
Clean nice guest house in a quiet location. Great communication from the host. There are some house rules that you need to be aware of (and vrbo system notified us about it after the booking was confirmed). As we had some minor concerns about the house rules, I contacted the Host and she was very gracious to accommodate our request. Overall a very pleasant experience. Kids loved it !!
I came up just for some quiet time away. This unit is very nice, clean, and has almost everything you need (it doesn't have a stovetop or hot plate, but has a microwave, toaster oven, coffeemaker, toaster & fridge) The bed is super comfy, bathroom is very clean, and has soap and shampoo/conditioner. I wasn't famiiar with Meadow Vista, but it's a cute, quiet area not far from Auburn, Grass Valley, etc. The hosts were helpful when I was freaking out about driving up in a snowstorm.
We were in the area for a wedding. We only stayed 2 nights, but it was lovely. The property is so quiet, I had one of the best nights sleep in ages.
The guest house is nicely equipped and had everything we needed to be comfortable.
although we were out and about with wedding activites, we enjoyed sitting on the front deck in the evening having wine and just relaxing.
The property is a few miles outside of Auburn, but the drive to get into town was really easy. I recommend taking the hosts recommendations for eating places. We had dinner at the Tin Lantern and ate breakfast twice at Catherine's.
I wish we had more time to explore the area. The lake is a short drive down the street.
We hope to return to the area on our next trip north and spend a few extra days to do more of the activities around the area.
The hosts have a nice manual with places to go and things to see - I want to do them all.
In summary - we really enjoyed the property. It was exactly what we needed and where we needed to be. Quiet, comfortable and great location. The hostess was amazing at responding to any and all inquiries.
Oh yes - we saw 3 deer over the 2 nights we were there. One very large doe in the front yard and 2 teenage bucks.
I would recommend this guest cottage and hope to stay again.
Hi, I’m Laura. I’m an avid trail runner and lover of the outdoors! My husband, Dan, and I moved to Auburn to enjoy all “the endurance capital of the world” has to offer. So if you’re looking for adventure and want some recommendations for local activities, we’ve got you covered! We have endeavored to make our home feel like your home-away-from-home. Dan and I also have three children, so if you need something, please ask… we probably have it. We look forward to hosting you!
Why they chose this property
We’re nestled among the trees on a peaceful, private street that dead-ends at the lake. This Meadow Vista neighborhood boasts the best of both worlds. Feel serenely tucked away while also enjoying proximity to all the essentials, like restaurants, a grocery store, and our favorite coffee shop, The Local Café, all within about a mile of our home. In addition, we’re just 10 minutes from downtown Auburn and 45 minutes from Boreal and Lake Tahoe. Appreciate proximity to Lake Tahoe without having to pay Tahoe Airbnb prices!
What makes this property unique
Our private guesthouse has its own separate entrance and deck. You’ll be amazed by how roomy this cozy suite feels! Step inside and enjoy complimentary coffee, tea, snacks, and bottled water in the dine-in kitchen. Then curl up in the living area to choose a show from the selection of streaming services on the flatscreen TV. With a double bed, a single bed, and a floor mattress, we have plenty of room to sleep four comfortably. We also offer a porta-crib and highchair for little ones upon request.
