Luxury Secluded Mountain Retreat, Incredible Long Range View
We searched a long time for the perfect spot for our second home; this is it. Eagles Nest (here before the development by the same name) sits on two secluded acres at the very top of a mountain between Valle Crucis and Banner Elk overlooking three states. When you stay with us, you are only 15 minutes from boutique shopping, recreation, four star restaurants and even a winery.
Yet, you're surrounded by farms, beautiful wildlife and breathtaking views. You see it all here. Weather takes on a new meaning. From rare Rime Frosts to thick August fogs, winter white blankets of snow to linen white Catawba Rhododendron blooming under cool mountain skies, front row to a fierce symphony thunderstorm to unmatched panoramic fall color. You can watch it all from the covered deck overlooking Tennessee, Virginia and North Carolina, or by the stone fireplace in our living room cozy with French and English country antiques and reproductions.
In the winter we get snow, snow , snow. In the summer we get a 22-25 degree temperature difference--cool. And don't worry, with all of this weather activity we have a whole house generator that takes over automatically if the power goes out. The bedrooms here are furnished with 100% oxford cotton sheets and Sterns & Foster mattresses. The chef's kitchen (we're cooks) is stocked with pantry items and spices.
Please replace what you use. There is an honor bar and honor wine cellar. Also please replace what you use. Nearby there are several spas including the famed Westglow Spa in Blowing Rock. You are surrounded by hundreds of mountain trails to hike and three major ski resorts. Yes, this is a very special place. Warning: you will be addicted. We hope you enjoy and gently care for our second home as much as we do.

Gorgeous and peaceful.....please don't come when I want to revisit!
The pull of selfishness is trying to drag me toward not telling you what a fabulous rental this is...except I found it online and so should you be able to. This is for adults in that it is beautifully decorated and children under 18 are likely not to appreciate the quality of the home that it deserves.
Both bedrooms are lovely and extremely comfortable. The kitchen provides ample elements to make wonderful meals. The living room, dinning room and small library are equally lovely. The view is stunning even in the rain.
Just check with me before you rent so that we are going for the same week or I will be forced to send someone to your house to "persuade" you to look at another date!
Really, why go anywhere else? The owners are a pure delight to deal with and go out of their way to help you get on the right road. GPS will work but often wishes to guide you to a road you do not or should not use.
Follow the map Randy sends you.
We had no trouble with Verizon cell although my sister and her husband on T-mobile did have issues. The TV worked great the one time we used it.
This is peace, inside and out with beauty inside and out....oh and a hot tub.

The view will take your breath away!
This house was everything we hoped for and more. The owners thought of EVERYTHING! When I mentioned to the owners that we enjoyed hiking, the owners even left us detailed info on some great hikes both from the house as well as in the Banner Elk area. We stayed an entire week and really hated to leave. I could personally just live on the deck overlooking the mountains -- it was like a beautiful painting. Each morning/evening was a different work of art. And the stars you can see at night! Wow. Hot tub was fantastic after an afternoon of hiking. Comfy beds and linens were perfect. And the music -- every song and genre you can think of is available in their library of music. Thank you for helping my family enjoy a great vacation away from it all! We'll definitely be back.

Wonderful Vacation
Eagles Nest was the perfect place for us to stay. It was beautifully decorated and not too far from other activities we wanted to do. The view as we traveled up the mountain was breath taking with all the beautiful colored leaves on the trees and all the scenery around. After getting to the house there was a beautiful view from the back deck that we enjoyed every morning as we sat, drank coffee, and planned our day. There were days that it rained, but we still enjoyed staying in, watching movies and playing games in the comfort of the home. We definitely will recommend this house to friends or family that may be looking for a place in the Banner Elk area. Thank you to the owners for being so accommodating.

Fall Colors!
We stayed during the week of 10/10/2012-10/15/2012.The cabin is in a very elevated place on the side of the mountain. The drive there was a little frightfull the first few times. That said, that makes for the most AMAZING ! fall colors scenery anywhere. The home was very accomadating(The home seems to be professionally decorated.)Randy was very professional and any questions were answered very quickly. Thank you Randy, for the most amazing vacation we've had in a long time.P.S. the home is very centrally located to many tourist places.

A French Country Paradise
I had the opportunity to stay at Randy and John's lovely home in Banner Elk. I needed a quite get away to regroup and recharge. I was amazed at the beautiful decor and atmosphere of this lovely home. I loved sitting on the deck while I read and had a glass of wine. The location was perfect. Out far enought to have peace and quite but close enought to get to the main events. The pictures do not give you the full respect for this home. It was very hard to leave. Randy was professional, personable, and had great follow through on the reservation.
I can't wait to stay here again!!!! Thank you guys for a great get away!!!
This property is a jewel box in the mountains! Rather than being rustic like so many other mountain houses, it is decorated like a country French cottage complete with gorgeous artwork, furnishings and a mountain view that is unrivaled by any other North Carolina property I've visited in the past 25 years! "Eagle's Nest" is secluded--almost 15 minutes up the hill from the winery--but the drive is worth it for the incredible vistas. The only "neighbor" we ever heard was a goat bleating or a cowbell ringing. We left the property during the day for hiking in Pisgah or the Blue Ridge Parkway and biking on the Virginia Creeper. Our evenings were spent relishing the cool mountain air in the hot tub on the deck. We did go out to Artisinal restaurant one evening (the shuttle picked us up at the winery), which was totally delightful and delicious, but we found that we would rather cook in the great kitchen or on the infrared grill than go out in the evenings. The owners are a joy to work with and provided a book with details about area hiking trails, restaurants and shopping and even left some provisions for breakfast in the morning. My husband said that I had "found a winner" with Eagle's Nest, and I couldn't agree more!
We enjoy life. We love to travel (when we can afford it.) We love to eat (I guess we're foodies, and probably wine-os) and fortunately we can cook. It's almost as much fun to cook as it is to eat, but we are grateful when people cook for us. Walking and hiking are the best and look where we are! Now, when we hike we take reinforcements (charcuterie and chateneauf de pape.) One of the many times we hiked Hawksbill Mountain, we had a spread, wine, pate, cheese, chicken sad... Other hikers on the mountain commented that it was 'a whole new level of hiking... and to hell with this power bar.' We both own our own businesses so it's really great when we can come here and relax. Last 4th of July we had dinner outside on the deck. We watched every little community's firework show. It got a little chilly so we went in a built a fire (yes, in July.) We plan to retire here. Someday.
Why they chose this property
We accidentally found this house one summer afternoon when visiting the local winery and remarked how the area reminded us of Tuscany. We already owed a house in the area and had no idea that this beauty was so close by. We felt so removed from the hustle and bustle of the city and our hectic lives and fell in love with the area and purchased Eagles Nest the next day!
What makes this property unique
Luxury , seclusion, the view and long hikes on our country roads picking blueberries. We have traveled the world and rented many vacation homes and for the most part were always disappointed with the level of quality. So we did something about it and are here to share it with you.
