House location and owner were great, but, the house is really old and run down. There is mold in the upstairs bathrooms, the front porch is falling apart, sliding door to porch is broken, windows are broken, screens are missing, cracks on the floor etc... But if going in with a realistic expectation, the price is very reasonable, the location is awesome, and the owner was very helpful and nice. We really enjoyed our stay just disappointed in the condition of the house.
I am glad you enjoyed your stay at my home and thought the centralized location was great and it was reasonally priced. I appreciate you saying the owners were great.
Your review listed various items you were disappointed in. This gives me great concern as it is VERY important to keep my guest happy.
We communicated numerous times during your stay and you never voiced any conerns listed in your review. I have a staff who could have come and taken care of them. The only issue you communicated was that the cable box went out and I had it replaced the following day,
Your review mentioned a screens were off the windows. The screen had been removed when house was painted. I personally put them back on but evidently missed a few. Again, if notified, I could have had them put back on for you.
The sliding door is a screen door. The tracks have been lubricated and it works fine. It is usually always left open as Vail has virtually none of those pesky flying insects.
You indicated the front porch was falling apart. I was there the week before you and it seemed fine. I was on the deck numerous times as well as my wife and children. It was definatly NOT falling apart., After your review, I had a construction engineer take a look at it. He said it needed a new facia board by the steps and needed painted. Both have been taken care of.
As far as being outdated, I have updated the kitchen with granite counter tops, installed new bathroom sinks and faucets, spent $14,000 rebuilding the steam room, installed a new 6 person sauna, spent $15,000 repainting the exterior, purchased new beds and mattress's comforters, along with many other items. I continue updating and upgrading the home.
The pictures on VRBO are current and give an just reflection of each room.
Although the 2 groups staying at the house immediately after you, did not voice your concerns. I do appreciate the eyes and ears of ALL my guest. I want to address any issues for them and future guest.
I would have appreciated a phone call from you while you were there so I could have addressed your concerns on a more timely basis, instead of them being addressed 45 days after your departure.
The home is not a Ritz Carlton level home. but neither is the price, $675 vs $3,500 . night.
Most guest agree, that with 5,500 sf ft 6 bdrsm (4 of them master size with king beds), a 6 person sauna,
large steam room, 8 person hot tub and designer pool table, a wonderfly kitchen, the home is a GREAT value and VERY functional for large groups and families.
Hopefully I will have the opportunity to host you again and you will see that your concerns have been addressed.
good family house
The house was great size and good location. Communication with the owner was great, not so much with the property manager. We had 12 people so the house had plenty of room. The pool table was a big hit with the grandkids. The kitchen was very well equipped, large enough for multiple cooks. Some of the furniture needed repair. It was very warm when we got there, outside & inside. Opening the doors helped, but not all the windows could be opened, and the lower level bunk room had no windows. There was no AC. Thankfully, the nighttime temps helped. The narrow balcony gave beautiful views! Overall, this was a good house for a large group. But it could use some repairs.
Lots of room for everyone. Needs a good cleaning. Furniture was so so. Grill was dirty. Hot tub was locked up and not clean. Yard was very weedy.
Although its not located on vail village. Its great. You will need a car though. I would love for the owner to correct the description and br clear that the house is 15 min away from vail village. Awsome house for big groups
Great location, spacious place, friendly owner
The house was ideal and well priced for a family get together with 10 adults and 4 kids. The kitchen was well stocked for preparation of all dinners we made at home through the week. The living room was big enough for our large group to sit together and play a game or just hang out in front of the fire and/or tv. The sauna was a real treat. The owner answered any questions we had with great haste. The driveway provided enough space for 4 vehicles despite the large amount of snow. The place is extremely close to both beaver creek and vail.
I enjoyed having you as guest and look forward to having you back
Well located, spacious, a little dated/dirty. Great host.
This is a perfectly located large house super convenient to Vail, Avon, & Beaver Creek. The host aims to please, and was very helpful. The kitchen had a wide variety of tools/gadgets that made group cooking pretty easy. It was spacious and worked well for 3 families, each with two kids. That said, the house is quite dated, a few things didn't work properly (or we just couldn't figure them out) - namely: (1) outdoor grill (was out of gas; we refilled cylinder and still couldn't get it lit). (2) sauna (we followed written directions, and couldn't get it working). (3) one bedroom where kids slept (downstairs, interior) was so warm that we had to leave doors open and fan on. And the house could use a deep, deep clean (not gross, but for the price, we expected better). Don't get me wrong, though. It was all pretty solid, but at holiday week prices, I expect things to be closer to hotel-like. Bottom line: I'd recommend it, but I would encourage the owner to have a deeper-than-normal-between-guests cleaning and check to make sure a few things are working 100%.
Picnics on the mountain, behind our home are wonderful & easy hiking trail up to a mountain stream - great for children
