About this property

Cosy Retreat Home with Jacuzzi

Enjoy our 69 square meter cottage conveniently located only 55 minutes outside of Reykjavik and close to many destinations worth visiting. The cottage is located in the beautiful Svinadalur valley facing the mountain Skardsheiði in a very quiet and private area featuring panoramic mountain and woodland views from virtually every window. A large wraparound deck features an outdoor shower and jacuzzi for up to 6 people. You can enjoy the hot tub any time -- especially after a busy day exploring Iceland. The hot tub is an ideal place to take in the Northern lights and enjoy moonlit starry nights. Outdoor furniture, outdoor dining table and Gas Weber BBQ are available all year around, gas included. Plentiful hotspring water heats the house and jacuzzi making the cottage warm and cozy in the winters. We wish our guests the time and space to rest, retreat and rejuvenate in our cottage and surrounding area. Ideal for creating cherished moments with family and friends. No parties or events and No pets.

The house has a dressing room, 3 bedrooms (one downstairs, two upstairs) and sleeps a total of 6 people. The downstairs master bed is brand new and high quality. Linens and towels are provided. Fully fire equipped including fire extinguisher, fire blanket in the kitchen, fire alarms in all bedrooms and first aid in the entrance hall. There are escape routes on the ground floor and escape ladders in the two upper floor bedrooms. No smoking is allowed inside the cottage and we ask guests to be very careful with outdoor fire as well. The house is very well equipped with modern conveniences. Fully equipped kitchen, cooker, oven/microwave, refrigerator, dish washer, toaster, pots, pans, waffle maker, pancake pan, handmixer & attachments, cheese slicer, egg slicer, frenchpress coffee pot, and electric tea kettle. Tea towels, sponges and washing liquid provided. Also you will find a selection of spices and oils which you are welcome to use. Bose bluetooth speaker. Screened windows. A portable massaging table is in the cottage free for you to use, if you would like to receive a treatment check out the treatments I offer at www.healingjoy.org/bodytreatments or contact me for details.

TV: Flatscreen TV allows you to access your personal Netflix account. Wifi included. Cell service is excellent.

In the winter when it is icy and snowing in the southwest area of the country, we recommend renting a 4 wheel drive car for your own safety. The surroundings are very beautiful and peaceful at this time. From September to April Northern lights are very common in the area.

Outstanding Host
Skuli was a superb host. He communicated with us several days before our stay and walked us through every step of check-in. His daughter, Christelle, met us in Reykjavik and drove out, leading the way to their home. She was available to answer any questions about how to work the appliances, etc. She was very helpful. The beds were comfortable, the home was pleasant with a well-stocked kitchen, including spices. A big perk was having a washing machine/dryer in the home. Skuli even supplied laundry detergent. We enjoyed the hot tub and best of all, they are in a quiet community with little lights at night so we could see a wonderful display of northern lights. Skuli was the best host we've had in a long time. If you want to be away from town, and closer to the Snaefelsness Penninsula then this is the ideal location. We were only an hour from the city and could use Skuli's home as a great base to see the peninsula, Arkranes, and the city. Thanks for an amazing stay. You were the best. SH

Utopic Place to Escape
From the booking process to planning questions, check-in and check-out, the host was superb and very timely. The house was perfect for three adults. The kitchen was great for cooking and had lots of staples and equipment. We did not use the hot tub but that and the outdoor shower are great amenities. The view from the house is spectacular and I highly recommend staying here. We'd love to go back!

AMAZING
This was the PERFECT place for our few days of rest after an epic adventure that my better half embarked upon in the highlands of Iceland. Skuli the landlord is an absolute gem, and now someone I truly consider a friend! The place is beautiful, very well kept, clean, extremely well outfitted, quiet, and has everything you could ever want in a mountain getaway. I just know we will be back to stay here. We are in love with iceland, and definitely in love with this place!!! Such an amazing trip, and this house and it's landlord were definitely a big part of that! Thank you Skuli!
