About this property
Dog-friendly urban oasis with large yard & porch.
The Retro Retreat is a unique stay on Riverside Drive featuring a safe, quiet neighborhood & wooded, private yard. This mid-century home has been preserved and decorated to "mostly" match the era. Highlights include refinished hardwood floors, formica countertops, and a cast-iron tub, with modern conveniences. Fully enclosed porch with a piano. An indoor crate and outdoor kennel make it easier to travel with your dogs. Short distance to the Nansen ski jump, hiking, skiing, lakes, and ATV trails.
The space
Outdoors:
A lawn covers most of the property, with trees outlining the private yard in the back. There is a small fire pit (newspapers provided, you can purchase wood locally), propane grill, table, chairs, and an umbrella for guest use. String lights add to the night-time ambiance.
Inside:
Sip your coffee in the porch while overlooking the yard, or tap away on the vintage piano in excellent condition (though in need of tuning). The kitchen is roomy with dining-table that seats 6. Additional chairs and faux-wood tv trays straight out of 70's are available.
There is a covered couch and loveseat in the cozy living room, which has a crate for your pet.
All of the bedrooms have new memory-foam matresses with low-pile area rugs covering the hardwood floors for comfort. Every room has a closet and storage space for clothes.
Guest access
Guests may access the first first floor of the home. The garage and cellar are not available.

DISCLAIMERS ABOUT THE RETRO RETREAT
Our driveway is small, though an upgrade is in the works. We cannot accommodate trailers (yet).
The Retro Retreat is not a modern, luxury stay. The home is older and we have intentionally preserved it and embraced the quirks because of its rare features. Some doors and drawers may stick and the vinyl floor and kitchen sink has wear and tear as expected with a house built in the 1950's. A couple of chairs wobble a bit but they are sturdy. Our goal is to provide a clean, cozy home with a fun, vintage vibe. We have covered the irreplaceable kitchen table and counters with clear protectors to ensure they last another 70 years.
Guests without pets are certainly welcome! The Retro Retreat is not suitable for someone with dog allergies. We have a phenomenal cleaning team but we cannot guarantee there won't be a stray dog hair or two.
There are trees surrounding the home so there may be visits from woodland animals including deer.
