Don't stay with VACASA
Our rental was not cleaned prior to our arrival. My 71 year old mother and I cleaned 90% of the home before the cleaner arrived. Keep in mind that we arrived the day before Christmas Eve to enjoy the holidays with our Moms. We were passed like a hot potato upon making contact with VACASA when we arrived. And were asked to send pictures of the issues almost 6 hours after our arrival. It was a ridiculous and disappointing experience. Very unfortunate for the home owner, as the house was great. Very dirty (we say the uncleanliness as WE cleaned the house). Owners should look to find other property manager.

My worst experience with VRBO/Vacasa
First, the host for this house is Vacasa. The downstairs bedroom with 2 sets of bunk beds (each had a trundle bed so it made 3 beds per bunk), was not cleaned at all. We had 4 children going and 5 people were supposed to stay in this bedroom. One trundle wouldn’t even pull out and the other literally had mold growing on it. Half of our group refused to stay there and had to find another rental for sleeping arrangements. If you like washing other people’s dirty bedsheets and having to put them on this house is for you. Also, it’s pet friendly so if you like finding huge clumps of hair everywhere it’s a must stay. This room clearly wasn’t vacuumed either, my toddler nieces found a safety pin in the carpet and there was trash all over the floor. The upstairs seemed fine but we still took all the sheets and comforters off and washed them. The washing machine does leak though so you’ll have to clean that up :) oh, and while Vacasa promises local support, there won’t be any of that. We still haven’t received an update and have been home for almost a week. It’s truly a shame because this house is beautiful, just half is absolutely disgusting. Next time I’ll ensure that the host is an individual to receive better support.

Success
This was a great place for our NC family members, who are all spread in various directions from 1.5-3 hours away, to gather for an early holiday celebration. There were a few quirks and details that need attention but, overall, the space was a success for games, eating, and spending time together. The kitchen was a tight squeeze for multiple people trying to prepare things. Though, the extra baking drawer in the oven came in very useful. The dog bowls were appreciated too. We brought a dog bed but there was also one available at the house. Our family had a wonderful time.

Both beautiful and slight disappointing
While the home is spacious, updated and beautiful, we found more disappointment in this stay than any previous VRBO stay. The cleanliness was disappointing including a large stain on a bedsheet, hair along the bathroom wall, a full dishwasher and urine on the base of the toilet near bolts. The home is not stocked near as well as our previous stays. Luckily, we were prepared for some of the missing items due to the reviews of others (coffee, garbage bags as only 2 were provided, saran wrap). This house was managed by Vacasa and definitely has the missing touch of a helpful homeowner. There is little instruction for checkout and no paper or book to reference. We did, however, drive the garbage 13 mins away as instructed to find the site is closed on Sunday, taking a half hour away from our hiking time. This would have been great information to know. Overall, we had a great trip, but these few suggestions could help make the stay much better.
