Come enjoy mountain views and nature at this cozy Kern River Chateau, nestled on a hill, at the base of the Sequoia National forest, & a short drive to the town & the river. The property has 2 units available. The "Chateau" is the downstairs unit. Enjoy a cup of coffee with a view of sunrise, a glass of wine overlooking the sunset at the end of a busy day on the river, or a soak in our outdoor bath garden and shower! Host or other guests may be staying in other units during your stay.
The space
The property has 2 units available. This downstairs unit is attached to the main property with a private entrance, with a queen size bed + full size futon. It's a spacious studio with a fully stocked kitchen, bathroom, and patio area. The outdoor shared space has a patio table, hammocks and a BBQ for grilling. You may be sharing this area with other guests renting the second unit of the property and the owners upstairs. Or rent both units (separate listings) and enjoy time with family and friends. The units sit on 1.7 acres of private land, with amazing views, privacy, and an opportunity for comfort while still having access to the outdoors. And if you're lucky, you'll even see deer and other wildlife at your window.
Guest access
The house is located at the top of a steep gravel driveway. 4 wheel drive is recommended, but regular vehicles will be fine, as long as you follow the directions for access. You can park in one of the designated spaces once up the driveway. You'll be able to enter the unit with a code we provide you for the lock box. You can get around the neighborhood with your car, Uber + Lyft is limited. There is a Kernville town shuttle.
A "House Rules" and Liability waiver will need to be signed via Docusign before booking is confirmed.
Other things to note
Our property sits at the top of a steep gravel driveway. Please be aware when you first arrive and every time you come and go. The ride up and down is bumpy, but safe. We recommend that you drive at about 5mph and no faster than 10 mph. Do not stop mid-way. If you stop you will likely get stuck in loose gravel. If stuck, you'll need to back up and try again. Once up the driveway, there are designated parking spaces to your right.
