About this property

The Poet's House, Luxury and Solitude on 100 acres

Welcome to the Poet's House on a 100-acre farm! This luxury one-floor house is the perfect romantic retreat for a couple, convenient stay with all the essentials for a family getaway, and a great option for business travelers who want both privacy and convenient access to Winston-Salem. This property has 100 5-star guest reviews through another site.

This luxury one-level home was designed with simplicity, solitude, and peacefulness in mind. The Poet's House features stone floors, mahogany doors, modern appliances, a combination of antiques and mid-century modern decor, as well as original art pieces.

The primary bedroom has a king bed, sitting area and sun porch overlooking the woods. The en suite master bathroom has a walk-in shower, a soaking tub, as well as a walk-in closet.

The second bedroom at the front of the house has a queen bed and two large windows overlooking the front courtyard. The third bedroom has a double bed and windows that overlook the fruit orchard. The second full bathroom has a walk-in shower.

The open living room has comfortable seating and a modern soapstone wood stove for chilly mornings or romantic evenings. The open dining room can seat six at the long dining table (which is handmade from black walnut trees on the property!), and there is also seating for four at the kitchen island. Harman Kardon bluetooth speaker is ready to set the mood and play your favorite tunes.

Each bedroom has two bathrobes to enhance your visit's spa-like feel and cut down on what you need to pack. After each guest, we strip each bed completely and replace everything - mattress cover, sheets, blankets and coverlet are all freshly cleaned.

The kitchen is stocked with everything you need - Keurig coffee maker, pots/pans, dishes and utensils, stove/oven, microwave, dishwasher and refrigerator. Custom, modern cabinets and drawers outfit the rest of the kitchen area.

A beautiful deck off the side of the house offers an opportunity to watch birds and wildlife, sit and enjoy your morning cup of coffee, or enjoy outdoor dining overlooking the woods. At the back of the house is a second deck (aka, "the rocking porch") where you can sit with another view of the woods and a sweet little log cabin that sits behind the house. (We're still working on a plan for the log cabin.) The third small deck off the back of the house has two lounge chairs and a brick patio with gas grill. The back yard is fenced in.

Naturally, the Poet's House has an office/library that is perfect for inspiring your creative side, working on your latest novel, or just tapping away on your computer. Guests are welcome to enjoy the library's books and games during their stay.

Guests have access to one side of a two-car garage. Other cars may park outside in the driveway. Guests are free to walk the 100-acre property, which includes two ponds on the lower half of the property which are suitable for fishing (BYO poles), to use the large fire pit in the middle of the upper pasture, or to visit with our three goats, chickens and duck. When we have a surplus, we're happy to share farm fresh chicken eggs with our guests - just let us know if you'd like some.

This house is wheelchair accessible - guests can enter the house through the garage without ever having to step up or down. Showers are accessible and both toilets have grab bars. The sinks and kitchen counters, however, are not wheelchair accessible.

We do allow pets, but please message the host before booking with the type of pets and their size, as well as to review the rules for pets staying in our rentals. Please do not request to book if you cannot keep your pets off the furniture. There is a $50 per pet cleaning fee.

Please note: ALL OF OUR PROPERTIES ARE SMOKE-FREE, INSIDE AND OUTSIDE.
Guest access
Entire house is for guests. Half of the two-car garage is for guests.
Other things to note

Great experience & Location!
We would highly recommend this location. Location is in the country which was very quiet and relaxing. House was awesome, we loved this house. The host, Amanda, was very responsive and helpful. We would gladly stay here again. Nice fenced in yard for our fiurkids. Close to Medaloni Cellars and West Bar & Venue and Incendiary Brewery. Full Moon Oyster Bar & Seafood Restaurant. Or, just buy a bottle of wine or your favorite drink and sit on the back porch and enjoy the tranquility. Kitchen has all the amenities needed to prepare a 5 star dinner once your dog finds the "hidden" spice drawer by chance. Thanks for working with our changing schedule. Thank you.

Phenomenal property!
The Poet's House was the perfect destination for our out-of-town team members' stay for our staff retreat. Their accommodations were excellent, and the entire property (inside and out) created the perfect context for thoughtful, collaborative time together. Since I am local, I will definitely keep this property in mind in the future when we have out-of-town guests coming in beyond our capacity to host them in our own home. I could not have asked for a better experience!

Sheer delight!
This was our second visit to The Poet's House, and we just love staying there. There's everything you need in the beautiful home - the wood burning stove is so inviting on chilly winter evenings. The farm animals sre a delight and the sweet dogs who greeted our two pups made us all feel very welcome. Definitely 10/10 stars!

Amazing property in our hometown
Our family has to vacate our home for almost two weeks due to floor repairs. It was such a God send to find this beautiful and serene home in a heavenly bucolic setting. Our kids loved the land, the goats, the fire pit. It was like a vacation 6 miles from our house. We had no idea this gem was here but will remember it for our out of town friends coming to visit. The owners were amazing and kind. Thank you, Amanda, for all your helpful guidance during our stay!

Fun family farm retreat
Beautiful home located on 100 acres of farmland lends itself to leisurely walks, open fires, fishing, and interaction with the farm animals. Perfect for dogs, kids, and nature lovers. The house was very clean and owners have thought of everything to make your stay comfortable. We celebrated both a birthday and thanksgiving and the kitchen was finely appointed with everything we needed and plenty of gathering space. We loved relaxing and visiting in both the indoor and outdoor spaces. The town was close by and had taverns, wineries, and grocery stores near by. It was a very relaxing and fun getaway.
