About this property

Satori Cottage in Historic Castine, Maine

Sunny open concept modern home situated on the Wadsworth Cove ridge with water views. The sloped, half-acre yard features a raised deck, mature gardens, shade trees for relaxing and entertaining. Historic Fort Griffith abuts the lot. Witherle Woods hiking trails can be accessed across the street and a five-minute walk leads to the Backshore beach and children’s swimming area adjacent to the beach. The home is .75 mile from the historic district, downtown shops, and restaurants of Castine. 1.25 hours from Acadia National Park. The House had a major renovation this year with a newly updated kitchen and freshly updated and painted living areas. Our home has all the necessary amenities of a modern home (wifi, flat panel tv, lighting, skylights). We have three ensuites. On the main level you will find one king bed in a large bedroom with sitting area and attached bathroom with shower; and one full bed in a small bedroom with attached bathroom with shower and apartment sized washer/dryer, and a dressing area with closet. The third ensuite is on the lower level and has a queen bed, sitting area with queen sofa bed, attached bathroom with tub/shower and an outside sitting area off French doors. There is also a reading loft/tv room with wraparound windows with water views, a 55inch smart tv and comfortable seating. The entire house has large opening windows and skylights creating a sunny and breezy home. There are plenty of books and games for your entertainment. It is a great location for family and/or friends desirous of a vacation off the crowded tourist trail. Outdoors: Large second story deck off dining room with Adirondack chairs, teak dining table with four chairs and bench, and grill. Off the lower level bedroom there is a small deck with chairs leading to a lawned backyard.

September Retreat
A gathering of college roommates from the 70s and their wives - we had a grand time in a very comfortable, well-appointed, and spacious three-bedroom home, with ready access to beach and town. Plenty of walking trails and a grand opportunity to gather, cook, laugh, and explore. You can't go wrong on the Blue Hill and Castine Peninsulas, and this house proved us right! Thank you good hosts!

GGO reunion
This property could not have been more perfect. It totally met our needs (2 sets of grandparents, 1 young family of 4) with the right amount of open space for everyone to enjoy time together, as well as private quiet space to sleep undisturbed. The location is a 5 mins walk, or 2 min drive, to the public beach and pool, and a 2 min drive into the village. This property so exceeded expectations that we have already requested to rent again.
