We grabbed this last minute as our other travel plans fell through. This was a great place. Fully stocked with everything you could need. Close to hiking trails and a little beach steps away.
The location near the beach and visibility of the dock from the patio and living room was great for young children. The loft was perfect for our group of 8 (4 adults and 4 children).
My family of 4 enjoyed staying in this adorable log cabin with our 2 dogs! Great location near woodsy hiking in the Black River State Park. We had 5+ inches of fresh snow — beautiful winter wonderland! The cabin was perfect for family games and staying cozy! Owner very attentive and home was in great condition. Easy drive from Chicago.

Thanks for staying with us Julie! I'm so glad you got the beautiful snow for your trip - you're welcome back any time!
The property is exactly how it looks in the pictures! A quaint and quiet little spot to unwind and relax. Drop a bobber at 6am while drinking coffee and watch the sunrise while breathing the serenity. It is the perfect size for a family of four and one 140lb (well behaved) dog. The owners thought of everything and provided more than we expected!
We were absolutely thrilled with our experience here!! The cabin has everything we needed (and more). The kids loved sleeping in the loft, and it was very dog friendly for our pup - we all felt right at home. Check-in was a breeze, the kitchen had everything we needed to cook our own meals, and we loved using the grill for burgers! Logan was such a great host, communicating everything beforehand, and he was always quick to answer messages. We made many great memories at the beach, which was only two houses down and was almost always empty or mostly empty (we felt like it was our own private beach) and had a blast canoeing around the lake. Our pup was obsessed with playing fetch in the water right at the cabin, we could barely get her to come out! :) The newly renovated basement was a HUGE hit! The kids were down there every day playing on the Pac-Man machine, fuseball, and watching movies. We would absolutely recommend staying here and wish we could have stayed longer!
We rented for a small family gathering. First, the cabin itself is beautiful and cheery. The view from the back porch is fantastic. The host is super responsive and accommodating. Everything you think you will need is provided: pots, pans, skillets, a slow cooker!, a little waffle maker, board games, crayons, squirt guns, a small library for all ages and includes the full Little house on the Prairie books, tons of DVD's, a canoe, and a paddle boat. It was wonderful. When I get another opportunity to rent it - I definitely will, and this time I know I do not need to pack my own utensils and baking pans! There is also a little beach one house away and that provided a quick outdoor adventure for a three year old.
You also have Black River Falls only 12 miles away and the drive itself is relaxing. On the way, you can stop at several parks. Waze Lake Park also has a beach and some beautiful trails. It was just excellent all the way around.

Thanks Susan. We're so glad your family had such a good time at our cabin. You're always welcome back!
A very comfortable stay. Although we didn't harvest, we loved being in that atmosphere of the outdoors. A very considerate host. Fast internet and very comfortable beds. Oh, and the shower is awesome!
Good location, but house is not as described at all
The screens either all have holes or don't work. There is a sign on the refrigerator saying to use the lighter to light the gas stove. When you do risk injury to light the stove top the range is way too low. None of it is up to code at all. The stove makes it almost impossible to cook off of. The stove top and kitchen in general was not clean. There are cob webs and dust on the logs inside. The last day of our stay the AC went out and it was 78 inside. The whole experience was super underwhelming to say the least. We ended up leaving the last night because of the heat, but we were told we would get our money back for the last night. I would fix the screens and windows so people can use them.

Steven and his family stayed at our cabin for a week and reported having an amazing time with no complaints during his stay - only positive messages. Unfortunately, due to circumstances outside of our control, on the last night of his stay an animal got into the A/C unit outside the home and the air turned off in the cabin without explanation. I responded to Steven's messages immediately and had an HVAC technician on standby to come out and restore A/C yet that very evening.... Steven opted to leave instead and demanded a refund which I provided to him at our expense.
We were very saddened to see such a vindictive, negative review from an otherwise positive guest... who had every expressed concern addressed timely.
***TO FUTURE GUESTS: Please rest assured
- we have addressed the one-time fluke that was caused by a wild animal and are more than ready to continue providing "5 Star" experiences to our guests. :)
We had the best stay at Woodland Doe Lodge! Cliche in a good way, you get the full cabin experience of a log home decorated to play its part but with A/C and Wifi. The Hosts have thought of everything to make your stay memorable, we enjoyed using the Kayaks on the calm yet scenic Lee Lake.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay! The cabin was everything we had hoped it would be. Beautiful, peaceful rural location, yet convenient to everything we needed and wanted to do. Our host was very responsive to every inquiry from the beginning of the reservation process to the end of our stay. We look forward to returning!
Our family had a wonderful time. Cabin was very clean. We stayed week of Thanksgiving so it was cold, there were lots of board games, toys and movies. Hosts left nice welcome of marshmallows and hand warmers. They also have a “snack shelf” of snacks, popcorn and drinks to purchase. Host was very quick to respond to any questions. I highly recommend.
Great cabin! Wonderful hosts. Our family (my husband myself, our two daughters and our two dogs) had a great time! The cabin was extremely clean and well stocked with supplies that we may need, which was very helpful. My daughter caught a fish right off the dock, we couldn’t get our dogs out of the water, they loved swimming so much, and the kayaks were put to good use. Logan was extremely responsive to any inquiry we had. Overall, it was relaxing, enjoyable And beautiful. It was definitely a vacation we needed. We will definitely be back.
We initially scheduled this site for a mother - daughter gathering with the grandchildren staying at another cabin but Woodland Doe Lodge stoled all our hearts and made last minute sleeping arrangements so everyone was happy. Logan was quick to accept the changes and adjusted the bill. This was very appreciative.
The only issue we had was the land boundary. It looks like the previous owner was allowed to set up a "circle" driveway which meant we went on the neighbors property. When looking at the property up on the Onyx Google Property map, we were parking on the neighbors land and using their driveway. The Northend of the property line is literally the tree next to the cabin and goes up the street. The tree that has the house number is actually on the property line of the neighbors. Thank goodness the neighbor was extremely friendly and had no issues but could tell he is ready for some boundary definition. I am sure he had to repeat his issue with previous renters. It would be helpful to have a fence or roped off area as it is very easy to use the circular drive when one should not.
Otherwise it was a wonderful place for family to gather, play Apples to Apples at the table, swim, paddle the kayaks and boat and sit on the front porch to share many stories. We hope to rent again!
We rented the cabin in search of a nice relaxing time and it was everything we were looking for. Everything was clean and check in/out process was easy. Logan responded almost immediately to every question I had.
We had a blast with our friends and dogs. The water was so refreshing and it was so peaceful there. We caught so many fish right off the pier. Would defiantly recommend.
