About this property
Vacation home for 9 guests with 140m² in Bégadan (125645)
A country estate from the 18th Century - romantic, natural, beautiful! You will surely enjoy the wonderful location with the view of the vineyards on one side and the waves of the Gironde on the other side. The house is on a park-like property (approx. 3,100 sqm) with centuries-old trees. A spacious, one-story stone building with large windows and ideal space on approx. 140 sqm for four to 10 people is available for you to use alone. Ideal for family vacations, also with several families, or the Freundeskreis (please state a maximum of 6 adults and max. 4 children up to 14 years of age when booking; more / older children can also take part, provided they have a youth bed / bunk bed ( up to max. 60 kg) agree).
Inside the main house you will find four bedrooms, a living room, a kitchen, a bathroom and a toilet (see floor plan). The kitchen with a maximum of 10 seats is fully equipped (with gas stove, coffee machine, toaster, dishwasher, etc.); an open fireplace creates a romantic kitchen atmosphere. The living room (see photos) for about seven people is in the middle of the house; a large double door leads directly into the garden (towards the entrance gate), through the other one looks out over a small entrance hall onto the terrace behind the house and the wine fields behind the property. Of course, the living room also has an open fireplace, where you can enjoy a glass of wine in the evening in a relaxed atmosphere while the fire is crackling and flickering.
You have enough space to run around, play, lie, sunbathe, relax on the large house grounds. The large trees provide cooling shade even on hot days. At any time of the year you can sit in the garden for hours, look, dream and just "be there"; "Deceleration" to deliberately slow down time can be easily implemented here. And exactly the wine that you see growing directly behind the house can be obtained from the winery owner next door and enjoyed in the evening, at sunset or around the campfire.
Our country house is located in one of the most beautiful areas of France, in the famous Médoc wine region, approx. 70 km north of Bordeaux, approx. 12 km from Lesparre, the "main town" of the peninsula. The Médoc lies like a large peninsula between two large bodies of water, the Atlantic Ocean and the Gironde (sea delta). A small dirt road leads you through the wide, untouched banks of the Gironde directly to the water (approx. 100m away). The wine fields right behind the house are beautiful to look at in every season: fruity green in spring and summer, full of thick, juicy grapes in late summer and dazzling in all colors in autumn.
The fine sandy beaches of the Atlantic are only 25 minutes away by car. Well-known seaside resorts such as Montalivet-les-Bains or Soulac-sur-Mer offer everything that makes a beach fan's heart beat faster. Also ideal here: kitesurfing at Hourtin Lac, horseback riding on the Gironde, bike tours, hiking, ...
You should use the good location of our country villa for excursions in the surrounding area: Only a few kilometers up the Gironde is Pauillac, in the vicinity of which you will find the most famous wineries in France: the castles of the barons of Rothschild (Chateau Mouton Rothschild, Chateau Lafite), the You z. T. can even visit the Chateaux Palmer and Margaux etc. Most of the smaller winemakers of the Medoc also take pleasure in showing you wine tradition and wine culture by opening the gates of their cellars for you. There the barrels and often old, valuable bottles are stored in the cool shade; there you will get to know the wine and its growing areas, its locations, vintages and flavors during a wine tasting.
Of course, the metropolis of Bordeaux with its numerous sights and architectural peculiarities of the 18th Century worth a visit: z. B. the facades of houses on the quays, the Place de la Bourse, the opera house, the monument in honor of the Girondists, the numerous museums or the picturesque old quarters (Saint Pierre, Saint-Eloi, Saint-Michel, etc.). Our house is about 70 km (an hour's drive) from Bordeaux.
It would be a sin not to try the good French cuisine in this region of France. You will find many restaurants in all price ranges where you can eat really well. Seafood in particular (fish, oysters, mussels) is prepared in an excellent manner in many restaurants. The price for a menu with 4-5 courses is around 25 EUR (of course, there is no upper limit). In addition, there is no shortage of small bistros where you can enjoy traditional dishes. Fresh oysters and other regional products can also be found in the Montalivet market.
What distinguishes the Atlantic coast from the Médoc landscape on the Gironde? Once you have been there, you will see it: the Médoc is much more beautiful and varied than the coastline of Aquitaine. Drive through the natural small villages, which (unlike the seaside resorts on the coast) were not built for tourists, drive through hilly wine fields, oak and pine forests, past numerous wineries and castles - this landscape will delight you. Fortunately, it is still an insider tip to spend your vacation on the Gironde and still use the advantages of the Atlantic, as required. And: You will still receive a warm welcome in the surrounding villages near our country house, because there is no unpleasant tourist bustle here.
Now you already have a little taste of what to expect. Treat yourself to an eventful vacation in your country house in the Medoc - it's definitely worth it!
In summary, the following notes:
You "fit" into this country house and the surroundings of the Médoc if you ...
- love peace and untouched nature,
- appreciate a large garden with an abundance of flowers, shrubs and fruit trees that is available to you and in which your children can play undisturbed,
- rural atmosphere - with cows, geese, dogs, frog concerts, moles etc. - just to find "great",
- looking for a very spacious house with a touch of romance,
- want to really relax,
- also more often - maybe every two to three days - like to bathe in the sea or in a large freshwater lake or do water sports there: in just 25 minutes by car you can reach the most beautiful beaches and ideal water sports areas,
- are riders and would like to ride in the great outdoors,
- want to visit interesting places, sights and castles / wineries,
- enjoy good food and wine,
- do not shy away from contact with the local population, maybe even look for it - as much as your French skills or "sign language" allow - and want to experience "real" France.
You'd better not spend your vacation here if ...
- You absolutely want to go to the beach every day, because vacation consists only of beach life for you: Then you should rather choose an accommodation close to the beach.
- the sight of a field mouse or spider or flies, as they occur in the countryside, can spoil your vacation joy; In a country house there is always spin weaving, dust and the like, despite regular cleaning. The like, also possibly remains of animal hair (dog, cat, horse).
- You need "high-life" and disco every evening: You will hardly find this here, because "deceleration" is the order of the day.
Smoking is not permitted in the house (non-smoking house); outside, e.g. B. on the terrace, but of course you can smoke.
We would be very happy to welcome you as a guest in our country house!
