Summer Wind, Beachfront with incredible views! 5 miles from Galveston sea wall!


There is bed space for 10 people. 8 or 9 adults is comfortable. We do allow up to 11, with one on the couch or on the spare mattress that is under the bed. This beachfront home has one of the best views of any home on the West End, yet close to the fun of downtown Galveston. Easy walk to Galveston State Park. Our beach has a private feeling and is very quiet (no cars are allowed to drive on beach thus no worries about the kids/dogs). Once you cross the bridge from the mainland you will find a unique experience. We feel like we are entering a different world when we visit our beachfront island home! This is a pet friendly home with a pet fee of $75 per pet.

COVID-19: The house is ideal for social distancing. The beach is not crowded, there is plenty of outdoor deck space, and I recently upgraded the HVAC with a media filter and a UV air treatment system. Our cleaning company disinfects all touch surfaces (light switches, door knobs, counter tops, etc). If at any time our beach is closed down, the city prohibits short term rentals, or there is a state wide lock-down and you are prevented from using your reservation I will return all money paid. Please stay healthy!

MISC: This home is set back, plenty of beach in front and only small dunes between you and the beach. Please note, the map illustration can make it appear there are lots in front of Summer Wind. If you use a satellite view you will see this is not the case. This is a front row, ocean front home!

Beautiful beach house!

We loved everything about this house! It was so nice to be right on the beach especially with having our children who loved playing in the water and sand the entire stay. The house is fully stocked with appliances and dishes. We hope to be back soon!

Perfect location for relaxation!

This property was perfect for our two families to enjoy a relaxing spring break! The house is right on the beach making it easy for going back for lunch or restroom breaks. Everything was clean, there were tons of bath towels (bring your own beach towels) and we even got lucky with a couple of boogie boards! Just a short drive into Galveston for dinners. I would stay here again in a heartbeat!

The best thing this property has going for it is the location. I was appreciative that John allowed us to amend our stay and add our pet after the initial booking. Communication was pleasant and timely. The house is right in the beach and has amazing views and convenience to the beach. You can literally walk to the beach directly from the house. However, the cleanliness of the house is not what I’d hoped it would be. There were stains and dirt on the walls and doors and cabinets in the kitchen. It appears in some places that there has been significant water damage that has not been repaired. There was built up dust on the baseboards, return vent, and on general items in the house. The linens seemed clean. This house is superb for location, but looks very used. The kitchen was adequately stocked for cooking, but some pans were dirty and several utensils (knives, pizza cutter) were worn out. The main shower was also laughably tiny, like it belonged in a mobile home or something. I am 5’1 and found it difficult to turn around in. So, overall, great for location and view, but overpriced based on condition of the home.

Ocean Getaway

The property was beautiful and right on the beach with outstanding views. Easy checkin and checkout process. Neighborhood felt safe and comfortable. Bedrooms were small and house could use a little bit of polish.

Mothers day beach getaway

The property is wonderful. Three levels of decks, wonderful front beach views, and walking distance to beach. Its what we needed to break away from the chaos of the city. Will definitely recommend.

Perfect Location!

John's place is fantastic for hosting a group of 8! Everyone had their own beds and enough space. The outdoor decks are AMAZING and its right on the beach. Kitchen is fully loaded. Would stay again!

First time to the Texas Ocean

We had a great time and loved being so close to the ocean. It was a very convenient location with the kids. The property manager responded to questions quickly. We spent hours in the ocean, playing on the beach and touring the town. Thanks for a great time!

Great family get away

This was our second time staying at the beach house. We love the deck under the house. It's the perfect place to sit in the shade and enjoy the breeze and watch the waves. It's far enough from the busy city life so that the beaches aren't crowded but also close enough to run to the store or grab some dinner. We will definitely stay again.

Wonderful spot on the beach

Love the house, unfortunately we were unable to use the wonderful deck and beach because the weather was horrible , freezing cold and almost hurricane winds during our stay☹️

Great Weekend Get Away

The house is directly on the beach. It has three levels of decks. We really enjoyed sitting on the shaded deck. I would definitely like to come back for a longer stay. But next time I will bring my own pots and pans.

Doesn’t Get Much Better

The house is a dream. If you love to wake up and have coffee on the deck next to the ocean, this is the perfect place. Choice of 2 decks. Almost a 180 degree view of the ocean. Roomy home (we had a family of 5). You can find a place out of the sun at any point in the day with the decks. Or just walk to the beach in 10 seconds.

Perfect View

There is not a bad view to be found on this property. The multiple decks provide a lot of space to hang out, eat, or watch the sunrise. The house has great air conditioning, which cannot be said for some of our stays in Galveston, and it was really hot when we visited in August. Do not pack any beach toys because there is a shed full! It was just steps to the beach and fun,

Surf house!

Best view on the beach . It would be great for dogs. Close to beach, great uncrowded beach. We loved the neighborhood.Had everything you could possibly want . Master bath was small. I wonder if a big guy could fit in it. Besides that, the beach and water view was unbelievable!! Well go back!!!

Nemo’s first trip

I started renting this house in 2020. Lots of work refurbishing. I love this house. Never stayed in August before. The ac keeps the house nice and cool. In fact it got too cold for me ☺️. I’ll be back in a couple of months.

Perfectly Perfect

We love this house and it’s location. The beds are comfortable, kitchen has everything we needed, and the view is spectacular! We were fortunate to enjoy 3 very different weather conditions during our week stay which was quite fun! We had rainy and cold, sunny and warm, then windy and freezing. Texas weather is always changing! The house does sway in the wind, but that’s what beach houses are supposed to do. :) We definitely want to stay again!

I bought the house in 2008, and 2 months later, Hurricane Ike destroyed the foundation and broke our hearts. I spent the next year working on the house. It had to be lifted up and set on the beach. Once a new foundation was built, the house was placed on top and then much of the house had to be rebuilt. Once the house was finished, I spent the next couple of years working for a house moving company doing similar work another storm damaged houses along the gulf coast. In 2011 I moved to the east coast where I now work as a high school physics teacher and an on-call firefighter. The house is a source of pride for me and I try to always keep it as a welcoming second home for my guests. My wife and 2 girls enjoy coming back to Galveston to visit the house and a few old friends as often as we can.
