Very very clean, comfortable living furniture and lovely artwork and decor. Indoor gas fireplace was not hooked up. No dishwasher, but well stocked kitchen tools and like-new appliances. Enjoyed the sunroom, deck and firepit as well.Dorene was quick to respond to any inquiries.

This property is absolutely beautiful! It’s nicely decorated and very clean. The deck and yard area are right on the lake and we spent a lot of time enjoying the view. The call of the loon was magical! The house had everything we needed for our stay. The bedding and towels were soft and high quality. The mattresses were comfortable! These little touches made our stay even better. The host is incredibly kind and the communication was top notch throughout! The hardest part of our stay was having to leave - LOL.

This home is completely wonderful, ie the kitchen is fully outfitted with everything you need. The bedrooms are immaculate, the towels thick, the sofas were amazingly comfortable, all the interior decorating was very modern, relaxing and just a perfect place to vacation. Van Etten lake is 7 miles long and a mile wide. Perfect for swimming and fishing.Ascoda Beach Park is 8 minutes away on Lake Huron. A perfect beach for all beach activities. 13 miles to Tawas City if you need a Walmart. Fast food is 7 minutes from the Van Etten lake house. It is difficult to rent a boat to use on the Van Etten lake. I recommend bringing your own or have some for a pontoon boat. Enjoy this vacation option on every level.

Great Stay at the New Retreat

We had a great stay at the New Retreat. Property was very clean. The living room was perfect for relaxing, and the deck out back overlooking the lake was beautiful. Dorene was a great host and very responsive.

Summer cottage on the lake

This cottage is so cute and cozy. Love the decor. The cottage has everything you might need. It’s a 12 minute drive to a beautiful beach on Lake Huron. Would definitely go back.

We had the most enjoyable long weekend at the cottage on Lake Van Etten. The cottage was clean, updated, and beautifully decorated. We especially love hanging out on the deck…great views!

A perfect get away place with a lake view and the sunrise.

Quiet, cozy. Beautifully decorated. Everything I needed was there. It was nice to wake up and enjoy a cup of coffee on the deck watching the sunrise. Close to everywhere you need to go.

Wonderful place to relax and unwind while seeing magnificent Lake Huron

All 4 of us enjoyed the peaceful surroundings From relaxing at the fire pit or on the dock, to fixing meals in the kitchen and on the gas grill, our stay here was just what we needed. The view of Lake Van Etten from inside and outside was gorgeous! Comfy beds! Dorene was a very responsive host! Close to everything we wanted to do!

Everything was wonderful. It was cozy and nicely lit decorated. Dorene was wonderful. I had left some things and she so graciously made arrangements to mail the items to me. It is a wonderful, peaceful home with a fabulous dock. We are coming back for our honeymoon.

Perfect Getaway

This Cottage is adorable. The furnishings and remodel are beautiful. Plenty of places to sit in living room or seating outdoors. Bath supplies provided and dual Keurig/Coffee Pot with pods or grounds provided. Quiet waterfront where we watched the boats go by, fished and enjoyed nature. Really impressed with this Cottage. Definitely want to return for future visit.

Weekend Wedding

Adorable cottage. Very clean looks exactly as pictured. Peaceful coffee on the back deck was so nice just hearing birds and looking at the lake. I would definitely recommend this hidden gem.
