Welcome to the 1807 Williams Home!
Sit and visit in the Tavern Room with the people you love! Don't you feel like turning the music on and having a glass of wine just thinking about it...
On the other side of the attic, opposite the queen sleeper sofa, is our 4th "bedroom area" offering a super comfy queen-bed suspended from ropes! NOTE: The two areas have a partial wall between them but no door- great as a shared family space.
You will have use of the fire pit, which is shared with the Smith Cottage guests if rented separately. The red shed is where I keep bundles of wood. The Smith is left and William Home is beyond it to the right.
I love this fireplace in the kitchen and all the historical little treasures on the shelves. Feel free to pick things up and touch them! I wouldn't be able to help myself either!
**Note: Fireplaces throughout the Williams Home are decorative only.**

About this property

Historic 1807 Williams Home... A Nautical New England Inspiration!

Immerse yourselves in bygone days when at the 1807 Williams Home!

Filled with nautical New England inspiration and oozing with history and character throughout, our 4-bed/3.5-bath, pet-friendly vacation home was built by the relatives of one of the original families who settled on the east side of the Mystic River. Located in the quaint seafaring hamlet of Old Mystic at the Head O' the River, you will be central to all area attractions. Walk or bike the scenic River Road, and only a 5-minute drive to Mystic Seaport Museum and outstanding restaurants.

Experience colonial patriotic charm with 21st-century comfort and a splash of pure, homegrown hospitality to make your Mystic stay most relaxing.

A historical retreat…

The history buff in you will love the story behind the 1807 Williams Home. The building started as the Wayside Inn, a regular stopping point for stagecoaches on their New London-Providence runs. On January 17, 1840, Secretary of State Daniel Webster, traveling by sleigh, stopped in for a drink on his way to the Groton Ferry to catch a boat to New York! If only walls had ears, imagine the stories they could recount. Perhaps you could listen and hear the walls whisper words of the past!

**PLEASE NOTE**
As spring heralds new beginnings, we're delighted to announce the Williams Home & Smith Cottage will receive a fresh coat of paint, scheduled for the vibrant months of March through May, weather permitting. Our artisans will be at work Monday through Friday, ensuring your weekend stays are peaceful and uninterrupted. When guests arrive on Fridays after 4 PM, they will find the day's painting endeavors winding down, promising a serene start to your Mystic retreat. We're committed to preserving the charm and history of our maritime haven and appreciate your understanding as we enhance its beauty. Thank you for choosing Mystic Vacation Rentals, where every stay is a journey through time and comfort.

LIVING & ENTERTAINMENT

Two common rooms and a formal dining room mean that your family or friend group can spread out and relax completely during your stay. There is space for everyone, whether you want to come together as a group or take some 'you' time in a relaxing, private nook.

The Tavern Room (1st- floor)

This 3rd-floor common area is open to the bedroom on the other side of the attic and is furnished with a large sectional sofa and a queen pullout couch.

PROPERTY TRUTHS

The Williams Home & Smith Cottage property is on Main Street on a bustling corner at a 3-way stop sign across Holly Hock Antiques and the Old Mystic Post Office. It's busy with road noise during the day but a quiet and peaceful hamlet in the evenings.

Outdoor spaces and parking are shared with guests staying in the Williams Home main house and the Smith Cottage.

As the Williams Home is circa 1807, the floorboards are wide and move and creak a bit, but I think you'll appreciate how it adds to the charm and character of an antique home.

Sometimes, wooden homes' doors stick and need a push or a pull, as wood naturally expands and contracts with the New England weather.

Original glass windows can be drafty. While we treat for insects, occasionally, they find their way inside.

LARGER GROUPS

In addition to the Williams Home and Smith Cottage (which can accommodate up to 14 guests if reserved together), we have 2 more adjacent properties: the Denison Home (which can accommodate 10 guests) and the Carriage House (which can accommodate 14 guests), so we can accommodate 36-38 guests for larger gatherings.

Beautiful retreat
The house was stunning! So clean and organized with everything we could hope for. Everywhere you look is an interesting piece of art or antique. Our kids were mesmerized and loved exploring. The beds were so comfortable and the linens and down comforters so cozy. The back yard and lawn area behind (owned by the neighboring church) were great for our dog to wander! Debbie responded to initial questions immediately and then checked in once we arrived to see if we needed anything. She was so kind and thoughtful in her messages. We can’t wait to go back.

Early Nautical History
This was an exceptional stay for my family. Our family purpose in the area was to attend our son's Officer Commissioning at the U.S.C.G.A. New London. Everything blended perfectly together. The property is so unique having each room present its own story. Each corner captivating you to sit relax and explore. At first contact Debbie went to work immediately and made sure we became very comfortable with her organization and implementation "Apple Pie": Our family experience was best memories made. Thank you
