We used this Mystic Hills home as a base for exploring some of the NE during fall. The location was perfect as we were a short drive into the shopping/restaurants in Mystic as well as a grocery store. Visiting in the fall and having the apple cider mill almost next door to the property was the absolute best 'fall' touch to our vacation! We don't get to this part of the country often so we wanted to cover a lot of ground. This house was just over an hour away from Newport, RI and about 2 hours from Boston. There was also an entire vacations worth of hiking and scenery and activities we could have done and stayed close to the house! The house itself was such a great mix of new & old. Some of the original beams are exposed, the wooden stairs are super worn, etc but it's also been modified to work great for families today - the new back deck is a great space! The welcome basket with some starter K-cups and snacks were much appreciated after a long day of travel! The house was very thoughtfully stocked - the soft sided cooler was very useful for our day trips - as was the large foldable picnic blanket! It's always fun for the kids to play new games so it was appreciated that the games were new and organized (and still had all the pieces :) ). There's plenty of space in the side yard to hang out as well.Overall this house was a perfect fit for our family and I hope we'll have the chance to get back!!
We loved showing the kids the old details that were visible in the home.
The cider mill is just a couple houses down the street. We were able to catch them pressing apples.
Stayed 3 nights in Oct 2025
