Full kitchen with extras; Cable TV, high speed Internet & Wi-Fi; out-side grill; 1 hour from TPA airport, 1 hour from Weeki Wachee; 2 hrs. from Busch Gardens/Clear Water 1.5 hours to Disney Orlando. A fun place! Free use of kayaks. Please bring fishing poles, beach umbrellas & chairs! Central AC, fans in all bedrooms. A fun place with lots of space!

Great owner response

Loved this cute rental on a canal that I could kayak out to the gulf and mangrove tunnels from. Attention to detail was really thought of by the owner—from a welcome basket with goodies, to kayaks available for guests to use. The owner was very quick to respond to a couple of questions I had, and made our stay even better!

Love the Otter Pod!

We stayed here a few days after Christmas. Our family wanted to do activities in both Tampa and Homosassa so this was the perfect location! The house was clean and spacious and the canal view was amazing! We want to come and stay again when the weather is warmer so we can fully enjoy the outside area and activities. Wilma was a great host!

Quiet Getaway

Wilna was a great host and very easy to communicate with. The house is nice and clean and had everything we needed for our 4-night stay. The bedrooms are small but having queen beds is a great tradeoff! Enjoy the sun on the back deck in the morning while overlooking the canal. And the house was close enough for a quick 5 minute ride to Hudson Beach for amazing sunsets and ice cream!

Hi! My name is Wilna Erasmus. I know, it's not your typical American name! I was born and raised in South Africa. We immigrated to the USA with our three children in 2001. We have family in different continents. We love to travel and visit new places, but there's no place like home. We created The Otter Pod to be your home away from home,
away from the busyness of life. We created The Otter Pod for exactly what it means: A comfortable and relaxed- "Raft": This term is often used when otters are observed resting or floating together on the water's surface.
"Romp": This implies a more active and playful gathering of otters, characterized by their energetic interactions.
"Family": This term usually indicates a group of related otters, or close-knitted otter friends. These terms reflect the social dynamics and behaviors of otters, highlighting their playful and gregarious nature. This is exactly what we had in mind; a snug retreat or refuge; resting, but playful and fun place place. We want you to know that we love people and want you to enjoy your stay. I think it's important for you to know that we love animals, music, and art, and the joy of and blessings of getting together as family or friends. Small pets are welcome! Please keep a pets and children attended at all times as there is no barrier between the deck and the canal!

The feel of 'Old Florida Charm, where time stood still, and direct access to the Gulf is a Hidden Gem of Cape Cay. It creates a feeling of a hidden small community where everybody feels relaxed; take a trip down the canal, the mangroves or to the Gulf, enjoy some fishing off the deck, and expect to see some FL sea creatures and birds! At the same time, you will be close to restaurants, shopping centers, and a small drive away from Weekee Wachee River, , Sunwest park and Hudson Beach. Lots of things outdoor restaurants and the best Ice cream shop in the area!

What makes this property unique

Never judge a book by it's cover! The house is spacious with an open plan kitchen-dining-tv area. You will be surprised by a Bonus Room with a sleeper coach adjacent to the Main ensuite bedroom! We love the canal as it attracts sea life like dolphins, otters, manatees, stingray and fish, and occasionally, and otter or two! I think we stand out for the rustic, playful, coastal charm of the interior decorating, yet it is comfortable and inviting place to just be yourself and make memories with family and friends, like we do often when we don't have a booking!
