Endless skies abound with 360 degree views. Nearby hiking and a night sky filled with more stars than you can imagine. Create your own adventures and memories exploring this unrivaled landscape.
Enjoy a fire in the vintage wood burning fireplace or curl up with your favorite book out on the day bed. Our well stocked kitchen is ready for whatever your inner chef desires. Or fire up the BBQ for some outdoor cooking. Central heating and AC keep you comfortable regardless of the weather. Cozy queen bed and sofa sleeper with plush linens invite a restful sleep. Wi-Fi, Smart TV, Bluetooth speaker and a stack of board games to pass the time or just sit outside with a drink at the chiminea and watch the desert sky turn a deep purple at sunset. However you choose to spend your time with us we are confident that you will leave restored and refreshed. The desert has a way of doing that to people.
Guests will have the full 5 acres of the property to explore. Approximately 1 acre is fully fenced for dogs to roam. Please be aware this is the desert and there are critters that live here that may wander inside the fences. Do not leave your dogs unattended as there is always the possibility of a chance meeting.
We have tried to think of everything to make your stay as carefree and easy as possible. Contactless check in with door lock and gate code. In the unlikely event you do require something the host will be available via text to assist you.
Minutes from our cabin you will find The Integratron and their incredible Sound Baths, a must visit experience. LaCopine is the best food in the desert! Also Giant Rock Meeting Room and Landers Brew Company are close by. Pappy and Harriet's in nearby Pioneertown is a world famous live music venue set in a desert roadhouse with great food and better drinks. Breathtaking Joshua Tree National Park's West Entrance is 25 minutes away. Visit the antique stores of old Yucca Valley or the eclectic shops and art galleries in downtown Joshua Tree.
The cabin is located over 2 miles from paved roads and require driving on dirt roads. While these dirt roads are maintained by the county the conditions vary depending on the weather and amount of use between grading.

About the host
Hosted by Alexander Reid

Working in film production and real estate respectively we tend to get wound up pretty tight and need to escape Los Angeles and reset periodically. That inspired us to find places we could get to with relative ease that would allow us the freedom to do lots or do nothing. All of our properties do that.
We have been in love with the local desert and mountains for years. First discovering the majesty of the Mojave almost 10 years ago on a weekend excursion. After staying in a number of Airbnbs we decided to find a place of our own, falling in love with a little 1960 homestead cabin that hadn't been touched in years. Shortly after while exploring Idyllwild we stumbled across a 1925 former hunting lodge that had been in the same family for more than 40 years. Most recently we nabbed an unmolested Hugh Kaptor home a stones throw from downtown Palm Springs and embarked on a remodel that highlights the Palm Springs lifestyle. All three locations offer amazing vistas and a carpet of stars at night. Hike in Joshua Tree Nation Park, scale San Jacinto Peak in the San Bernardino National Forest or float in bliss in Palm Springs. Peaceful and restorative the high and low desert and mountains are the perfect escape

Why they chose this property
More than 2 miles down dusty dirt road you leave all of your city cares behind. No street lights to obscure the carpet of stars overhead. Just a gentle breeze and whisper of the majestic Mojave. Sit out by the wood burning chiminea and sip a something and watch the sky turn from blue to purple to black.
Wake up early and watch the suns first rays wash over the mountains to the east and bathe the house in the most magnificent etherial morning light. Sit out on the daybed with a mug of tea and plan your days activities or plan to do nothing at all. Our past guests have done both and love every minute of their time here.
