About this property
ON 62-acre Broad Ripple park and a mile from Broad Ripple village
Broad Ripple Treetop Lodge on the Park is a quiet retreat in the middle of the city, designed with charm and whimsy in a tasteful lodge style. This is a unique 2nd floor creative space that will make you feel completely at home, while also inspiring you.
We now offer free laundry service!
The large common room is beautifully designed with soft leather sofa, huge antique rug, vintage faux fur chair, creative lighting, and TV with free streaming channels and local stations.
In the dining area the mission-style dining table expands to seat 6 and stores a dozen games. An artist-created driftwood chandelier hangs overhead.
The full, bright kitchen has ample dishes, cooking utensils, Ninja blender, roaster, full stove/oven, dishwasher, cooking spices, quality coffee (including decaf), tea, and more. You'll be greeted with a welcome tray of fruit and sweet and savory snacks, including gourmet local chips. And in the full-size fridge: creamer, butter, water bottles, and condiments.
All this opens to the large balcony deck, nestled between two giant 125 yr + oak trees. There is seating for 6, ambient lighting at night, and a busy humming bird feeder. We just added a Char-Griller charcoal grill/smoker. (We provide charcoal and wood chips.)The deck is excellent for morning coffee or evening wine.
The charming bedrooms feature quality Beautyrest mattresses on queen beds (We're serious about sleep!), with all-white quilts, blankets, and 400 TC sheets, so you KNOW everything is clean. In each room there are ample soft white towels, 5 quality pillows, extra blankets, fans, luggage racks, and individual reading lights. There are Hepa filters in each room.
Romantic Bedroom 1 features a hardwood floor and plush rug. It has a bonus office/reading nook with desk and bookshelf. Bedroom 2 has a cozy ship-lap sleeping nook and charming antique leaded window with shutter.
The full bath features a farm sink, bidet toilet, and excellent shower water pressure, plus quality shampoo, conditioner, and Aveeno body wash provided.
The house sits on historic 62-acre Broad Ripple Park (it is the front yard, there are no houses across the street), where nature and outdoor exercise are literally steps away. Play tennis or pickleball on the free courts, enjoy a morning walk around the park, use our kayaks for a drift on the river (which is 1 block away (minimal rental charge)). There is a community pool to walk to in the summer and brand new community center with indoor track and basketball/volleyball courts.
All this, yet you are minutes away from upscale shopping at Keystone Fashion Mall, wonderful local restaurants in Broad Ripple Village, at Ironworks, or downtown Carmel, and attractions like Grand Park Sport Complex, the world-class Children's Museum, downtown Indy, or the Indy 500 Speedway.
Note that Treetop Lodge is on the 2nd floor, with 14 steps. The first floor is occupied, but there are NO shared spaces and your front door entrance is completely private.

About the host
Hosted by Scott McElroy
Our Treetop Lodge on Broad Ripple Park is on a 62-acre park in the artsy village of Broad Ripple. It's really a dream location for us. We love to travel (Northern California and Italy are our favorites), eat out, listen to great music, enjoy the arts, argue about interior design, and dote on our precocious mountain cur, Madeline.
We have two grown children, one a firefighter and the other an artist married to an engineer. Both of them own homes in the neighborhood, and we get to walk the dog past their houses every day!
We regularly talk about how we can get more cake into our lives.
I'm a writer and non-profit director, and my work focuses on the intersection of creativity and spirituality. My wife, Danielle, is a medical estheticisn at Renova Skin in Carmel. She focuses on making skin look as beautiful as possible.
We love to offer comfort, care, and creativity through the hospitality of our Treetop Lodge.
Currently, I've been pondering a quote from Tolkien: "All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us."

Why they chose this property
We searched years for this unique home. Its immersed in nature, AND in iconic, artsy Broad Ripple.
We have deep roots in Broad Ripple. My (Scott) family brought me to this park as a baby. I have lived in Broad Ripple most of my adult life. Both our kids were raised here. I thought I knew it pretty well, but while driving around one day in the early 2000s looking for our next home, I got a little turned around and ended up on this double dead-end street where all the houses face the secluded nor side of the park. I immediately said "I want to live here someday!"
It turned out that one of my mother's friends live on the street and when she heard they neighbors were thinking about selling she call my mom, who called me. I immediately drove over, knocked on their door, and made Mr. and Mrs. Virgin and offer.
We've owned the home since 2003 and have renovated or redone every room. The Lodge is full of meaningful decor and items, and if you like that kind of thing you can leaf through the book that tells what everything is.
We hope you enjoy the nieghborhood and the park as much as we do. Take a morning or afternoon stroll in the park, rent our kayaks for a peaceful paddle on the river, walk over to Lucianna's for dinner, and have a glass of wine on the the back deck. And let us know if you need anything at all to make your stay more perfect.
