Wonderful cabin in a nice secluded area. Kids loved the loft. Adults enjoyed porch for coffee every morning. Hosts were fantastic in communicating. Provided just what we needed, or let us know before if we needed to bring some things ourselves.
Everything exceeded our expectations! From the absolute cleanliness, to the simple but substantial accommodations to how incredibly comfortable the king bed is, to the personal communication with us from the owners to the inspiring view--everything made our Christmas getaway one to remember fondly. Thank you!
It was nicely remodeled with wall to wall wood flooring. The large window view of the mountains was spectacular and it has extra large patio to hang out in and barbecue. Remember to bring a propane tank if you want to use the Barbeque grill. Nearby restaurants/ bars Pierpoint and Ponderosa lodge have great food. The local pub in town has really good 12” pizzas for fast food. All the local Sequioa trees are a must see!
Excited on arrival to see deer at the cabin, soon realized they were there often, making it extra special. Property was clean and well maintained. Hosts very helpful. No cell service but easy WiFi. Road 190 under construction but that didn’t prevent us from enjoying our stay. ( end of May 2024)
Place was great. It was a nice cabin. One of the best features was how spacious it was. Beautiful views out the windows and from the deck. Very cold the first night, but warmed up thru the weekend, especially after using the awesome fireplace. Needed more trash bags and perhaps paper towels. But all in all, it was a wonderful experience. Highly recommend and would love to go again.

About the host
Hosted by Benjamin
My family and I grew up nestled right at the base of the foothills of Sequoia National Park, and have loved these mountains our whole lives. As a kid, my grandpa owned a Cabin here in Camp Nelson for years, before tragically selling it in preparation for his retirement. We always dreamed of getting it back, and now the family has 3 up here and this is one of them. We try to make this place the best guest experience possible, with ambitions to continually add more amenities to make it better.
Why they chose this property
The nearby Tule River (2min walk) is my favorite piece of this grand forest. But the nearby giant Stagg Tree (5th largest in the world) is perhaps my kids favorite since it has a burnout cavern the can play around in. There's also several nearby hikes that escalates to many dozens within an hour's drive. Two of my favorite giant redwood groves are here, Belknap Grove and Trail of 100 Giants.
What makes this property unique
Our open-layout with large windows spanning the exterior tree canopy and Slate Mountain is perhaps only beat by going out on the deck itself. We boost perhaps the most spectacular and immersive view in the community. The cabin looks out over the top of the forest, which rolls out from our very large deck high enough to feel like your in the trees, and the flowing river can be heard just below.
