Beautiful River Front Log Cabin Treehouse with the Colorado River running through the back yard. This newly remodeled 2 bedroom 1300 sq ft cabin has a wrap around upper deck for spectacular views of the river, gas grill; spacious living room with vaulted ceiling; Mayan family indoor/outdoor hammock; Sleeps 6, king and queen bedrooms and very comfortable pull out sofa bed; fully equipped kitchen with all amenities; large bathroom with huge walk-in stone and glass tiled shower; washer/dryer; ping pong table, picnic table and porch swing on downstairs patio; private dock great for fishing and kayaking. Only 2 miles from historic downtown Bastrop; 25 miles from the airport (AUS) and 40 minute drive from Austin. Golfing, kayaking, bicycling, shopping, fishing, live theater, antique shops, farmer's markets.


Beautiful Log Treehouse: We bought this cabin in the summer of 2009 and feel so fortunate to be able to share it with guests and friends and family. All three of our kids (now grown) love coming here to kayak, fish, golf, bird watch, relax and explore with their families. Our cabin is nestled high up in Pecan, Sycamore, Mimosa and Redbud trees. The view from the upper deck is fantastic. Great for bird watching. We hear the owls at night and watch red tailed hawks make nests and raise their babies. We have left the chicken coop standing as some day we hope to retire here and raise a small flock. You can't beat this for a perfect vacation spot whether you're wanting adventure or relaxation.

Most Historic Town in Texas: Bastrop is known as the 'most historic small town in Texas'. Historic Main Street has lots of interesting shops great for hunting antiques, great restaurants, live music in the evenings and a good old down home environment. There are an abundance of parks, several excellent golf courses, places to rent bikes and kayaks, live theater at the Bastrop Opera House and incredible historic homes. We're only 40 minutes from Austin and 30 minutes from the Austin Bergstrom Airport

Down by the river

The place is on the river. It is clean and has everything you can think of just not TV. In the dark it is dark and hard to find. But you are on the river. AC works great. Hot water is hot. Beds are comfy. Theres a hammock in the living room just no TV.

We were in town for the F1 race in Austin and this was a perfect location for that event. Very little traffic no matter what time we traveled there. The house is in a great location along the Colorado River with gorgeous sunrise view. Owners have made sure that you’ll have everything you need for a great stay!

Relaxing get away

We loved our time at this sweet cabin!! Even though it rained while there, we enjoyed time on the beautiful deck, watching the river. We were 5 minutes from Bastrop and enjoyed hiking in Bastrop State Park and eating downtown. The cabin had all of the supplies that we needed and more. I would definitely recommend this cabin and we will be back!!

Perfect Getaway-from-It-All Cabin

The place was perfect inside and out! Wonderful vista, comfortable accommodations, and peaceful natural environment. Loved waking up very early to hear birds, cicadas, frogs, and other sounds of life near the river. Great wrap around porch and place to lounge with coffee while watching sunrise. Very inviting setting all round. Can’t wait to return!

Nice little get away!

Clean, cozy house on the river. Great view from porch and easy access to river for fishing. The home is well appointed and maintained, comfortable beds, quiet surroundings. There is not a single TV, but it’s kind of nice not to have that distraction!

Perfect unplug

This cabin is located right on the river and is a perfect place to relax and unwind. The town is very close with a bunch of cute shops and restaurants on the Main Street. The kitchen is much nicer than typical VRBO rentals. You can tell the owner takes pride in the home. We will be back to this location soon!

Colorado River Christmas

We had a great time at the Colorado River cabin. It was our first attempt at a destination Christmas and a good time was had by all. The cabin was clean, comfortable and well appointed. The owners have given great thought to what their guests may need and have pretty much covered all the bases! Due to the great weather we were able enjoy the ping pong table as well.

We had the best stay at Steve and Linda’s River House! The river view from the deck is wonderful and captures the bend in the river perfectly.! The place was exactly as described, had everything we needed and was spotless. Steve was very attentive and responded quickly to requests. Five stars all the way! River side view

It was wonderful sitting on the balcony overlooking the River. Very peaceful, quiet neighborhood. The decor inside the cabin was very nice & extremely clean...well stocked kitchen, both a coffeepot & Keurig, plus a kettle to make hot tea..all the utensils. Bring your own music, as there is no TV, which made it more relaxing to just listen to our own music. Plenty of blankets & pillows, comfortable king bed. Very quiet & location is wirhin 10 minutes of town & restaurants. Highly recommend.

Steve and I (Linda) live in Austin, TX. Steve has a tile installation business in Austin and I am a counselor. Steve was born in west Texas. I'm from New Jersey but have lived more than half my life in Texas. Our children were all born in Houston. We love Austin and the surrounding area especialy Bastrop and may retire there one day.

Why they chose this property

We were so lucky to find this incredible cabin on the Colorado River in Bastrop that was previously owned by a friend of my sister. Once we saw how beautiful and peaceful it was we couldn't believe our good luck. We fell in love! It's such an incredible place for our family to gather. We fish, swim, kayak, ride bicycles, play ping pong and, oh yes, completely relax from the stresses of our busy lives.

What makes this property unique

The back yard has a private dock where you can sit and fish or launch a small boat or kayak. The cabin is kept immaculately clean. It's so spacious with vaulted ceilings in the living room. The Mayan family hammock is always up inside the cabin but can easily be hooked up on the upper deck. It's hard to find a more peaceful experience than having breakfast or coffee on the deck overlooking the river.
