Growing up my family would frequent the old bar this beautiful home once was. Through out the years I’ve watched in hopes someone would save it. The owners did was an amazing job! It was absolutely perfect and we couldn’t have been more pleased! Jack was great and super responsive.
My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Lookout Lodge. Upon walking in, we felt right at home. Attention to detail was evident and appreciated. The location is ideal as a jumping point to The Blue Ridge Parkway, West Jefferson, Boone, and Nkrth Wilkesbor
Me and my son stayed here for the 2024 NASCAR all star weekend end. The cabin was very nice, clean and well stocked. Would definitely stay here again. 👍👍
The view of the mountains are so beautiful from the back deck.
The owner had everything that you need if you forgot to bring something .
I loved that he had a different theme for each bedroom and I also loved the way he decorated everything.
I most definitely recommend this place for your stay.

The house was great. Everything needed for a quick getaway was there. It was exceptionally clean. Each bedroom had a cute theme. The history of the property was fascinating. The view from the back deck is a winner. We enjoyed our stay.
The views were awesome and rivaled those on the Parkway. We spent a lot of time on the deck. The cabin is perfect for a larger group but not too big for just the two of us. You're just a short distance to West Jefferson, should you choose to explore. For us this was a perfect place for our weekend respite. I hope we can return soon.
We enjoyed staying at this property. It is just off a main road, so there is some traffic noise, but it did not deter from the experience. Our family jumped on the parkway and hiked a short section of the MST since it was so close to the property. We also visited Boone and the Beech Mountain areas which were just a short trip away. It is also very close to West Jefferson, which has a lot of shops and areas to check out. At the end of each day, the cabin was relaxing to return to and enjoy the sights off of the back deck.
We arrived shortly after the hurricane and didn't have any power or water at the house. Jack, the host, stayed in constant touch with us and worked to make our stay as comfortable as possible. We were attending a wedding, so didn't have a choice whether to stay or not. With that said, the house was really nice, lots of special touches and beatiful view from the back porch. This used to be a bar, so the history behind the rennovation made it even more enjoyable. The rental is right on Hwy 16, so some car noises, but not a big deal that affected our stay.
Great view, kitchen & bathrooms have every basic need you'll need ( even had sticks for cooking marshmallows over a fire). Snack station was appreciated. Firepit & firewood was used for smores making. I could've spent all day on the deck listening to the birds. Owner was very diligent during our stay. So much detail went into this home. Only thing was the coffee machine; it had the coffee pot & k-cup components but the k-cup part didn't work. Additionally, coffee machine needed a thorough washing since it looked like guests before us reused the coffee pot water to make a new pot of coffee.
Our stay at this home was absolutely wonderful. It was immaculately clean and fully stocked with everything we could possibly need. From the moment we booked in August, the communication with the hosts was exceptional—they responded promptly to every message. Unfortunately, a flood hit Western NC just before our vacation, but the hosts stayed in touch daily, keeping us updated on the power situation and local conditions. Thankfully, the power was restored the night before our trip, and the hosts even went to the house themselves to ensure everything was in order before we made the 4.5-hour drive from the coast.
Check-in and check-out were seamless, making the entire process stress-free. The only minor concern was the proximity to the road, but it didn’t take away from our experience. At night, the only traffic noise we noticed was the occasional loud vehicle like a tractor-trailer. The view from the back deck was simply breathtaking, and we're already planning our next trip back. We will definitely be staying at Lookout Lodge again!
We wanted a spur of the moment adventure and were able to book the cabin the 2 days before check in. Just wanted to have some relaxing family time but had to have mountain views and the cabin was perfect for what we wanted! Sunrises were beautiful each morning, went to the explore the Cascade Falls just 13 minutes away, and eat at the Mounatain Aire Seafood & Steaks just 2 minutes away. The cabin kitchen is fully stocked only need to bring your food & drinks, made it easy for cooking. Reading about the cabin transformation was educational and we did have 2 separate visitors that knocked on the door wanting to know if the bar was open, which we found entertaining. The weather showed possible snow for the day we were to leave but we wanted to have the kids (and ourselves) enjoy. It was easy to communicate with Mr. Frazier for adding an additional night to our stay. Well, it did snow and snow a lot more than we expected, which made the highway in front of the cabin pretty unsafe to drive we’d say, but the snow plowed did come by multiple times. We were grateful Mr. Frazier reached out to us the night before checkout to check our safety about leaving in the morning after some snow had melted. We were able to work, relax and enjoy our family with the Mountain views just as we wanted. Wonderful way to ring in the new year. (I suggest adding a small desk by the window next to the TV so if anyone else has to work during vacation they could at least enjoy being distracted by the view)
While a number mountain cabins in West North Carolina and Southern Virginia may require a 4WD to access the property, this one is very easy to get to. With a million-dollar view, this cozy and comfortable 3BR cabin is set up for vacationers. When you arrive, you will not be competing to make your memories in an environment full of someone else's personal belongings. The owner cleverly appointed their place to provide a welcoming energy with smart use of space.
Very close to the Blue Ridge Parkway, Rodies Cafe just a couple miles in Glendale Springs (with an amazing local made crafts and gift shop next door), West Jefferson and Boone a short drive away.
Our group of 6 were able to enjoy our time and dine together. The place spacious enough with the layout and deck to spread out as well. Kitchen was stocked with cookware and spices. Bathrooms had plenty of towels and some extra toiletries as well. We enjoyed a great game of Scrabble from the games provided. The gas fireplace was welcome during the chilly weekend.
We will definitely use this place for family guests in the future. We were more than satisfied with our stay. Thank you!
Everything was perfect! The decor of the cabin set the mountain mood and the hosts had everything available that we could possibly need or want. Really enjoyed celebrating our 45rth anniversary there and would definitely go back again with family. I have to say our first concern on arrival was the traffic noise but inside the cabin we didn't hear a thing and slept like babies. Treat yourselves at some point with the beautiful view from from the deck and friendliest locals imaginable!!! Connie and Norman Brooks from Wilmington NC
The property is in pristine condition, exactly as described and photographed. We experienced immense tranquility, with breathtaking views and a star-studded sky. Additionally, it offers easy access to various attractions.
We loved our stay in very stylish place. Each corner is theme based and you can see how much love is there in every detail. You literally have everything you need there to live. I could not believe it when I read other reviews, but that is really so. The only thing that was not that positive is traffic noise. Unfortunately cars are driving by all the time.
We had a family reunion nearby and a hotel with adult sons who don’t like to share a bedroom due to snoring would not have worked. Each of us had our own bedroom so it was perfectly comfortable. The cabin is decorated with a lot of attention to detail. I was impressed with the efficient layout of half bath nestled between two bedrooms with pockets door to each which fit vanity/sink and toilet in the smallest space. The only issue was no air conditioning on first evening due to an unknown shortage after thunderstorm. Jack addressed the issue the very next day, but with the heat it was a rough start. We appreciated his excellent communication and for driving 3 hours to address the problem himself. We believe this was a once off and would highly recommend the cabin.
Lookout Lodge was a perfect hub spot for all of our Boone area adventures! The property was very clean and well appointed - and THE VIEWS!!!Jack is a super attentive host and was very responsive to all requests. We'd love to come back!
Beautiful Mountain Getaway — Cozy, Clean, and Perfectly Located
My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this cozy, mountain cabin. The location was perfect — close to West Jefferson, Wilkesboro, Boone and the area where we plan to build our own cabin. The renovations to this historic home were beautifully done, with a unique paint color palette paired with warm wood tones throughout. The back deck was the highlight — we loved relaxing on the porch swing, watching the clouds and weather roll over the mountains. As a birdwatcher, I also appreciated being able to place a feeder (with the owner’s kind permission) and enjoy seeing mountain birds. The decor throughout was full of charming, historical touches, and the cabin was very clean, spacious and well-stocked. We were provided with plenty of towels, toiletries, places to store our luggage, hooks for backpacks/other and all the kitchen essentials. We would happily stay here again — a wonderful, peaceful getaway!
