Exceptional host and location for dark skies and nearby hiking!Kathey is a 15/10 host - the cabin was comfy and cozy for two with so many homey touches that matter to us - ice cubes in the freezer, filtered water, tissue box, hot cocoa, fresh eggs, USB ports on each side of the bed, and more. Be sure to take advantage of Kathey's offer to tour the historic grist mill right behind the cabin - fascinating! We really enjoyed our stay.
We spent a lovely night there. Downloaded the Merlin bird id app and was amazed by how many birds were on the property. Nice sunset over the hills behind Goose lake. Would stay again.
We are on a long road trip and had come fromLe Grande, OR. This cozy cabin was quiet and Kathy was very attentive and hospitable. We were blessed to find this location on our journey.
This place was amazing! Every little detail was thought of. The decor was so cozy and the sleeping accommodations were very comfortable. I would recommend this place to anyone.
I loved it here. So very peaceful and exactly what I was looking for to escape the city for a few days. Lots of little touches that made me feel at home. I would definitely stay here again.
This was wonderful. The sunsets, the stars at night, sweet walks at the local state park. We had great day trips to check out pretty amazing landscapes. Wonderful spot.
Our stay was everything we wanted. A break from our busy lives, with some small town fun to keep us interested. The Grist Mill (on the property) is super cool to tour with host Kathey, who is wonderful.

It means so much that you and your family had a fun yet relaxing time! It's why I do this. 😊 It's always fun to watch others find the wonder in the mill, too. Thanks for choosing our little Guesthouse for your vacation!
Warm, welcoming, and user-friendly. Beautiful setting, well appointed, and easy to access. Three children and one adult, we had everything we needed. Will be our go-to place when visiting family and friends in the future.
Off the beaten path, this lovely small cabin has everything you need. Great views of the sky - beautiful cloud formations, great sunsets, lots of stars. If you’re looking for comfortable solitude, this is the place.
We absolutely loved this sweet little hideaway! Beautiful views, peaceful, very comfortable and well equipped. We could have stayed for days. Kathy was awesome and we loved having the pups around. Will return in the future! Highly recommend!
The cottage is so beautiful; the host has obviously put much care into its ambiance, so many thoughtful kitchen and other items (even dog bowls and treats!), lovely decorations and squeaky clean! She gave us a tour of the yet-to-be restored but grain meal next door…it was fascinating!

Wow I had such a nice time here with husband and kids! It's fully stocked with everything you could possibly need -- even things I didn't know I needed! Can't wait to go back just the two of us. 10/10
Thank you!
My husband and I needed an affordable and cozy spot to stop midway from Portland to Reno and that is exactly what we got. The cottage had everything we could have needed for a quick night and the bed was extremely comfortable even though we usually prefer a king. We hope to have time to stay a couple of nights in the future when we need to unplug from the city! PS - we loved seeing the rainbow flag in the yard, made us feel comfortable!

So glad you enjoyed your stay! We would love to have you back.
Super cute property, set up really well for guests, many lovely rustic touches, easiest check in/check out process ever, quiet, clean, beautiful views - especially the sunset over the lake. My only hesitation in giving a good review is that others might find this treasure and it will be all booked up the next time I'm in town!

About the host
Hosted by Kathey Delaney
Hello. I'm Kathey, your hostess. I am a retired healthcare worker with goals towards building a sustainable, permaculture-based homestead. I also work at the local library. My better half is Chris, a paramedic for Lake County EMS. We believe our guesthouse is the perfect place to disconnect from the world a little. An off-the-beaten-path getaway full of cozy comfort, quiet, star-filled nights, and a little old-fashioned fun.
Why they chose this property
The property is 4 acres of sagebrush land on the slopes of the Warner Mountain foothills, in the largest, International Dark Sky Sanctuary. We sit twenty minutes from Lakeview, OR, and twenty minutes from the southern end of the Oregon Timber Trail. Our guesthouse was once the gas station for Fairport, OR, and has been painstakingly updated with modern facilities while keeping it's quaint, vintage feel. Views from our land never cease to amaze, regardless of the season; day or night. We have multiple, old outbuildings that are perfect for painting, sketching or photographing. The most interesting of these is an historic grist mill built in1871 (non-operational). Come, sit, relax and enjoy the view.
