Cozy family holiday home

Comfortable stay within a short drive to Lahinch, and a good base for trips to Cliffs of Moher, Doolin Cave, and a day trip to Inisheer. Stocked with everything we needed. Beautiful view of the surrounding countryside, and close to a great seafood restaurant (make reservations at Barrtra before you come. ) Short walk down to the waters edge, where we enjoyed climbing on the rocks. Highly recommend.

Perfect Clare location!

“Soheen” is a beautiful, spacious cottage with views of the ocean. It had everything we needed for our 3 day stay. It’s a short distance from the Cliffs of Moher, Doolin (ferry to the Aran Islands) and the Burren. Our children enjoyed the upstairs bunk room and the large garden.

Beautiful home

Beautiful home in a quiet remote setting. We loved our stay and highly recommend. It is very remote, but not too far from town which has everything you could need. Very clean, well equipped, enough room for everyone. Watch for Ben, who seems to be the 4-legged neighborhood greeter.

Pretty countryside views but convenient to Lahinch

We enjoyed our second stay at Soheen very much. As usual, the weather was ever changing and provided lots of dramatic scenes outside, which were best viewed from the comfort of the big kitchen. It was nice to have the hedges trimmed compared to how they were for our first visit, which improved the view from the kitchen. In addition to the kitchen, there are several different seating areas downstairs and upstairs, which is a key reason we like the house so well. The internet was definitely improved and the owner immediately dealt with one issue we had with the hot water. A very well laid out house, so quite functional but also very comfortable and cozy.

Lovely spacious clean peaceful home with everything you need

Our family of five stayed here and it was top notch. The spacious kitchen equipped with everything allowed us to create heavenly meals together and enjoy on the lovely dining table with windows that open to incredible views. The living area is very comfortable to lounge and spread out. The bedrooms are generously sized and beds comfortable. Bathrooms (3) perfect. All appliances, amenities and wifi worked perfectly and the host's instructions for everything were detailed and understandable. The hosts left helpful ideas of things to do and places to visit in the area. The home sits on a beautiful piece of property nestled near the water - with outstanding views. It is perfectly clean and well maintained and a place to truly unwind. We made short trips into the quaint nearby towns of Ennistymon, Lahinch, and Doolin for golf, groceries, spa/facial at The Falls, pubs and music. We wish we could have stayed here longer - it was tops of the seven places we stayed on a two week trip. We would recommend without any hesitation. Anyone who stays here is fortunate and blessed. Thanks for providing such outstanding accommodations and hospitality. You helped our family create memories to last forever.

Beautiful, modern Irish house in a very scenic location. Private but convenient to many attractions. Clear instructions to operate household systems. The owners were super responsive to questions/concerns. We didn't bring family or children, but the house is well equipped for all ages. An added bonus is the gourmet restaurant a three minute walk away.

Location fantastic and beautiful house and yard. Very quiet and Owners responded to all inquiries. We had unusual fantastic weather up to 80 and sunny so no a/c made it warm upstairs. I would definitely stay here again and would highly recommend to friends for location and size. Lahinch is a great town somewhat unknown but we loved it

The home was clean, beautifully decorated and packed with all the amenities needed for an easy stay! We had a party of seven- including children, and it was a dream! The owners were engaging and prompt to respond with any/all questions. The town of Lahnich is fabulous, and I can’t imagine a more perfect place to stay in the west coast! Perfect Irish Holiday

We had plenty of space for a family of five with kids from 5-13 years old. The yard is huge and flat…perfect for outdoor playing with a football. The home is a perfect balance of the old and new. All the modern comforts and all the charm of an Irish farmhouse by the ocean. Lovely.

Beware!!

Our time in Lahinch was absolutely stunning! We enjoyed spending time with our family who we hadn’t seen in two years. The location was just perfect! I have to say the house worked out well for our family and everything was great until I received an email from the owner blaming us for plumbing issues. We arrived and there was a little bit of water on the floor in the 2nd floor bathroom. I wiped it up and never saw water again. We received a bill for $532 because apparently water within the walls and floor (something no one can see, especially cleaners who take care of this house could see) it must have dripped down after water being within the walls and damaged the ceiling in the bedroom on the first floor. The owners have now blamed this on us. SHAME ON YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They said nothing like this has ever happened before. We understand that but clearly a plumbing issue was not our fault. There was an issue before we even stepped foot into the house. The owner first showed us pictures of the bathroom floor wood damage. Then changed his story and said the floor has gotten damage before because people have left the window open. Clearly that floor was like that before we arrived. Can’t blame us for that. Then goes on to say the ceiling damage is our fault. Again can’t blame us for water leaking behind the walls and ceiling. If we would have seen a bathroom flooded or something being damaged we would have certainly contacted the owner to let them know. BEWARE OF OWNERS!!

About the host

Hosted by Joan and Brian

Host profile image
Joan and Brian live in Oakville in Canada and have 3 wonderful children with our youngest in University! Brian grew up 20 miles/ 30 kms from Soheen and visited Lahinch every Sunday as a child and vacationed there every summer. Lahinch is a very special place for us and just thinking of there reduces our stress! Soheen is a house that we never can stay there too long and we get so excited every time we stay there! We built this house with the best of materials and appliances. It is the house we intend to retire in.

Why they chose this property

Soheen (or in Gaelic is Súichín) is a very special place for us and it lives up to its name which means 'a place of rest'. The review are spectacular and we just love spending time there when we can! We built this house with the greatest care and attention to maximize comfort and be a restful house in keeping with the surrounding natural area.

What makes this property unique

We, like our guests, that visit our home just love the atmosphere in the house - the wonderful finish which makes it most comfortable. Large open kitchen with wood floor and a perfect place to relax and enjoy the views of the countryside. The living room with natural stone fireplace which is just a perfect place to read a book and take it easy. The master bedroom with its en-suite and has a fireplace to give it that real Irish feel. The large gallery area on the 2nd floor which has a desk to sit and read and do yoga or stretching exercises! The main bedroom upstairs which has wonderful views and the feel that you are in another world and of course the children's room which has 2 bunk beds (3 singles and a double)! A place of rest and rejuvenation !
