About Karen Visser
Your hosts have raised nine children on the adjoining property. We are a homeschooling family and operate a family manufacturing business, here.
Karen Visser purchased this Cabin in 2004
Why Karen Visser chose Butler
This cabin was built entirely by our four sons, with Dad's oversight, as a homeschool project. Working every Saturday, from daylight until dark, for nearly three years, was a tremendous family experience and educational opportunity. The result is a handcrafted cabin with unique charm.
What makes this Cabin unique
Nights around the fire ring, picnics and cookouts, peace and solitude. Lots of recreational opportunities, hiking, biking and boating.

This was our second year staying there. We plan to go again next year. Always a wonderful experience
Best place ever!
This place was perfect and we would definitely stay here again!!!
Wonderful mountain cabin
This is a great log cabin in a peaceful place. We had a wonderful weekend here and plan to return soon.
We loved our stay at the Corwood Cabin!
Our family loved our stay at the cabin! It was rustic, clean, and stocked with everything we needed. The mattresses were very firm, but we were able to get amble rest and relaxation in the quiet country mountains. Loved the outdoor seating options, grill, and games, as well as the short trail behind the house for morning walks. We enjoyed going to Watauga Lake and swimming at Shook Branch Beach, as well as Blue Hole Falls. Closest big grocery store was about 20 mins away, and it had everything we needed for the week. A couple of shops and restaurants were located closer. Only issue we ran into was the dog that lived at a nearby farm that kept coming over. Very sweet dog, but presented some logistical issues when we had our own dog outside as they only somewhat got along. We were able to keep convincing the dog to leave. The farm did have lots of animals to look at and say hello to, which our 6 year old loved. Great stay if you're looking for a quiet and remote getaway!
Very nice and unique property. Owners were great to work with and the place and amenities are great.
Loved it so much we have booked our next stay. Loved our hosts, location, and property. Counting the days til October!
Convenient to the Appalachian trail for hiking, the Virginia Creeper trail for biking, Watauga lake for fishing and all kinds of water recreation, Roan Mountain State park
