Overall we had a great week at the lake. Weather was phenomenal. Fishing from the dock and from the boat was great. Good times were had by all. Maybe a repeat next year..
Perfect for our big race group that included family and team members. The house was clean and well-stocked. There was plenty of space both indoors and out for people to hang out. The dining room was perfect for group dinners. The screened-in porch was the highlight. It was relaxing and comfortable. The guys loved the dock and swimming. The kitchen had everything we needed, and there were plenty of towels. Communication was easy and fast. Thank you for a great home base for our race week.
Had an overall very positive experience with this house. The homeowner was communicative before, during, and after our stay. We were traveling with adults for business, and I do feel this property is better suited to families with small children as most of the beds were small. There was some confusion about # of beds and the layout of the house versus what was listed on VRBO, but the homeowner was gracious about our confusion when we called her and was able to help us resolve it.
Really impressed with the quality of this rental. Absolutely beautiful home, really appreciated the gorgeous porch and the use of the dock accessories. Beautiful property for kids.
This was our 2nd summer to have our family reunion at Liz's place. As I drove into the driveway, my breath was just taken away with the gorgeous panoramic view of the lake from her home's property. Liz has stocked her home with everything you will need for cooking, sleeping, and enjoying the lake. We enjoyed the new king bed she put in our room this year. There's space for the whole family, and everyone in our group felt refreshed just being together (we're spread out by hundreds of miles from each other) in this beautiful home. When we weren't cruising around in the pontoon boat that one of our son-in-laws rented, we were paddleboarding, swimming, and kayaking off the great dock on the property, or playing games together in the big living area upstairs. This place is truly a gem!
This house was the perfect getaway for our party of 12. The house offered plenty of space from beds, bathrooms, places to lounge and dining space. The 2 kitchens allowed plenty of food storage and cooking space for our family. The main level provided the accommodation we needed for wheelchair accessibility. We couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay. There were plenty of linens and towels for everyone. The house was spotless upon arrival. There were condiments available for use in the frig, kcups for the kuerig and laundry detergent if needed. The dock was huge and provided shade late in the day, there were fishing rods, rafts, SUP boards, and kayaks that provided hours of fun, plenty of chairs and a regular size refrigerator. The LilyPad was a favorite with the kids. The fire pit area was large, perfect for late night conversation. We’ve never rented a house with so many available extras. The property is just beautiful, it checked all of our boxes that we needed for our family and so much more. We highly recommend this house to any family looking to vacation at Hyco Lake. The owners were easily accessible if needed and answered many questions about the property. Thank you for a great vacation! We will certainly rent this house again.

About the host

Hello, and welcome to The View at Our Place. We love hosting friends and family on this space. As a result, we often find ourselves being asked if ever rent out this space. After careful thought and consideration into how happy everyone is when they are in this space, we decided to share the joy with others. Whether your 'fishing, swimming, sunbathing, enjoying the sunroom, fire pit, or just a sleeping in your sure to leave refreshed and with an appreciation of the beautiful scenic view.
Why they chose this property
We are a quiet waterfront property with easy access down low-rise stairs to a paved sidewalk leading to the dock. Entrance to the home through the front door is a paved sidewalk and 2 low-rise steps. If needed access through the garage into the house with no steps. Two showers offer handicap railings and sit-down benches. The entire main floor is free of steps and easy to get around. With 2 full kitchens cooking for a hungry group is a breeze. Towels and other items can be laundered easily with laundry rooms on main level and in basement. We offer a golf cart to assist with getting items like coolers, firewood etc. around to the back yard. The layout of this home allows for everyone to be included without feeling cramped. Multiple sitting areas, tv's, indoor and outdoor games offer plenty entertainment for you and your travel companions.
What makes this property unique
We are very close to the Dollar General, which is well stocked with basic pantry needs, some produce, and milk, eggs. Also, we are on the public boat access side of the lake. This is important because boats without collapsible towers cannot clear to get under the bridge. This is not an issue on our end of the lake. Our lake entry offers it all a very small beach area for walk in entry with a calm shallow swimming area, off the docks left side is deeper water ranging from 6-9ft depending on lake levels. while the long side ranges in depth from 5-1.5 feet depending on lake levels. This means younger children can touch while older children/ adults can float and swim in deeper areas. The Lilly Pad also offers plenty of fun for games or sunbathing. We are close to the marina (within 5 minutes) and local food spots like Buoy's Grill, Off the Bone, & ice cream at the marina store ABC liquor store. Milton is close by, 10–15-minute car ride, and offers a few more restaurants like Aunt Millie's pizza, Milton Eatery & Saloon. Need more explore Roxboro 20 minutes away offering Walmart, more restaurants and wineries like Tunnel Creek and Rock of Ages.
