About this property

We call it Ponder!

Waterfront home with a spectacular view on a 1+ acre lot with a large, manicured lawn and a private foot dock to one of Rhode Island’s famous salt ponds. Ponder, as we fondly refer to it, has a wonderful enclosed porch overlooking Winnapaug Pond with expansive ocean views.

Located within minutes of the Misquamicut and Watch Hill BEACHES (dunes pass to the Misquamicut State Beaches included with rental for all peak-season weeks), with easy access to Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun casinos, Mystic Seaport, Mystic Aquarium, and fantastic dining in Westerly, Watch Hill, Stonington, Mystic, and elsewhere. Just 35 minutes to Newport.

There is a public golf course, the Winnapaug Golf Club, located within walking distance, and multiple public tennis courts can be found in the area.
The house has a large living room that opens to the enclosed porch and a combined kitchen/dining room that overlooks the pond.
Four bedrooms:
• Upstairs master bedroom with king and en suite bathroom
• Second upstairs bedroom with single bed
• Downstairs room with two single beds
• Downstairs room with full sized bed
Two full baths, one with a shower and one with a bath/shower, and one half bath.

Easily accessible from the Westerly Amtrak station and T F Green Airport in Providence, and just a few minutes from the Westerly State Airport, which provides daily flights to Block Island.

We had a very comfortable stay at Ponder. Loved the setting on the pond and the view from the very large picture window was fabulous. We felt like we were at a home away from home. The host was very accommodating when we needed to book an extra night and I also appreciated being able to talk with him ahead of time about all the amenities. The kitchen was well stocked and we appreciated having a washing machine and dryer. Location is a short drive to the beaches and to Watch Hill. We would definitely book here again!

Perfect spot

It was the perfect spot for our vacation get away. It is close to beaches and grocery stores. The house provided everything needed and comfortable sleeping quarters. I would 100% recommend to anyone looking to stay in the area.

We had a perfect stay at this wonderful home. Ponder is a home that is truley loved and that love comes through loud and clear. We enjoyed the quiet and the privacy. No jet skis, no loud noices - just nature to "interupt" the quiet. My husband caught a bass right off the dock. The rooms are all a good size and the vew from the dining room table is just lovely. Beautiful private setting on Winnapaug pond

I needed to get away for the weekend and I stayed at this adorable, serene, and very private location in Westerly, on a beautiful pond, with a five-minute drive to the ocean. The home is on large lot surrounded by huge gorgeous maples that provided the perfect seclusuion. I found great comfort in the vintage countertops and cupboards with the old-fashion metal handles as it brought me back to my childhood. Lots of other upgrades added. Beds were clean and super-comfortable. Lots of room to spread out and just relax. Very responsive communication from the owners and their wonderful cleaning crew! I look forward to coming back again.

Bring a boat for Quahogs galore.

Our family had an excellent time at this property. As a heads up the bay the house is on is relatively deep so you'll need to bring a canoe or kayak if you intend to do some shell fishing, wading out is not really an option. Once out on the water we quickly found some of the most fruitful shell fishing I've ever experienced around the nearby islands. The clamming and sunset canoe cruises we took will definitely be some of my fondest memories of the year. The view from the house is great as it looks, on a clear day you can see the wind turbines on block island 20 miles away. The main TV having a gamecube with 4 functioning wavebird controllers was also a treat, nothing like relaxing with a game of Mario party with the kids after a long beach day. All in all we had a great week and we hope we can do it again next year.

We have returned to Ponder for a reason. The house could not be better situated, the view over the pond is spectacular, and it has, literally, all the comforts of home (with none of the headaches). Quiet Retreat

This property was just what we needed to retreat from the hustle and bustle of the wedding activities we were involved in. The quiet pond, watching all the various birds, whether on the lawn or indoors, was such a respite. The house had all the modern amenities while also keeping the charm of this 1925 circa home. A charming Gem

We so enjoyed our stay at this family cottage on the water. We were 3 couples in the area for the Rhythm and Roots Festival. It was a convenient 13 minutes away. I feel like we were staying in my grandmother's summer home! bathrooms were updated and beds were very comfortable. The kitchen had everything you could imagine. If we go again next year we hope to rent this cottage again. Thank you Fred!

Ponder is a jointly owned family home .We all treasure the time that we can spend at Ponder. We have all had wonderful times here, celebrating weddings and birthdays, and just enjoying time with family and friends. Many of us have fond memories of getting our first gold ring on the Watch Hill carousel, or attending concerts and fireworks in the Westerly park. And we all have spent many hours relaxing on the many beautiful sandy beaches available in the area.

Why they chose this property

Some of us were raised in Westerly and have known the area and all it has to offer for our entire lifetimes. Others have come to know it more recently. We all agree that it offers the perfect blend of natural beauty and quiet, as well as lots of activities and things to do for people of all ages.

What makes this property unique

In addition to an amazing location, this house is very comfortable and offers all of the conveniences of home. You can spend your time relaxing and reading on the sun porch, enjoying a cup of coffee on the back steps overlooking the water, or taking advantage of all of the activities that its waterfront location allows. The large grounds provide plenty of space for children to run around and play. The well-equipped kitchen allows you to easily cook and eat in, if you wish. The pass to the Dunes Beach, which comes with the weekly rental, makes it easy for you to park right at the beach.
