Smiling Jack’s Escape is a lovely two-bedroom, two-bathroom condo in the perfect location for enjoying the beach, birding, fishing, dining and exploring Port A.

Smiling Jack’s Escape has a beautiful open kitchen equipped with stainless steel appliances, quartz countertops and everything you need to cook a delicious dinner. The dining table offers seating for six. The kitchen island offers additional seating for two. Relax in the spacious living room while watching your favorite shows on the 55-inch Smart flat-screen TV.

The primary bedroom has a king-size bed with a flat-screen TV and an en-suite bathroom. The guest bedroom sleeps three with a queen-size bed and twin-size bed and has a flat-screen TV. The second full bathroom is located across the hall. Smiling Jack’s Escape has a large balcony that overlooks the sparkling pool and has incredible views of Corpus Christi Bay.

This condo is part of a family and pet-friendly complex within a short walk to the beach via the private boardwalk. The prestigious Mustang Island Beach Club complex has a shared heated pool, hot tub and fish cleaning station. One parking space is available with limited additional guest parking. Boats and trailers are allowed. The condo is on the second floor and is not ADA accessible.

Wonderfully clean and spacious for the entire family

We chose this wonderful location as it allowed us to bring our 2 furry babies to the beach for the very first time! Our entire family enjoyed our stay in this clean and comfortable location. We will certainly look to stay here again as our pups had the time of their life.

Review of condo

Everything was great except the sheets were too small for the bed in the.master bedroom. The fitted sheet kept coming off and we had to sleep on mattress pad half the time.

Overall, a great property for a quick, price conscious vacation. -Great coffee maker -Plenty of room -beautiful deck -pool was clean and well maintained -beds comfortable -kitchen very livable Fixes/improves: -Deeper cleaning needed before new guests. Lots of dust and dirt on floors (had not been mopped in awhile) -Outdoor area very dirty (table, floors etc) A good cleaner and a little paint/TLC would make this property 5 stars. Looked like a lot of the upkeep needed may have been on the larger property owners rather than this room. Would return though!

The individual unit we stayed in was just fine. However, the grounds around the pool were atrocious. They need a full lawn care attack. There were weeds growing along every wall and fence line. There were sticker burrs growing adjacent to the lower stair walkways. The planter beds had not been cleaned out and replanted in years. Some pool furniture was damaged and unsafe. The grounds man did pick up trash each morning, but that is all. There cigarette butts everywhere. We toured a unit that was for sale and it was very clean and nice. We were just turned off by the poor shape of the pool area and the rock fountain that we will not purchase a property there.

I was told pest control would show up, they were a no show. Yesterday I was told maintenance would show up, they were also a no show. There was many dirty dishes in the cabinetry. Everyone left left sick, I’m pregnant and I’ve scheduled an appointment with my OB because I had a bad fever from the dirty vents and/or mold. We have booked many times and even over a month in the same condominium with Padre Escapes Rentals and we loved the experience, we didn’t think booking with another party in the same condominium would be any different. Sadly that was not the case. Please make the appropriate steps to create a safer environment.

Beds are comfortable but the sheets kept falling off because they aren't deep pocket sheets. Also the coffee machine leaked the first time we made coffee and so we couldn't make coffee anymore. Other than that, wonderful place to stay. Great location, great pool especially for our kids. Short walk or drive to the beach! We will definitely stay there again!

The bed sheets and towels were the only thing clean. There were fleas and ticks all over the place and mesquites everywhere. You wiped the floor with a wipe and it came back black.

We had a wonderful time at Smiling Jacks Escape. Would highly recommend. Very nice and comfortable. We will definitely try and stay again next year. The beds were comfortable and the unit Was clean. Only problem we had was the coffee pot was cracked and would not work Properly.

Do not stay at Mustang Island Beach Club

Online this condo looked nice. We arrived just after check in time to find the door open and what looked like house cleaning had not been inside. Called silversand management company and they sent someone out an hour later. She let us know that the cleaner had been fired while in the condo and had dumped salt and pepper all over the condo 😳 she cleaned up. Tuesday night the neighbor above our condo did construction (nail guns, saws, sanders) from 6pm until we left at 6am the next morning. We slept zero hours. Called silversands management again and they said they can’t do anything but we should of called the police 😕. The final straw was being woken up Thursday morning to pest control requesting to spray the unit. Overall we would never stay at MIBC again. Management is VERY POOR!

Needs improvement - better cleaning

The place is nice and close to beach access but most of the furniture is outdated. It really needs to be updated. We also found that it is not properly cleaned. Some of the kitchen cabinets are a mess nothing in order. The blankets were dirty. They were just thrown on the closet shelf not folded and dirty.

Father's Day trip

Nice property. We chose it because we brought a dog. Family of 5 with 8, 12, and 14 year olds slept comfortably. It was clean and everything worked....that's all I need! The hot tub and pool were nice. Never walked to the beach b/c we had family staying nearby and just used the access at their condo. I'd stay again.

I hope this is passed on to upper management. I want to make sure you are aware of what happened. We stayed in Smiling Jacks this past weekend. We got to our condo around 5:00 on Friday. The condo looked very nice, exactly like the pictures showed. My daughter went to the spare room to lay down. When she pulled back the bedding she immediately called my wife in because the sheets were dirty. There was dirt and hair all in the bed and on the pillows. They then pulled back the twin bed. It was okay. My wife went to the master bedroom, pulled back the sheets, and it was disgusting. Dirt, dog hair, human hair and some sort of brown smudge at the foot of the sheets. I walked into the bathroom and the shower was gross. Dirt was all in the bottom and you could tell the glass doors were not clean either. I called maintenance, and within an hour, someone came out and changed the sheets and cleaned the showers. My wife also had to sweep the floors because they were very dirty. She swept from corner to corner and had a huge pile of dog hair and sand.(we had not been to the beach yet). We knew if they had not swept, then the floors had not been mopped either. Floors should be mopped between guest stays, especially since dogs have been staying there. It was obvious that the cleaning company came in, made the beds without changing the sheets, restocked the toiletries and towels, and then left without cleaning anything else. I hope you address this because I'm betting we weren't the only ones. Unfortunately, although the condo was nice, the walk to the beach was not bad, and the beds were comfy, we will not recommend anyone stay here due to the uncleanliness. Thank you, Charles Gates

Best Kept Secret in Port Aransas

This was a last minute thing for my husband and I when we found ourselves in the area with a few days to spare. Johnny was very helpful and professional. Even with the short notice, he made our check in process easy. The unit is beautiful, bright, and cozy. It has an expansive deck overlooking the pool area and boardwalk to the beach. I'm a self admitted "mattress snob" and these beds exceeded my expectations. Slept like a rock. The only suggestion I would make is to instruct the cleaning crew to pay better attention to detail when it comes to nooks and crannies that may be hard to reach with a broom or mop, but are still visible to guests. Highly recommend this unit.

Enjoyed our tune in the island. The pictures of the condo were accurate. Nice and clean. The pictures of the pool area are not as it seems very small pool and dirty. Chairs, trash, and foos left in the pool from other guests. The hike to the beach is always so get food shoes or better yet just drive down to the beach so not to walk back when you are wet and sandy
