About this property

The Squirrel's Leap: quiet stay near Dehaven Park

Kick back and relax in this calm, stylish space in a quiet community near Dehaven Park and Claytor Lake. The Squirrel's Leap is a remote escape from the bustle of the rest of the world.

The Squirrel's Leap is a half-mile from Dehaven Park on Claytor Lake which features a boat ramp, playground, fishing pier, swimming area, and picnic areas with camping sites.

30 minutes from Radford and 45 minutes from Blacksburg, 10 miles of scenic, winding roads from I81.
The space
The Squirrel's Leap is located in a quiet community near Dehaven Park on Claytor Lake. It does not have direct lake access or view of the water. Instead, The Squirrel's Leap offers views of a well-maintained cow pasture and a private backyard full of trees.

This two-bedroom, one-bathroom bungalow, with an open living room and kitchen, makes use of every inch of its floor plan. It is a complete living space in a 1970's bungalow on 1/3 acre in Southwest Virginia near Claytor Lake.

Radford University and Virginia Tech parents will find this an amazing space to visit your young adult student while giving them the space or the option to get away from university life. Radford University is about 30 minutes away while Virginia Tech is about 45. The house is about 10 miles away from Interstate 81 and any stores. Once off I81, the drive is beautiful and winding, and we recommend stocking up on food and supplies before arriving, as the trade-off for a quiet, beautiful location is a lack of conveniently located places to buy necessities. If you are looking for a country get-away, or don't mind taking a scenic route to visit Radford or Blacksburg, then this is the place for you!

The cozy front porch offers a gorgeous space to enjoy!

The first bedroom contains a queen bed with a memory foam mattress, a closet with plenty of storage, and allows room for a small travel crib or just a relaxing space for two.

The second bedroom contains a queen bed with a memory foam mattress, a closet with plenty of storage.

The bathroom comes equipped with an overhead heater, plenty of clean towels, soaps, body wash, shampoo, and conditioner for our guests.

The kitchen contains a glass top stove, oven, dishwasher, full-size refrigerator and freezer, microwave, coffee maker, and a full complement of cooking and dining ware. It is the ideal setup to prepare meals for the largest of families.

The living room has plenty of room to gather around and talk or watch TV. We have provided a blu-ray player with loads of movies to watch. Streaming is available depending on the connection... internet access in the area is challenging.

Please feel free to put any of the games available in the cabinet to good use.

Please feel free to use one of the fuzzy chairs in front of the desk for the perfect work space. The wifi signal may not be strong enough for video conferencing but should work well for audio.
Guest access
The driveway runs down the side of the space. We allow for two cars or one car and a trailer. We have room in the front yard to park but there will be another $20 a day charge to help with yard maintenance and health.
Other things to note
Small Dogs are allowed on a case-by-case basis. There is $100 pet fee and an extra guest fee per night per pet. Cats are prohibited.
Their are two small cameras. Only one facing the driveway is active and recording.

Had a great vacation and reunion with my family. We will recommend this lovely place to our friends and family. The owners Parrish and Katie were awesome hosts.
