About this property
New! Beautiful & Spacious Modern Home on 8+ Acres - Peaks & Prairies Retreat
Peaks & Prairies Retreat — Modern High Alpine Escape with Endless Views Get away from it all at the Peaks & Prairies Retreat: a spacious, modern 5 bedroom / 3.5 bathroom home set on 8+ acres of high alpine landscape at approximately 9,738 ft. A seasonal creek winds through the property, aspen and pine line the skyline, and the rolling prairie views stretch uninterrupted in every direction. Built for families, multi-generational gatherings, and groups ready to unplug together.
✨ Recently upgraded (April 2026) We've completed a full overhaul of the home's water system. Because the property sits at nearly 10,000 ft on a remote alpine parcel — the same reason the views are so endless and unobstructed — water here requires a more sophisticated setup than a typical home. Guests now enjoy clean, odor-free water throughout the house, alongside the rest of the modern finishes and appliances the home is known for.
Arriving & settling in Pull into the heated double-door garage (a rare find in this area) — plenty of room for hunting gear, skis, hiking packs, or whatever the adventure calls for. The mudroom just inside has shelves, hooks, and nooks for everything you'll want close at hand.
Ground floor The Entertainment Room is the casual hangout: comfortable couch and rocking chairs around a smart TV (bring your own streaming logins), a wet bar with mini fridge, foosball, and a stash of toys and games for all ages. The Central Ground Floor Bathroom offers a toilet, vanity, and glass-enclosed shower. Winter Pond Bedroom — Hybrid Queen bed, luxurious cotton linens, east-facing prairie views, rustic armoire, and a large desk that doubles as a work or gaming setup. Wildlife Meadows Bedroom — Two hybrid Twin trundle beds with cotton linens, a leather accent chair, spacious closet, and east- and south-facing windows. Great for kids or extra guests.
Upper floor The staircase opens into the Great Room, where a wall of floor-to-ceiling south-facing windows frames the rolling hills and prairie grass. A corner soapstone wood stove anchors the seating area — the heart of the home on a cool evening. The high-top dining table seats six, with extra seating at the breakfast nook beneath its moose-paddle chandelier. The kitchen is well-appointed with ample counter space and new stainless steel appliances. Mornings here are best spent with fresh coffee at the window, watching the resident elk, fox, and mule deer move along the tree-lined northern edge of the property. A spacious laundry room with full-size washer and dryer (plus an attached half bath) means no detours to the laundromat on vacation time — a real win on longer family stays. Master Suite — King bed with cotton linens, desk workspace, changing table, west-facing windows with elevated views, walkout access to the upper deck, and a generous en suite with double vanity, private toilet, corner shower, and a freestanding bathtub. Misty Mountain Bedroom — Queen bed with cotton linens, two large windows with elevated prairie views. Winter Roads Bedroom — Queen bed with cotton linens, spacious closet, large window, and walkout access to the covered portion of the upper deck. Central Upper Bathroom — Double vanity and a bathtub/shower combo — quick rinse in the morning, long soak after a full day outside.
The outdoors Elevated front and back decks wrap the home with comfortable seating, a propane BBQ grill, and uninterrupted prairie views. The 8+ acre property is a wildlife corridor — elk, mule deer, fox, and more pass through regularly. Plenty of side parking for trailers, dirt bikes, or ATVs if you're heading out to the trails in 4 Mile.
Park County as your base camp If you can think of an outdoor activity, it's likely within 10–20 minutes of the property: skiing, snowboarding, hiking, mountain climbing, snowshoeing, horseback riding (yes — even in winter), ice climbing, fishing, hunting, rafting, snowmobiling, 4-wheeling, mine exploration, canoeing, and kayaking. A true Colorado Rocky Mountain base camp for families and groups of every kind.
Good to know before you book Elevation: The home sits at approximately 9,738 ft. Guests sensitive to altitude should plan accordingly. Winter access: 4-wheel drive vehicles with adequate snow tires or chains are required from November through May. The driveway is plowed and county roads are maintained, but weather here can shift quickly. Wildlife: This is a true high alpine setting. Wildlife, insects, and the occasional rodent are part of the landscape. Rental agreement: Guests are asked to sign a short vacation rental agreement after booking.

The cabin is beautiful, spacious, remote and modern. We had a good stay here but a couple things should be considered by the host for the future like cleaner floors. My grandkids feet were pitch black from running around the cabin and also there should be a TV in every bedroom especially the upstairs living area. Also the water was very sulphuric and smelled.
The house is beautiful and easy to get to. We took our family for Christmas. It was great.

Thank you so much! We're delighted the property was the right backdrop for your family Christmas — those are the stays that mean the most to us. We've continued investing in the home since your visit, and would love to welcome you and your family back anytime.
Very nice home, great views, isolated yet not to far from the activities we wanted to do. Communication with the hose was great! Only one minor suggestion might be to add a few more chairs to the back deck to enjoy the view with family.

Thank you for the kind words! We love that the property hit the right balance of isolated-yet-accessible for your family. The deck seating suggestion is well taken — we've continued investing in the home since your visit and made a number of updates along the way. We'd love to welcome you back anytime to see how it's evolved.
This is a beautiful home that is very spacious and private. There is plenty of room for parking which was great as I was pulling a 36 foot trailer. The family and I would definitely stay here again if we are back in the area.
A couple of things that could be improved is if there was a tv in the upstairs living area and possibly an upgrade to the furniture in both family room areas.
The Peaks & Prairies property was great for our family get away. It comfortably slept 12, with 3.5 baths, and plenty of open kitchen, living room, and den space to accommodate all of us. This peaceful place located outside of town was situated between river rafting, zip lining, hot springs, and fishing on the Arkansas River and Antero and Eleven Mile Reservoirs. We found it to be the perfect peaceful place to rest and relax after a full day of adventures. Communication with property mgmt was easy and we found them to be responsive to our one and only inquiry. Would reserve again and would highly recommend.

Thank you for such a thoughtful review! It's wonderful to hear the property worked so well for your group — comfortably hosting 12 and serving as a peaceful base camp between rafting, zip lining, hot springs, and fishing is exactly what we designed it for. We've continued investing in the home since your visit and would love to welcome your family back anytime for another round of Colorado adventures.
The house was a great location for our needs. The house was clean and roomy. There are a few cons: no sheets for the twin size trundle beds, no extra sheets in the whole house actually so had to pull a flat sheet off of a full bed to make due; the house needs a few more items in the kitchen, i.e. more hand towels, dish rags, pots/pans, etc. They did have enough for us but thankful we packed an instapot and large stock pot. Pros: clean, roomy, beautiful views, communication with the owners was fantastic! We had an issue with the dishwasher and they got back to us right away! We will definitely stay in this location again in the future!!!

Great with some qualification
Very clean and nicely appointed place with a great view. Enjoyed our stay in many ways. Only two downsides: first, the sulphuric smell of the well water is quite pungent whenever a tap or the shower is turned on and made us think twice even about showering (though we were grateful for the plentitude of bottled water provided for drinking). Second, the towels are almost as rough as sandpaper. Not sure if that is because guests are asked to throw the towels in the wash before checking out, leaving no time for fabric softener before the cleaning staff arrive. At any rate, the towels are almost as unpleasant as the smell of the water. One final note--not a negative; just a curiosity--the guestbook mentions the woodstove and says there are instructions on the following page for lighting a fire, but there are no such instructions.
Great, spacious and well-stocked! Close to many fun adventures. It was great to have cable TV since it was hard to use WiFi to login to streaming services.
Issues:
Water is extremely sulphuric. Bring your own bottled water and gallon water for coffee, teeth brushing and drinking. One bathtub does not properly drain, but otherwise it was wonderful to have 4 bathrooms. The trundle beds also did not have any bedding.

Very nice
The cabin was very clean and spacious! We got the larger cabin with the expectation of 8 adults. Three of them were not able to make it, so we had more than enough room! The kitchen had what we needed! The ONLY negative item is the sulfur in the water. It was hard to get used to. We did purchase gallon jugs of drinking water. There is a Berkey water filter, which we used for cooking purposes. The beds were nice! We were fortunate to have perfect weather, too. The temperature was very comfortable with a window slightly opened!
We thoroughly enjoyed the property. It was a good location that had scenic drives every direction you went. Everything in n the house was new or fairly new and clean. The beds were comfortable The only issue that was of any relevance was the smell of the water. It had a strong Sulfur smell and taste to it when we got there. It did dissipate with time and was almost completely gone by the time we left. A heads up about purging the lines would have been nice, but it was not a deal breaker as we had brought some bottled with us. Other that the water, we enjoyed our stay very much! Beautiful place and area!!!

Thank you for the thoughtful review and for taking the time to share both what worked and what could be better. We're glad the scenic drives, comfortable beds, and overall setting made the trip a memorable one. Your note on the water is well taken — and since your stay, we've completed a full overhaul of the home's water system (April 2026), which now delivers clean, odor-free water throughout the house. We'd love to welcome you back anytime to enjoy the property at its best.
This house is beautiful and very nice quality. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Communication is superb with the property managers! Porches upstairs are awesome for morning coffee, saw deer every day. Master suite is spacious and lots of windows and huge bathroom. Kitchen is designed well and all of our group fit in it fine while cooking (nice gas stove also). Laundry room setup was also great and we used the washer/dryer each day. We brought extra stuff and did NOT need to (as in linens, towels, etc.). The house if fully stocked with everything you’ll need. It’s centrally located so easy to run for the day to Aspen, Breckinridge, Vale, Colorado Springs, and more. Enjoy your vacation! We will be back! Only con is the sulfur water smell with sediment in the water. We brought bottled waters for drinking and gallons of water for coffee, etc.

Nice place to stay but the water issue made it difficult to stay here
Nice place. Very nice kitchen and master bedroom upstairs. There is alot of debris in the yard and around the perimeter of the house that takes a little bit away from the exceptional view you have from the patio. The area is beautiful.
Other reviews have mentioned the sulfur smell in the water. This should not be underestimated… I have been in other houses that use well water and the smell is nowhere near this bad. In fact, my sister stayed at the house right up the hill — the well water there had a slight sulfur smell, but it wasn't bad at all. The water at our place smells like something is very wrong with it. There were 8 of us and everyone was blown away by how bad it smells. Made for very unpleasant showers. The bad odor was powerful whether you were running water in the sink, taking a shower, or just flushing the toilet. It was bad enough that it made me take what would have been a 4 star review down to a 2. Maybe the smell is worse in the summer (we were there in July) but it made our stay very unpleasant.
