We're Mandy and Steve, the hosts behind PoconoJo's: The Chalet in Jim Thorpe — a name we chose in honor of Steve's mother, Joanne, whose gift for hospitality is the whole reason this place exists. We built this chalet in the Bear Creek Lakes community of Jim Thorpe, PA to be the kind of place where traditions get made: the friend group, the cousin crew, ski weekends, or just a long weekend with nowhere to be. We treat every stay like we're hosting our favorite friends — quick to answer, easy to reach, and genuinely invested in making your time in the Poconos feel effortless. We're local enough to point you toward the great trails, restaurants, and hidden spots in Jim Thorpe, and hands-on enough that if anything comes up, we're one message away.

Why they chose this property

We chose Bear Creek Lakes because it gives guests the best of both worlds: a quiet, mountain community with its own private lake, trails, and seasonal amenities, just minutes from historic downtown Jim Thorpe — often called the "Switzerland of Pennsylvania." It's close enough to Blue Mountain and Jack Frost/Big Boulder for ski trips, the Lehigh Gorge for whitewater rafting and biking, and Jim Thorpe's shops and restaurants for an easy night out, while still being tucked away enough that you get real peace and privacy. It's the rare Poconos location where you don't have to choose between adventure and quiet.

What makes this property unique

Named in memory of Joanne, whose love of hosting (and having martinis) inspired the whole property, PoconoJo's blends comfort with real character — thoughtfully designed bedrooms (including a bathroom for every bedroom and an additional powder room off the kitchen), a game room built for rainy days, and a deck made for morning coffee or evening stars. It's less "rental" and more "home base for the memories you're here to make."
