Charming and comfortable house for an extended family

This was a wonderful place for a week-long family get-together. The house is spacious, with plenty of bathrooms and sitting space. The kitchen appliances, air conditioning, and wifi all worked great. There is a spacious covered porch overlooking the shore and dunes. You're surrounded by quiet woods and greenery, but it's not that far a drive to the local Publix and Starbucks. There are many good restaurants nearby. We loved it!!

We had a wonderful time staying here. There were only 4 of us so we had plenty of room. The location is perfect! We have been coming to HHI for many years and we liked this location the best. We visited in Oct this year and had the beach almost to ourselves. It was beautiful weather which helped. The kitchen in this house is very well stocked and Ted is great at getting back to any questions we had ASAP. We will be back!

Fantastic vacation!

The house, pool area and yard exceeded our expectations- even better than the photos! We had teens through grandparents and all loved our stay. Fully equipped kitchen with literally everything you need. Quiet part of the beach but only a short bike ride to the Salty Dog for a meal out, music and great ice cream. We love HHI and this was one of our best rentals yet. Ted was hands-down the best homeowner we have rented from - really helpful, great tips on things to do, and very responsive. Can’t wait to stay here again!

Great family getaway!

Our family likes to have a group vacation every two years and this was a great way to enjoy our trip. The house was in a perfect location with gorgeous views... the pictures on the website can’t do it justice! Each couple had their own space, with a large gathering space for us all. We don’t usually repeat our vacation sites, but we may have to make an exception in this case. The home owner was extremely helpful and answered all our questions... it was much appreciated!

Great family beach house

Our family has been vacationing on Hilton Head for 8 years now. We converge on HHI from MA, NY, KY, & GA for a great week at the beach. This was our first year at the Leavitt's after 6 years in the same home in North Forest Beach, and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The house was roomy and accommodating, and we definitely felt very at home. The pool & yard area is truly fantastic, which is important to us because we spend a lot of time around the pool. And having the beach just steps away down the boardwalk was perfect! The one thing that wasn't perfect for us is that we're a sports family who gather around sporting events on TV; so we would have loved to have a TV in the upstairs living room, since that's where we mostly gathered. And some of the kids would have liked TV's in their rooms so they could get away from us adults sometimes :-) Other than that, it was a great vacation in a great home! If we choose to stay in Sea Pines again (that is still up for debate) we would definitely stay in this home again! Ted was very helpful with booking and pre-arrival communication and was really a pleasure to work with.

A Private Gem

This was about our 30th time traveling to Sea Pines for a family vacation and the house was the perfect gathering spot for the 4 generations who made it. The waterfront location with a private boardwalk made it very easy to access the beach but the house is set back from the water so is also very private. The kitchen has been recently remodeled and is completely stocked with all the necessary supplies for cooking. (We cooked in almost every night even though Ted provided a very comprehensive list of high-end to quick eating options in the area. Great list!) There are two dining areas that could seat up to 12 comfortably; one became the game/puzzle place. Some of the bathrooms have been recently remodeled too; a few are a little older. The twin beds were a little small for the over 20 crowd but would be perfect for those under 15. Check-in and check-out were convenient and so quick. Ted was VERY responsive throughout the entire process. We hope to come back again next year.

Everything we wanted and needed

We have stayed at many properties over the years with our family and this house and location was my favorite. The house was beautiful and spacious. The back yard with the pool and ocean view made our trip so nice. We loved the location and biked to breakfast, dinner, the park or for ice cream each day. The host was very good and always responded quickly. I would definitely like to stay here again.

The perfect sea pines home!

Our family had the perfect family vacation staying in this home! The home is right on the beach with a lovely large pool. Our grandchildren ages 4 - 14 were entertained the entire time. Ted, the homeowner was very pleasant and helpful to work with!

wonderful home with excellent beach location. Pool was very nice and heated to a temperature my friends really liked. We had a few issues with the heat and TV's but they were addressed promptly by the owner and the maintenance person was very nice and professional. could use some upkeep related to the window/door screens , but we all had a terrific time and would choose to stay at this location again.

Great Visit

We have been to Sea Pines at Hilton Head several times and thoroughly enjoyed this house. The oceanfront house is close to the beach, the pool in October had a fabulous heater, and the deck is 100% covered. The inside is roomy and had plenty of bedrooms and bathrooms to cover the needs of 9 adults with two small children under 2 years of age. We would definitely stay at this location again.

We spend a lot of time on the move. The picture comes from our many years in London, England. Our grown children also got a bit of the travel bug and are now spread around the globe -- Scranton PA, San Juan PR/Chengdu China, and London UK.

Hilton Head is in our blood. Ted's grandmother came from Bluffton before leaving in 1911 and the relatives owned places like Rose Hill, Victoria Bluff, and Kirk's Bluff (along the May River) back when land was cheap, cheap (1800s - 1960s)

Why they chose this property

Our house has been in the Leavitt family since Ted's father bought the property from Charles Fraser on a hunting trip in the early 1960s. We bought the house in 1998 and then did a complete renovation in order to bring the house up to date. The old beach houses were very open (you had to go outside to the downstairs bedroom!) and we converted it to a 5-bedroom, 5-bath format, while maintaining the character from the early days of Sea Pines. In 2014/2015, we did a major extension to add some of the features we've really wanted to over the years. This has given us a nice master suite, some proper garages, elevator, office/study and a dining room for entertaining the entire group that is there.

What makes this property unique

Having come to Hilton Head since 1962, our house reflects the dichotomy of a modern version of an original Sea Pines beach cottage with the simplicity of beach life. We personally feel the privacy of our setting is a unique benefit, but each person will have their own viewpoint.
