Cozy riverfront condo 4 miles from ski lifts

Casita Rio is a 2 bedroom, 1 bath condo located in a 14 unit building tucked into the side of the mountain directly off State Hwy 150. Conveniently situated between Ski Valley and Taos, the location offers the best of both worlds for guests wanting to enjoy the outdoors and explore the town of Taos. The Rio Hondo River runs right along side the condo and is a great spot to fish for trout. It is also located very near several hiking/bike trails, and is only 4 miles from the ski lifts at Taos Ski Valley. You will love the picturesque mountain and river views!!

This cozy 2 bedroom condo has all the comforts of home and sleeps up to 6 people. Each bedroom has a Queen bed with high quality sheets and linens. There is also a Twin rollaway bed (perfect for kids!), and a very comfortable living room couch. The space is perfect for 1 or 2 couples, or small families.

Note: The unit above us has a similar layout and is connected via the downstairs foyer. It is also rentable through AirBNB, if you have a large group and need additional space! It is also available under the title "Charming Mountain Condo in Taos Ski Valley". Another condo unit not connected is rented through Natural Retreats under title "Riverside Retreat 12 at Taos East".

The condo is located just 4 miles from the lifts at Taos Ski Valley. It offers easy access for skiing and snowboarding, but is secluded enough to be away from the crowds and chaos at the top of the mountain. The quaint village of Arroyo Seco is just a few minutes down the mountain, conveniently located to pick up supplies or grab a quick bite to eat.

The kitchen is fully stocked with a Keurig Duo coffee maker, plus everything you need to cook meals at home. If you feel like going out instead of cooking, there are several excellent restaurants located nearby. Local favorites include Medley, Aceq and Sambroso. All are within 10 minutes by car and have delicious food and an upscale atmosphere.

The wood burning fireplace and a selection of puzzles and board games make for relaxing evenings in after a long day of skiing, hiking or sightseeing. For more things to do, head down to the town of Taos, located about 20 minutes away. There you will find lots to explore, including many art galleries, funky shops, live music, bars and lots of dining options. Take in the distinct culture of Taos by wandering through the streets of the historic district, or go back in time by touring Taos Pueblo.

Taos is magical no matter where you stay, but we think you will love it here!!

The condo is exactly as described and was a great fit for our family of 5 (kids age 9, 6 and 5). The extra bed was great. This property is very close to Taos ski resort.

Cute condo great location

Stayed for a ski trip at Taos Ski Valley. Great for our family of four. Loved having a fireplace and enjoyed the holiday decor. Appreciated that they stocked paper plates when we didn’t feel like doing many dishes. Kitchen is tight but we were still able to prepare the meals we brought. It is well stocked.

Good location, with a 5-ish minute drive to Taos ski resort. Didn’t really care for using dishes that were supposed to have been hand-washed, but not all places can accommodate an automatic dishwasher. Overall, still a nice property.

This was a perfect location for our family while we visited Taos. Our two boys (9 and 7) absolutely loved having the river right outside the front door. The house was clean and had everything we needed. Kara was helpful and quick to respond. We were about 10 minutes from Arroyo Seco (which had some great shops and galleries and a nice little cafe for breakfast) and 25 minutes from downtown Taos. We would definitely recommend this location. My one tip would be to make sure you have all of your check-in info saved on your phone before you get to the house, as there is no cell service up there!

Perfect property for the 4 of us. The unit was clean and functional and we enjoyed the close proximity to the ski area. Beds were comfortable and there were plenty of towels and extra blankets. We purchased La Casa Verde on Cedar Creek Lake in 2021 as a place to get out of the city (we live in the Dallas area) and relax without having to go too far.
