About this property

Cozy Farmhouse in Mountains w/ hot tub & firepit

Take it easy at this charming and cozy 1916 farmhouse. Private 40-acre farm with stunning 360 views of North Cascade mountain peaks, just 2 hours north of Seattle.

Steelhead fishing, bird watching, kayaking, and hiking world-class trails in the North Cascades, with trailheads at Rockport State park mere minutes from the farm.

This historic farmhouse has been restored to its full vintage charm, with a fireplace, original hardware, gorgeous built-ins, and the modern amenities of heat, air-conditioning, a dishwasher, and a hot tub.

This charming farmhouse is perfect for two to six adults with two bedrooms, each with a queen bed, and a queen sofa bed in the living room. There's a trundle twin XL bed in the second bedroom with plenty of room in the summer months for tents in the backyard (or the cooler months for the hardcore adventurer and outdoorsmen).

The covered back deck or gazebo is the perfect spot to drink coffee and watch the herd of Scottish Highlander cattle in the field. Enjoy the firepit in the evening, there's nothing but a wide open sky above it for full viewing of gorgeous sunsets and star gazing.

After a day of enjoying the mountain scenery and forests, relax in the hot tub. Then enjoy the electric fireplace with plenty of extra throw blankets and pillows for the ultimate cozy evening.

There is a fully equipped kitchen, a dining room that sits 6, and on the covered gazebo a propane BBQ and pellet smoker. Perfect to prepare the catch of the day.

During the season, you can request farm-fresh chicken or duck eggs (don't worry, we don't keep a rooster on the farm so no early crowing to disrupt your peaceful slumber).

In summer there is an herb and vegetable garden you can stroll through and a basket is provided for a small daily harvest.

If you'd like to join us at the farmstead headquarters (a 1/2 mile up the road from the farm stay) at milking time, you can see and help milk Clover, our Jersey/Holstein milk cow (arranged ahead of time).

The farm is located on a charming country road with fields, tree-lined sections, a slough, and river access, all within an easy stroll. Don't be surprised if you see the beaver in the slough, bald eagles soaring above, and both deer and elk in the fields.

During your stay, you'll have the yard and farmhouse to yourself (there is an option to reserve an RV spot in the driveway with water and power for extra guests, this is not rented out separately, so you'll be the only guest on the farm). This is a working farm with cattle in the field, so you'll see us feeding during the winter (and our welcome to help if you'd like) and occasionally working on fences or the barns in the other fields.

Because we have cattle and chickens on the property, we have a firm no-pet policy.

There is room in the driveway for snowmobile and boat trailers. We're only 30 minutes from Newhalem, Ross Lake, Shannon Lake, and 40 minutes from Baker Lake.

You'll have the full yard and house to yourself. The other 39 acres house our adorable Scottish Highlander cattle. You'll see us there feeding them in the winter months (and welcome to help if you'd like to experience it) and occasionally fixing fences and working in the barns.

Country neighborhood, quite road, perfect for strolls and meandering walks

Spacious driveway, plenty of room for snowmobile or boat trailers

Anniversary getaway
We were looking for rest and relaxation with out disruptions for our 15th anniversary. And yes that is exactly what we got. A truly wonderful experience, it was so quiet and peaceful. The panoramic view of the mountains in the am are breathtaking. Sipping wine in the hot tub evening was bliss. We soon developed a morning habit of walking out to visit the cows with our morning coffee. 😁 Great location. Wonderful stay we would highly recommend it.. hope to stay again!🙏

Beautiful restored farmhouse!
We loved our stay here! Everything was immaculate and it brought a sense of nostalgia seeing all of the decor of old farmhouse tools and kitchen items. Being in close proximity to the cattle was such a treat! Super family friendly with loads of games and books to use. We stayed here in order to enjoy some time in Cascades and we plan on returning! Even the kids are asking to go back!

Charming farmhouse
We loved the property, very charming home away from home. The hot tub was amazing after hiking all day, it was a great location for exploring the south side of Mt Baker and west side of North Cascades. It was relaxing to stay in to cook breakfast, walk around the flower and veg gardens and offer carrots to the highland cattle. The bed was very comfortable. We would stay here again!

I'm a 5th generation homesteader and my family has been on this road for 3 generations. We believe in caring for the land and raising our animals with regenerative agriculture practices. Our cattle and grass-fed and grass-finished, enjoying the fields and mountains views as much as we do. We believe in community and provide eggs from pasture-raised chickens and ducks. We believe that even if it takes longer, it's worth it to do things the right way.

Why they chose this property

Discover the peacefulness of farm life and vintage charm of when life was slower and simple. Ditch the rat race and spend leisure moments soaking up the great outdoors, Scottish highlanders meandering on pasture, birds soaring high above, and majestic mountain views everywhere you turn.

Enjoy farm-fresh eggs and produce (seasonally), curl up by the fireplace inside and enjoy the outdoor fire pit.

What makes this property unique

Quite and private farmhouse on 40 acres on a small country road. Gorgeous scenery and wildlife abound. Feed hay to the Scottish Highlanders across the fence if you wish. During summer enjoy wildflowers, a lush herb garden, and a flower and vegetable garden.
