It rained the entire time we were there and that was perfectly fine with us. Such a charming wellness retreat. Hot tub at night and cold plunge in the morning!Marcel was very attentive and the check in/check out was perfect!
The home is in a “kind of remote “ section of the island, away from all the tourists! Very very private. Lots of different fresh fruit to pick off the trees on the property. The owner & property manager are tremendous to work with. Just down the street from an old restored “artsy” town with lots of “local” artists & small restaurants. The older house does not have air conditioning, but no one does, not needed., Everything you need is provided in the kitchen. Very clean. Hot tub under the stars.
We absolutely loved the house and the location. We felt like it was a good central location to Hilo, Kona and Mauna Kea. The house was very clean, the spa amenities were great, the view was great. We did have some issues with the sauna we messaged about but having access to this, the hot tub and a cold plunge was great! And the welcome fruit basket was such a sweet touch.
A vacation here is truly an enriched escape to alost era of civility, solitude as needed, consistentinvolvement with nature, with most gracious andInformed hosts. The property is beautifully designedand finished to provide all comforts as well as aninvolvement of the environment. The town of Honoka’a is an additional blessing.
The property was exactly as it was described in the listing. It is a large property with a grassy area and lots of trees. We enjoyed the jacuzzi and the beautiful view of the ocean. There were many windows in the house which created a wonderful breeze. The town of Honokaa is quaint with several cute shops.
We have stayed in several rentals, and this one tops the list!!! The view from the property is breathtaking. Walking through the orchard picking and eating fresh fruit was such a unique and wonderful experience! Our kids loved all the little geckos running around, they had names and there were favorites before we left. The beds were comfortable, the hot tub was a nice place to relax after a long day. Having access to a washer and dryer is a must after a day at the beach! Honokoa’a is a conveniently close little town (we strongly recommend lunch at Andrade’s). The property caretakers, Marcus and Shigeko, were wonderful and made the experience extra special for us. We would definitely stay here again if we came back to the Big Island!
I cannot say enough wonderful things about this property. It was an oasis of serenity and absolutely as advertised. The view was breathtaking. The property was incredible - so much to explore and enjoy! The house was well-appointed and comfortable. The host, Marcel, was very responsive as was the on-site property manager, Kristi. The location was perfect for us - just about equidistant from both Kona and Hilo, close to Waimea, 10 minutes from downtown Honokaa (which is lovely and we did most of our shopping there), peaceful, and reasonably quiet. Others have made reference to street noise but honestly, it was not an issue for us. We were there in late September so timing may make a difference. Mobile phone service (at least for Verizon and AT&T) was bad to non-existent at the house but there is a landline and great Wifi so it wasn't an issue at all. We were on the Big Island to celebrate my friend's 60th birthday and it was absolutely perfect for us. While there were just two of us, the house can accommodate several more people. There is plenty of seating, beds were comfortable, there were beach towels, some beach accessories we did not use (but they were available), decent sized closets and enough hangers, FANS (because it was hot y'all), and a sweet, adorable resident cat who wandered over to say hello when we came home. We were there for a week and I could have very happily stayed longer.
The house, view, garden, and hosts were amazing. Great view of everything from the ocean to the night sky. House was clean and hosts were very informative about location, directions and gave us a great place to explore the rest of the big island.
Everything was present as advertised, and the spa facilities were a nice addition to the house, considering there is no nearby beach access, although maybe not quite as high-end as one may expect based on other spa experiences. The views were amazing, and the house was charmingly decorated and furnished. We had a great stay here!
Perfect for us. We loved walking the grounds, picking fresh fruit for breakfast on the deck facing the ocean, and the private hot tub. Comfy beds and solid kitchen plus lots of beach stuff to borrow. Nicely quiet at night (if you don't mind nature noises). Really nice touch to have a full welcome fruit bowl to enjoy during out stay.
We had a wonderful 28 days at this beautiful home! This was our 3rd stay! We especially enjoyed the beautiful view, orchard with fresh fruits and the hot tub! The home was clean and had everything we needed! We enjoyed Honokaa and the Hamakua golf course too!! We enjoyed ourselves so much that we are already booked to come back next year!! We also want to thank Marcus and Shigeko for being so welcoming and helpful!
This is our second stay at the property. It’s got a lovely back porch and view! We love walking the grounds and plucking fruit off the trees to sample!
Beautiful space. Nice and clean. Beautiful views. We used the mermaid room for our fifth person rather than having people sleep in the living room. Friendly caretakers.
