About this property

Secluded cabin retreat on 8 private acres with Hot Tub

Unwind and make unforgettable memories at our secluded Alta cabin in the Sierra Tahoe mountains. Nestled at 3,500 ft. on 8 private acres of forest, we invite you to get comfortable and experience Northern California like never before. Our cabin is centrally located between the Tahoe / Donner ski resorts and the Gold Country. This 3 bedroom and 1 bath cabin will accommodate 6-7 people comfortably. Enjoy the outdoors for the day and come home to your own cabin retreat with a hot tub and fireplace!

The space
Local Ski Resorts:
35 minutes - Boreal, Sugar Bowl and Donner Ski Ranch
50 minutes - Northstar CA Resort, Palisades / Olympic Valley and Alpine Meadows

When you enter the cabin you are greeted with an open floor plan feel. Our cabin features vaulted ceilings in the living and dining room with floor to roof windows allowing you to take in sweeping woodland views and tons of natural sunlight. Our fully stocked kitchen allows the conversation to continue whether the group is hanging out at the dining table or large couch area. Get cozy on the couch and warm up with the log burning fireplace with plenty of wood supplied!

In the morning, enjoy sipping coffee in silence amongst the wildlife on the wrap-around deck or a night BBQing with the family under the starry night sky. During the winter months, enjoy the outdoors playing in the snow (after a good storm) or at a local snow park or ski resort within a 35 minute drive.

Upstairs is a large loft room with a King bed and work desk to enjoy the amazing view looking out the wall of windows into the forest. The main level has a bedroom with a queen bed and another bedroom with full sized bunk beds and a twin trundle (small children only). All of our beds have memory foam mattresses and comfy bedding.

The bathroom is fully stocked with towels, shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. The vanity and sink is located outside from the shower and is stocked with bathroom essentials.

The cabin has a Verizon 5G Wi-Fi hot spot for light use to stay connected if your phone carrier does not work at the cabin. So whether you came to fill your days with outdoor activities or unplug off-the-grid we can all agree that time spent at a cabin is time well spent.

If you have any specific questions or need recommendations, please do not hesitate to reach out. We look forward to making your stay a memorable one.
Guest access
You will have the whole property during your stay with your guests. There is a secondary building that is not accessible. Before your check in we will send you a code for the electronic lock and the lock box with keys as a backup.
Other things to note
Road Access - The cabin is a quarter mile down a gravel/dirt road. During the dry season all cars will not have any problems. During the winter months, it is highly recommended to have all wheel drive or good off road/snow rated tires. If the driveway requires plowing we will schedule for it to be done before your stay.

Recreational Vehicles - Alta is at the gateway of off road and winter sports in the Tahoe National Forest. Our property has plenty of space to park any toys you bring along!

There is train crossing half a mile away and they are required to blow their horn as they approach the crossing. It is noticeable to some when there is no other noise in the cabin, otherwise it is not.

Outdoor Furniture - During the winter we put away the cushions due to rain and snow.

Occupancy Tax - Your reservation includes a mandated Placer County 8% occupancy tax.

Eight Acre Woods
We were a group of friends looking for a quiet place to rest and recharge and this was just the place for that. The very cozy cabin has floor to ceiling windows that let in the wonderful woodsy views and natural light. The kitchen was fully stocked and had everything we needed to cook our meals and gather to visit. We visited during the rain and found the outdoor view while curled up in front of the fireplace to be very cozy. We also braved the light rain in the hot tub for a spell and I cant say enough about the woodsy locale. Surrounded by towering trees, you can hear the water moving through the creek below, and enjoy the comical squirrels that zoom through the property. The trail was a little too wet and slick during our stay to hike all the way down to the creek, but there really is something for every activity level. The hosts were very responsive and you can feel the pride they take in playing host. Everything was clean and comfortable and accomodating. They have thought of every detail. I can't wait to visit again.

Great Cabin
Very clean and nicely appointed. Loved the vibe and amenities (and we are very particular). The kitchen had everything we needed to cook all meals. The property was beautiful and the owners made it easy to communicate should there be issues-though there were not any to speak of. We would definitely stay here again.

The perfect cozy cabin getaway
We were looking for a cabin to decompress and relax in. This place was perfect! The property is gorgeous, the cabin is a great size and thoughtfully decorated. The kitchen had a beautiful gas range and was well equipped. A generous amount of firewood/kindling was provided to enjoy the fireplace with. The outdoor hot tub was a plus! Amazing views of the woods through the big living room windows.

When we saw this property we knew this was our new beginnings as hosts.
