Private mountain getaway with huge views on 10 wooded acres! The property is nestled among mature timber, with a creek running through the backyard. Most days, you'll get to see moose :)

The main house has 3 bedrooms 3.5 baths and a loft with an office with plenty of room for a Queen sized air-mattress (provided). The garage is HEATED and there are 2 additional bedrooms - no bathroom in the garage - so we call it the bunk room.

We have 9 total beds, a Queen Floor mattress, pack & play, 3 sofas, and bedding/pillows to sleep up to 20 guests (recommend 12-16 adults).

Starlink wifi, hot tub, covered deck & patio, pool table, Bluetooth Soundsystem.

Watch the sunrise over Pike's Peak, sunset over Pennsylvania Mtn, and views of the Milky Way at night :) *Be sure to turn off house lights and you'll likely see shooting stars from the hot tub or back patio!

Other things to note: Must have AWD vehicle to access the home Nov-April, no refunds given if you get stuck. Snow Tires & chains recommended - Please familiarize yourself with Mountain Driving. The home is located on a gravel county road and we can not guarantee how often it is plowed. The driveway is plowed after 6" accumulation overnight.

Pet fee of $150 applied for up to 2 pets/stay. Additional pets must be approved.

Beautiful Location

The house was beautiful and well stocked. There are excellent amenities in the house (hot tub, pool table, games, puzzles, etc) The beds were comfortable as well which was a bonus. We would stay there again.

Family Getaway and Proposal

Reunion 2024

A group of friends now spread around the globe get together when we can for a reunion. The Mangy Moose was very high quality, well stocked, well managed and BEAUTIFUL. A perfect place for quality time in a group.

Wonderful stay

Kia was a great host! Her communication is superb – from immediate initial contact, to instructions beforehand, to several messages during the stay to check everything was ok. The home was very clean, comfortable and well stocked. A kitchen with all the items you need! Views are tremendous! We loved our stay here & I would definitely recommend.

The service was astounding

We stayed here Thanksgiving weekend and had a great time. The customer service and the small details made the difference. They provided medicine, extra towels, air mattresses and all cooking items you would need. They really thought about their guests and it showed. I would definitely come back!

Reunion

We do a college football reunion ski trip every March. This place has everything you would possibly need. Pool Table, hot tub, and views with wonderful people. Place. came fully stocked with all the essentials. Very easy drive to breck. We had a blast and will definitely stay here again. Host were very responsive and helpful with any questions we had. Zero issues during our 3 night stay!

Best vacation ever

After seeing all the 10/10 reviews on VRBO, I had to say I was skeptical. But after arriving at this cabin, I realized why all the reviews were so good. We have stayed at a lot of properties over the last 8-10 years, and this is by far the best stocked cabin we have ever stayed in. It had everything that we needed, and was labeled very well to be able to find things without looking all day. The view of the surrounding mountains is amazing, and the cabin itself is truly a beautiful home that we have enjoyed thoroughly over the last several days. We saw moose almost every day when we would go to town, and the owners were the best I have ever experienced at communicating with us to answer questions or make sure the cabin was running perfectly (even on the weekend!). It sounds like a sales pitch, but this cabin and it's owners truly stand out as one of the best experiences we have had with VRBO ever. Our family is very thankful that we were able to stay here, and I look forward to returning in the summer or fall to see the area again. 10/10 all day long!!

Great place , greater host

It was a very short and sweet stay. We arrived late at night. The house was warm, cozy and well equipped. The morning views from the balcony and the backyard is spectacular. Soon as we left the house, our car got stuck in a ditch full of snow . It was cold and the towing company estimated about two hours to winch out the car. We asked robert, the host if we can go back in the house despite it was already past 10:00 am . Not only robert let us in but he offered us to use all the hot cocoa and drinks inside the house to keep us warm. We stayed for two hours until our car got towed. My mom doesnt speak english but she did ask me to convery a big thank you to robert. You can find beautiful homes, but having a kind gentleman like robert is very rare. Highly recommended !!!

Amazing time!

Hi Kia & Rob, we thank you so much for allowing us to stay in your beautiful home. We enjoyed every moment of it. It was an amazing time with me and my family for my birthday weekend :). The place is magnificent. We really enjoyed the furnishings and decor. As well as the seclusion and views. Unfortunately, we didn’t see any moose but some of my family saw a moose and her baby as they were driving in :). The place was very cozy and warm once we figured out the heat. Loved that you had a fully stocked kitchen. It was high quality dishes, utensils, pans, etc. We also really loved the table spaces in each part of the house. Great for big parties of ppl. The game room downstairs was a big hit with the pool table and the hot tub. Everyone also loved the bathroom suites to the rooms downstairs. We also loved the master. The loft was also a nice addition. We thought the heated rooms above the garage were fabulous. Hope to come back in the summer!

Really nice cabin!

Everything about the property was just as expected - the house came furnished with just about anything and everything you could possibly need. Very well thought out by the hosts! Amazing property and nice amenities, such as the hot tub with a gorgeous outlooking view. Really hard to beat! Only complaint from me was the driveway situation in winter time, which the hosts did warn about. They advised on having a 4WD vehicle for the steep-incline driveway - our car rental company ran out of 4WD cars and we got stuck with 2WD. The driveway is steep and was solid ice underneath a thin blanket of snow.. So take caution for your winter stay! We ended up parking our 2WD cars at the top of the driveway. Really wish the driveway was salted or even topped off with some crushed gravel for better traction. Just sharing for awareness, but the hosts did warn about this. Still 5 out of 5 starts in my book, simply because this minor bit did not take away from the rest of the features/qualities of the home. Pictures and description are all accurate - so there were no surprises. The hosts are great communicators also. We did see a moose one day on the road a mile up from the house! Thanks for having us!

The mangy moose was very pet friendly. The place was ready on time as promised and communication with the owners was almost immediate. I really appreciated having questions answered in a timely manner. Our only problem was a member of our party got severe altitude sickness thus truncating our stay. Other members of the group were able to stay. One thing that would greatly improve the MM would be a bathroom facility in the garage thus eliminating the need to walk over to the main house for middle of the night usage. Other than that everything was perfect. We even had a little snow making the setting ever more magical and the appearance of the moose and some bear to add to the wonder that us Maui folks never see. I would return in a heartbeat, but the altitude may prohibit that.

Booked the Mangy Moose for our wedding. The hosts were both available whenever we had questions and ready to answer all. We have seen the residential moose Earl everyday leading to and on the day of the wedding. Check in and out instructions were simple and straight forward. Great Location & House!

We loved the location and size of this house. The house had everything we needed for our stay and plenty of beds for our party of 9. Our kids enjoyed the hot tube and our entire family enjoyed the pool table. The views from the house are fantastic and we enjoyed viewing moose, deer, and coyotes from the deck.

Beautiful home with all amenities

We have visited FairPlay 3 times now and this has been the BEST experience. It was a bit out of our budget but it was worth every penny. This home has everything you could possibly need. Extra toothbrushes, soap, bug spray, board games, a bunch of kitchen dishes and appliances. The listing mentions the wildlife in the area and it is very accurate. We saw elk, deer, plenty of chipmunks and even a bear!! The trees are beautiful, weather was great. There were 16 of us and we had plenty of room to sleep. The hosts were quick to respond and left plenty of instructions. I hope to come back next year , this home should definitely be your first pick.

Amazing Place!

Everything about our stay was amazing. The views were spectacular and the location was perfect. Just 20 minutes from the nearest town with all the amenities you’d need (grocery, gas, coffee) but isolated enough that you have all the nature Colorado has to offer (we saw moose, countless deer, and so many humming birds!)The house was amazing. Well stocked and supplied, clean, and everything was labeled so no hunting around for the right cupboard. The hosts supply an oxygen concentrator, which was appreciated by all of us flat landers!

Amazing Space for Intimate Wedding /Vacation

We rented this beautiful place for a family vacation and a wedding ceremony. The house was beautiful and the view was breathtaking! We saw wildlife around the property everyday. The hosts were amazing throughout the entire process, and the communication was great, both prior and during our stay. The home was fully stocked with everything we needed plus many extras! It was a wonderful experience and hope to be able to do it again soon!

Ski Weekend

My friends and I had a great stay here. The home was beautiful along with the views, and offers many amenities. We loved the clear directions and helpful signage throughout the home. Our hosts were very responsive prior and during our stay with any questions. I would highly recommend booking this home. The reason we chose this location was for overall bed options and location between our itinerary of skiing in Breck and hot springs at Mt Princeton.

Perfect wedding location

We had the handfast ceremony aka old wedding of our dreams at this cabin. The space for everyone to have there own rooms for the days befor the wedding. The entertainment basins the beauty of the mountains surrounding you. The little fox friends that come to visit you, all the beautiful wild life. Our wedding and time at this cabin was literally magical and perfect. The owner is fast responding and amazing to work with. Overall so happy we choose the mangy moose to stay!

Destination Wedding

A beautiful home to host our friends and family for our destination wedding. We spent a couple of days playing games, hot tubbing and making meals together. We ended our stay with a gorgeous outdoor wedding with the background of colorful trees and open sky! Our hosts communicated well and were friendly. We were welcomed with beautiful flowers and a gift for our wedding. Above and beyond the norm. Fully stocked home. Would return in a heart beat!!

We both grew up in the Midwest. Moved to Denver after College. Worked together building an insurance agency for 11yrs & transitioned away from insurance in 2021. Rob is the director of talent for Thrive Real Estate in Denver & Kia does most of the rentals (decorating, managing, & finding the next house). We love being hosts and hope you feel right at home when you stay with us.

Why they chose this property

We are not Colorado Natives, but moved here in 2004 & 2011. We had all 3 of our children here, so they are "Natives". We love all things Colorado - Hiking, Aspen Trees, Fly-fishing, Skiing/Snowboarding, Stargazing, Sunrises & Sunsets, Sports (Avalanche, Rockies, Broncos, Nuggets, Rapids) and so much more.

What makes this property unique

This house is the perfect getaway for our family. It's just under 2 hours from where we live in Denver. Our oldest just got his first Bow&Arrow set - so traversing the property on a summer day is so much fun. The kids love building forts and animal spotting - Mostly Moose, but there's plenty of cool birds, deer, and even Elk. We love star-gazing at night in the hot tub or relaxing after a day on the Slopes (Breckenridge & Copper). Our dogs: Sherlock, Maxwell, & Moose can't get enough outdoor time when we bring them up. We love the heated floors and automatic fireplaces in the winter. The whole house sound-system is great too. We love playing games as a family, so you'll find tons of cards, puzzles and board games too. There's also a few books - kids and adult (feel free to leave any behind).
