We had a nice stay at the tiny cottage which was walking distance to downtown Sanford. Comfortable and the hosts were very attentive to any requests we had.
This cute cottage was the perfect place to stay for the weekend when attending a wedding at a nearby venue. It was clean, comfortable, and offered the perfect amount of space for 2 adults. Check in was easy and the hosts were kind and communicative. If I’m ever back in the area, I would definitely stay here again!
These hosts are superior when comparing to others we have stayed with. We stay many times with VRBO and have never had a better experience with people than this. Thank you for your kindness and graciousness!
Everything was just as described. Claudia was accommodating and clear on instructions for house. Very close to downtown Sanford which is quant and eclectic. Perfect for a quiet weekend getaway. Highly recommend.
They did an amazing job with the small space. It felt very comfortable. Decorated very nicely. Very clean. Had water in the fridge coffee and candy out. Very private with nice sitting area. I d definitely recommend this place.and so close to Downtown. We could walk everywhere

NO FLUSH - Don't stay here.
If we were staying longer we would have complained while we were there. We only had 2 nights and didn't want to waste our time with this issue and totally ruin our stay. They have a cute little sign in the bathroom about what not to flush. Jokes on us, because you literally can't flush the toilet water, let alone the things on their sign. They clearly knew they had plumbing issues with the sign in the bathroom. We had to plunge the toilet every time it was used. We resorted to using bathrooms in local businesses while we were there. Any VRBO should have properly working toilet in it.

The toilet does flush! Very disappointed to read this review! You chose public restrooms rather than addressing the issue with the host? I really don’t get it! You informed us about this issue AFTER you checked out. We literally were not given the chance to make this right. As soon as you left, we called our plumber and the toilet was fixed within an hour. This is how easy it would have been, had you chosen to communicate! We have had back to back bookings at our cottage since you left (almost 2 weeks ago), just like we did for months before your visit, and zero complaints. We ask our guests several times before and during check-in to please let us know immediately if they need help with anything (we also mention that we live just a block away). Wouldn’t you think this qualifies as a situation where a guest should reach out to the host?
We work very hard on making sure that our place is in top condition and our guests have an amazing time and come back. That is why we maintain a Premier Host status and our reviews are a 5 star rating average. I agree with you, a toilet in a vacation rental should work, and I am sorry that you were not enjoying your stay due to this issue.
Plumbing issues can happen anytime, not just in historic homes. We use the signage in the bathroom at any of the homes we manage, old and new, and it is really common sense to follow what it says, it definitely isn’t meant as a joke.
So in summary, you communicated two times during your short stay. The first time when you requested an early check-in which we granted promptly and the second time after you had left when you casually (!) mentioned that the toilet wasn’t flushing. And now you’re bashing us here with a 1 star review. Sorry, but this feels like a betrayal. I could understand if we received a 1 star review from a guest who contacted us and then wasn’t helped. I am not sure how VRBO handles reviews like yours but this is obviously not fair, and it is very clear to see.

Hi there, we are Jose and Claudia and we look forward to hosting you and your family! We moved to Sanford in 2004 and fell in love with the historic district right away! We have two boys who love playing soccer, horseback riding - and being silly ;) Jose and I love to support local so you will often find us out and about! We love our little town of Sanford with all its unique businesses, cultural offerings, and popular events. One of our favorite events is Sanford Porchfest in February. We just finished building a home about a block away from this one, so we know this neighborhood inside out! We feel at home here, even though both Jose and I moved here from far away: Germany (Claudia) and Colombia (Jose). We enjoy traveling so we understand how important it is for guests to find a place that will make them feel at home. That's what we attempted when creating this very space! We selected only the best quality (mattresses, linens, furniture, etc.) and created a cozy inside and outside area where you can enjoy spending time with each other, or just relax and soak in the surroundings!
