We enjoyed our stay in the lovely house/cottage. It is pristine with quiet surroundings! Rockland is only 15 minutes away for excellent restaurants and shops. Come and stay at Hawkweed cottage and see for yourself!
The cottage has a wonderful view and we appreciated all the little things like having dish and hand soap when we got there. The bedding and towels were all clean and new looking.
We enjoyed exploring the area and coming back to relax on the deck listening to the birds and watching the boats. This was a perfect cottage for our family with lots to do in the area.
The Hawkweed Cottage is in a beautiful
location and very quiet and peaceful with an excellent view.Cottage was everything it was advertised and we had a great relaxing vacation!
The three bedroom cabin was perfect for us--all on one level, well supplied with bedding and kitchen essentials, spacious deck, and water views. Not on ocean, but lots of birds and woods on three sides.
Super nice house. Very clean, has all that I needed. The setting was postcard perfect. I loved waking to the beautiful scene just outside of my window. So peaceful and quiet. Just a short drive to everything.
The owners were great. Friendly and available.
I can’t wait to come back.
Excellent stay. Cottage is as advertised. Has all the basic needs and an incredible view and deck/backyard to enjoy it from. Short rides to area beaches, restaurants and activities. Very relaxing spot. Owners are very nice and easy to deal with.
The view was all promised! The back deck was perfect to relax, read, eat! The cottage was spotless - comfortable beds, clean updated bath and simple but very useable kitchen. Very convenient to Rockland, Camden and McLoon’s Lobster. Very responsive hosts.
Hawkweed is perfect for a quiet get-away. The cottage is immaculate and the landscaping beautiful! We explored the area----its history, ocean scenery ect.
Elaine and Rolland are most attentive owners.
We will see them next year !!
Hawkweed was the perfect place for us! It was clean and quiet and so very relaxing! There was a magical feeling there for us.
It was fun to watch the lobster boats coming and going and watch the tides go from high to low! We met Rolland and he was a charming host and we had a most enjoyable visit! I would recommend this cottage to anyone looking for a restful, relaxing vacation! We found excellent lobster meals in the area as well! It was a vacation we will always remember fondly!

The Hawkweed is a special place
My husband an I have stayed at the Hawkweed for two years in a row, we love it! The owners are nice and easy to deal with. The cottage is just the right size for a summer getaway, it is simple and clean - not overly filled with unnecessary things. The location is great, with a nice State Park (great place to swim) and just a down the road, and Rockland is very close. The yard and porch are great for morning coffee or reading a book in the sun with a beautiful view. Bring your kayaks - you can go right from the back yard and explore the cove. It is a special little place!
The view of the ocean cove is wonderful. It’s our favorite part of the place. The cottage is comfortable and has a cozy feel. It was clean and everything worked well. The kitchen was very well equipped with pots & pans, utensils, coffee maker & coffee grinder, mixing bowls, measuring cups& spoons, & an electric mixer. There was a basket with pens, pencils, scotch tape & scissors. Our every need was provided for! Only negative was mattresses in master bedroom. We like a firm mattress, but they were hard. So uncomfortable that tried to purchase a memory foam topper but none available locally. Everything else about the stay was great. Hopi g to return again!
We had a wonderful stay! The view was outstanding, the peace & quiet was restful, the deck was great for relaxing. The cottage has a lovely rustic charm, but was very clean and had all the moden amenities. We were impressed with the attention to detail: there was dish soap & sponge, hand sanitizer, hand soap, roll of paper towels, napkins, and garbage bags for the kitchen trash!!. In addition to stove & fridge, there was a microwave, toaster oven , toaster, coffee maker, coffee grinder, and pots & pans in useable condition(not always the experience in previous rentals). Had a good selection of utensils, mixing bowls and measuring cups, a hand held mixer. Made the cooks in the family very happy!!
There were plenty of good pillows on the beds, two extra blankets, two beach towels, two oscillationg fans for warm afternoons or evenings. We felt very well provided for!!
Just what we were hoping for!

A peaceful retreat
I hesitate to write this review and give any stars, because I want to keep this place to myself! Just returned from a week at Hawkweed (I think it's my 4th or 5th time....) and it was perfect in every respect. The cottage is exactly as pictured, so no surprises. It is immaculately kept and maintained., plenty of clean towels, hot water, nicely stocked kitchen area - everything you need for a comfortable stay. Simple, very clean, and a perfect secluded location with a fantastic view of the water; just a few minutes drive to Rockland for restaurants, museums, shops. My pups love it there (they think it's home). You can kayak from the property but it's not a swimming beach (you can get to one in just a few minutes by car). For me, the best part of Hawkweed is the secluded location, close to activities but a world away when you want to come home to the peace of the water. I've already booked for next year (again!).
Hawkweed Cottage is the perfect place for a September vacation. The view from the deck is beautiful! We slept in the “Maine Room” so we fell asleep looking at the stars and moon reflecting in the water, and awoke to pink and lavender skies each morning. The trees were just starting to change colors so I bet late September will be beautiful! We have already booked our return for next year.
We had a lovely 2-week stay at Hawkweed Cottage. It was perfect! Very clean, well stocked with everything we needed, quiet. Hosts were very friendly and communication was excellent.
Beautiful location. Cottage simple but comfortable. Well supplied with everything you could possibly need. No air conditioning but didn’t need. They have 2 fans available and if you open the windows it would circulate that wonderful sea air. It is very convenient to all the stores or restaurants. Extremely quiet and peaceful. Just what you need on vacation from your busy life. Hope to return some day.
Quaint little cottage on a quiet lane perfect for daily walks. A secluded location only 15 minutes to Rockland. Very clean and well equipped with everything you need for your stay. Would definitely stay again. Loved visiting with the owner when he stopped by. Thank you for sharing your cottage.
We thoroughly enjoyed our week at Hawkweed Cottage. The cabin is compact, tidy, rural and has everything one needs for a vacation week in Maine. The deck and front lawn are perfect for watching the tides change, the birds, lobster boats and in our case the spectacular Harvest Moon.
We enjoyed the area, visited The Farnsworth Museum, some galleries and Antique shops, ate far too many lobster rolls and sampled several bakeries. Fortunately we walked miles every day with our corgi!
The tranquility of Hawkweed cottage is something really special.

I am a real estate agent and own investment properties. The cottage is intended to be a retirement refuge. In the mean time it is great fun to share with many guests who love it as we do.
Why they chose this property
This cottage is the perfect hide-away. Quiet and beautiful, a real escape. Excitement and entertainment are within a short drive. We are pet friendly and it is a safe and exciting place for good dogs to play. We have also entertained cats!
What makes this property unique
I get many requests for early to mid June. Because of the weather and the secluded location we are unable to open until mid to late June. We do however have a lovely fall and rent until the first week in October.
