Cozy, private lakefront cottage with sunset view!

Cozy cottage perfect for a couples getaway. Down a curvy dirt road, deep in forest of the birch and maple trees, this cute little gem of a cottage sits above beautiful and tranquil Sundog Lake. This cottage faces west and has the best view of the most amazing sunsets. There's a deck on the front to enjoy the lake view or enjoy the wooded view from the back deck. You'll see and hear wildlife galore here; deer, moose, loons, and the eagles frequently perch around this cottage. Sundog Lake is a private (no public access) spring fed lake. It's a quiet lake with the occasional fishing boat or pontoon puttering by. You have your own private dock to fish from or put out a chair and read a book. The shoreline is sand with some rocks and clams. Great swimming, relaxing on a tube but there is lake vegetation beyond the dock. Inside you'll find an efficient retreat. What she lacks in size, she makes up for in pure charm. Main level has a bedroom with a queen bed, full bathroom (stand up shower), full kitchen equipped with everything you will need, and living area with a pellet stove. Upstairs is a loft open to the front of the home. The loft has games, books and a rocker to enjoy the view. Also in the loft are two small, but functional bedrooms. These bedrooms are open to the loft area. There is lots to explore in the Republic area like kayaking, and hiking and you are 45 min from Iron Mountain, 60 minutes from Marquette, 60 minutes from Canyon Falls, 90 minutes from Bond Falls (plus, lots to see along the way). We had an excellent stay. The cottage was just as described and had everything we needed for making meals (which is essential as there really are no restaurants nearby). The Starlink proved reliable too and my wife was even able to run a vidoe call.The paddling was great on Sundog and Little Sundog Lake. We saw a fair bit of wildlife including a pretty close up bear sighting. The cottage was clean and the bed we used quite comfortable. Probably the best endorsement we can give is that we plan to stay here again.

We really enjoyed our time at this little lake cabin. We spent our time paddling around the beautiful and quiet Sundog Lake, floating by the dock, and lounging on the back deck. It's a wonderful location, deep in the woods. Coming from the city, it took a minute to adjust to the levels of quiet, and the darkness of the night skies, it's truly a tranquil place. We loved our time here and highly recommend it!

Beautiful Cottage

This was a great place to stay. We loved the central location for day trips to the Keweenaw, Marquette, Wisconsin, and much more! The lake is beautiful and peaceful. There was no wifi available, but it was hardly missed with so much to explore. We would recommend this property!

A tranquil place to decompress. The lake view is priceless, gorgeous sunsets. Great fishing bass blue gill and sunfish and they like hotdogs. Had a small issue and the owners were on top of the problem and made it right.

Adorable little cottage in a perfection location. We spent a day chasing waterfalls and checking out Marquette. And a day hiking in the Porcupine Mountains. We even took one day just to relax at the cottage and kayak and fish. Sundog Lake was so beautiful and the boys caught perch, bass, and bluegill. I loved sitting by the fire and enjoying the view of the lake. The cottage was extremely clean, had comfy beds, a fully stocked kitchen, and a hot shower. And the price was better than staying at a hotel. We loved our time on Sundog lake!

Perfect for a family of four. We spent time at the house playing games, watching movies, kayaking on the lake, and seeing bald eagles. We took some day trips to Iron Mountain iron mine, porcupine mountains, and Bond falls. My family and I enjoyed our stay very much

Beautiful, secluded lake

We loved our time at Yukon Cottage! The owner was very helpful and informative. We caught a TON of bass and bluegill with an occasional crappie and perch. The lake is so quiet and the wildlife was great. Be sure to follow Kristen's directions since GPS gave us incorrect ones. We would definitely stay at Yukon again!!

Beautiful, secluded, home away from home

This was such a cute cabin incredibly clean and over all just gives you the comfort of being at home while away from home. The view from the porch was breath taking. We hope to stay again next year! The host was also amazing, our GPS wasnt working because of limited cell service. The host sent us the directions ahead of time thankfully!!! Thank you again for making our family vacation AMAZING!!!

It was a great location love how peaceful it was and the wildlife that was all around did get a little lost finding it the first time but it was actually really easy to get to once you find the road also was informed by the owners of construction although i couldnt send a message back because it is so secluded i appreciated the heads up and it was no problem getting to and from the cabin would definitely recommend if you love peace and quite and its not to far from town if needed beds where also very comfortable

Family Exploration

A very clean lake and cabin. Loved the kayaking, swimming, and playing the vintage board games. The bedding blankets were incredibly cozy and were a wonderful touch. We had everything we needed. Perfect for a family of four and a pup that are up exploration. Nights are very buggy so campfires outside were a no go for us. Flies could be a nuance on the dock depending on the wind but once out in the water, they were less bothersome on those days.

Beautiful and quiet stay!

We absolutely loved our stay at this cabin! It's off the beaten path, which was exactly what we were looking for. It was on the small side, but it wasn't a big deal when we spent most of our time outside. The outside area is very spacious. There is plenty of room in the front yard for yard games and to have a fire and grill. There is a nice deck on the back overlooking the lake, which was perfect for early morning coffee and reading time. The lake itself was beautiful, calm, and clear. Our kids had a blast jumping off the pier and floating in tubes. They also caught multiple fish. The 2 kayaks that are provided were in great condition, they seemed brand new. This was such a wonderful vacation, and we would definitely return!

Tedious to get to, easy to enjoy

This was a lovely, quiet cabin. We’ll maintained but also the charm of a cabin that’s been there a while. The loft was a favorite for our two kids. We stayed during the week and only saw a few people on the water all week. There is a neighbor next door but not there during our stay. Of all the places we’ve stayed, this was comparatively tougher to get to. We brought our food for the week which I recommend, since it’s not convenient to drive back and forth to places - just stay and relax! The firewood was a surprising bonus. There is a small rowboat and two kayaks which we got a lot of use from. It was weedy off the end of the dock but it’s a lake, so the girls jumped in anyway. Loved the lounge furniture on the lake side of the cabin just to sit and enjoy the view. The wind and unusually chilly weather kept the bugs away which was nice. Owners were helpful with instructions before our stay and with information in the cabin. We enjoyed our stay and this was a great alternative to busy resort cabins if you want to avoid crowds.

Quiet cabin with amazing views!

We loved our stay at the Yukon Trail Cabin! It was exactly what our family needed. It's quiet and remote! We have an 8 year old and 11 year old and they loved their time there as well. Our kids fished off the dock everyday and caught a bunch of fish. There are clams all over the place, and our kids also had a fun time gathering the clams and then watching them move over night! A few tips: 1. You are out in the wilderness! Pack enough groceries for the time you are there because it's a decent drive to get food. 2. There really isn't any cell service at the cabin (which is one of the things we loved!) just plan for that. 3. There are some great movies there to watch and games to play, but if you want certain ones make sure to bring them along if the weather isn't great. 4. Bring some floaties to float around in the water or get to deeper water to swim. The lake is beautiful with super clear water. Kristin does a great job communicating everything, make sure you listen to all of her tips!
