The house was super cute with tons of historical character still intact. Convenient to all of our outings in downtown. The area is on the up, but a little rough. The house had comfortable beds but the TV room could use more cozy furniture to wind down in at the end of a busy day.

A Great Home Away From Home

My husband and I stayed here for Red Poppy Festival 2025 with our 3 kids (ages 8,7,&2) plus my parents. We all slept comfortably in the 3 bedrooms. There was plenty of room for our toddler’s pack and play as well. The kids loved the yard space and especially the swings. The location was very convenient for walking to the square and a couple playgrounds for the kids. It is a well-maintained property cared for with love. The kids even asked when we’ll get to stay there again!

A Peaceful Getaway

My family and I appreciated the history of the home and the charming architectural details. Our beds were comfortable, the kitchen was well equipped, the washer and dryer were easily accessible and there was plenty of seating for dining and playing games around one of two tables. We just happened to stay when the red poppies were in full bloom around the property and throughout the town. The neighborhood is quiet and an easy walk to the downtown shops and restaurants.James is an excellent host and answers questions promptly. (Thank you, James!) We enjoyed our stay so much that we booked for another stay!

Great return visit

This was our second stay at this property. The proximity between Southwestern University and downtown Georgetown make it an excellent choice for anyone who would want to be walking distance to either location. You’re also walking distance or a bike ride to San Gabriel Park and all the amenities of the hike and bike trails there. The house is a perfect size for a family and it has all of the amenities to feel like home.

About the host

Hosted by James Wade

Host profile image
After losing both of our parents in 2020 and 2021, my brothers and I found ourselves leaning on each other—and on the house we had always called home. Letting it go didn’t feel right. So instead, we made another decision: to open our childhood home as a short-term rental. It’s given us a way to keep their memory close, spend time in a place that still feels like “home,” and—if we’re lucky—pass it on to a fourth generation.

The house sits quietly on the corner of 7th and Pine in Georgetown’s charming Old Town Historic District, where it’s been part of our family since 1963. Our grandparents bought it first, then gifted it to our parents as a wedding present in 1968. For the next 52 years, our mom and dad raised the three of us there, filling it with laughter, traditions, and love.

Today, every room holds a story—birthday parties in the backyard under the pecan trees, holiday dinners, long porch sits on fall mornings. It’s not a showplace; it’s something better: a real family home with roots and heart.

Whether you're here to explore Georgetown’s famed town square or just looking to slow down in a quiet, historic neighborhood, we hope our home gives you the same sense of comfort and belonging it’s always given us.

Why they chose this property

LOCATION - LOCATION - LOCATION

You can walk to the "most beautiful town square in Texas" (5 blocks), Southwestern University (2 blocks), parks, trails and so much more!

Georgetown is more than just where we grew up—it’s part of who we are. It’s small town USA in the best sense, with front porches, friendly neighbors, and a town square that still feels like a step back in time. Over the years, we’ve watched it grow into something even more special—a true destination known for its amazing local restaurants, charming shops, live music, and community events that bring people together.

There’s always something happening here—Poppy Fest in the spring, the Two Step Inn music festival, First Friday concerts, Market Days, Pistons on the Square, and so much more. It’s the kind of place where memories are made year-round.

What makes this property unique

We don’t just offer a place to stay—we invite you into a home that’s been part of our family for over 60 years and three generations. Located in Georgetown’s cherished Old Town Historic District, this house is filled with history, heart, and the kind of charm you simply can’t replicate.

You’ll find original touches throughout—like the shiplap walls, screen doors, hardwood floors, the old shaving cabinet, and the clawfoot tub—each with its own story to tell. But what really makes this space special are the things we’ve chosen to keep and share: shelves of classic books, antique furniture, our family’s handmade quilts, vintage toys from our childhood, and even our personal record collection. It’s all here, thoughtfully curated to reflect the soul of the home.

And when you step outside, you’re just a short walk from Georgetown’s "most beautiful town square in Texas", nearby parks, local trails, and Southwestern University. We hope you feel the same sense of warmth and connection here that our family has felt for generations.
