About this property

Violette's Respit -Gateway of Millionaire's Row offers loads of space-pets ok

Violette's Respit offers rest and relaxation from your ordinary day and life. Enjoy this Cape Cod of 3650+ square feet spacious indoor living space including on the main floor: formal living room with stone fireplace, formal dining room, breakfast area by culinary kitchen, full bath and large family room. Now moving upstairs: extraordinary master suite and bathroom, library/office, 3 bedrooms and another full bath. Outdoors includes: gardens w/small water feature, huge expansive patio, outdoor kitchen and smoker, covered patio underneath upstairs deck, huge fenced yard with loads of room to run around in.
If you enjoy cooking, this kitchen is for you with a Thermador stove and oven plus a separate wall oven for bakers with its proofing setting. It is nicely equipped as long as the tools stay with the home. Sadly some past folks have helped themselves to some of the items, have replaced most. For your cooking/grilling/smoking culinary skills, the outdoor kitchen will help prepare tasty meals.
There is enough room with various living areas to still away for quiet/alone time.
Take a walk to the water's edge/pier at the end of the street or take the kids to swing at the playground behind the gazebo down the street. Enjoy the coffee shop up the street and restaurants right down the street.
Need a break from the rat race that is DC or Richmond, this is the place!

Beautiful old home, in a wonderful community
This is a beautiful older home with a ton of character and charm. It is located perfectly in the heart of Reedville, in close proximity to restaurants and the water. Highly recommend.

Family getaway
Wonderful weekend, this house has so much space, much more than we expected from the listing. Very convenient on Main Street Reedville. Downstairs has lots of space to spread out, nice toy box well stocked for kids. We enjoyed our stay and would book again when in the area.

Weekend getaway
We were in town for a nearby baseball tournament. The house was clean and had everything we needed. It was very charming and spacious for a big family. The fenced in yard was great for the dogs.

We purchased this home from the original owners in 2003, several days before Hurricane Isabelle hit. The house was built in 1936 and withstood the storm with no damage however a couple of trees where lost making room for the garage. The house had not been updated, painted, etc since the Captain died in the 70's. We did extensive work initially: extensive additions of the garage and master suite, family/tv room, patio. outdoor kitchen with grill, sink and smoker plus the covered porch under upstairs deck. The kitchen was expanded and upgraded in 2019; Rick loves to cook. Rick hails from Florida and Pam from Dallas where they met dated and married in 1980, we have two daughters and 3 grandchildren-1 girl and twin boys. Rick is an Army Viet Nam Vet and retired from AAFES and dedicated his life to soldiers. Pam is an adjunct professor for the Carter School for Peace and Conflict Resolution and enjoys research, teaching and practicing using alternative dispute resolution tools. We love this home and miss it but alas we had to relocate to Petersburg for medical care. Reedville is a million miles and a throw back to a simpler time. The two traffic lights in Northumberland were installed a while after we moved here. Main Street is delightful and in walking distance to a coffee shop, the Reedville Fishermans Museum, Reedville Market Restaurant, Chitter Chats Ice Cream and the Crazy Crab. Your children will enjoy the playground this side of the church and the wide sidewalks are perfect for bike riding (bring your own). Violette's Respit provided many hours of rest, relaxation, sailing and renewal for us. We hope our home will provide the same for you.

Why they chose this property

We selected this home and location because of the close proximity to the water but not on the water. Rick grew up in Florida and has been through many storms and wisely did not want to contend with damage caused to water front properties. We are located on a land finger and are surrounded by water on three sides-Chesapeake Bay, Great Wicomico River and Cockrell Creek. Water views are a short walk away. The area is inhabited by the descendants of many of the original settlers and enslaved people. You will notice their distinct accents which is heavily influenced by the English. Reedville is a fishing village and was the home of many fisheries. Today Omega is the only one that remains and they are a Menhaden fish processing business yielding Omega 3-a common vitamin and food additive for us all. There is an abundance of history here.....explore.

What makes this property unique

Violette's Respit is spacious and unique offering the guests plenty of room inside and outside. Enjoy the park like backyard. Violet, the original owner was an avid Gardner and an officer of the area Garden Club. The kitchen is a "cook's kitchen" offering amenities that makes cooking an art and pleasure. You will find all the basics plus some to fix a delectable meal. The master suite is unparalleled with the location apart from the rest of the home offering privacy, a romantic fireplace and a television to watch your favorite programs. The deck is entered from the office; this space offers quiet with a comfortable chair to read your favorite literature genre. Plus if you really need to, you can check in with job and clients without being disturbed..
