Howdy, welcome to The Coop! The Coop is a special place. We poured our hearts into the remodeling and design of this space, wishing that our guests would feel all the love and great energy when spending time here. The Coop is a private sanctuary to unwind, relax, and rejuvenate with your near and dear. Michael's sensorial interior design is curated to feel like you've been transported a world away with each different space that you enter. Drive behind our private gate and the "girls" will welcome you to the Coop, where they spend their days laying fresh eggs in their stylish pen. They invite you to play corn hole or try your hand at lassoing their cow folk friends. Continue into our farmhouse that is rich with history as it was the first veterinarian clinic in this town. The single-story farm has been transformed from its days of helping ducks, horses, and even raccoons beginning in the 1950's to a contemporary work of art. Enter the home and your eyes will not know where to settle as they take in the eclectic interior design. The farmhouse itself is single story, three bedroom, two and a half bath with ample, comfortable living spaces created specifically for your stay. Be transported to Morocco in the master bedroom featuring a king-sized bed and ensuite wet bath. Fergus, our Scottish Highland, welcomes you with a kiss to the first queen bed guest room. The second guest bedroom as well has a queen bed. The sunroom, just off the guest bedrooms and backyard, has a queen sleeper sofa, rounding out to eight sleeping spots in the house. The living room is plentiful with seating to gather around and make memories or play good old-fashioned board games into the wee hours of the night. Swing into the day in the sunroom while spinning a record or reading from the New York Post stand. Our gorgeous kitchen features full sized, Café series appliances and is well appointed with all the needed instruments to create and serve a delicious home cooked meal to your group. Made all that much better that it can be served family style, and all gather around the Coop’s long dining room table. This home also has two sets of washers and dryers available to our guests. Laze the afternoon away in the good ol’ boys club, the Coop tack room, with two fingers of scotch and your best buds. Try your hand at lassoing the cows in the corral or spark up a friendly game of cornhole in the stall next door. And, yes, the “girls” are judging you and your skills, haha. Be transported to Palm Springs in our trendy backyard. Picture yourself in your sunhat, cocktail in hand, lounging the day away on the sun beds. Take yourself back to grade school and work up a sweat to jump into the pool on the hopscotch. Grab a delicious baguette from Bob’s Well Bread and create the perfect picnic lunch under the pergola. Michael designed this incredible, one-of-a-kind home to be a place of gathering. So please join us and create memories with those that you love. We look forward to your stay!

The house is so cute and spacious. The main bedroom is amazing and the view of the pool is perfect. The guests staying in the two spare bedrooms said they were comfortable but would like a small fan for air movement but other than that we all enjoyed our time at this location. You have to enjoy the seating areas, check out the chickens and lounge by the pool.
This property was perfect for a girls' getaway and close to many wineries nearby. Michael, the owner, was very responsive, but we did need to reach out directly about all check-in/check out instructions. It was lovely to have access to a private pool on the property, but this did need some maintenence and cleaning. We would highly recommend staying here if in the area! It was such a great place and location.
Location of property was perfect! Right between Los Olivos & Solvang. They had 6 bikes for us to use which was great fun. Would’ve been nice to have all 3-King beds instead of 1-King & 2- Queen but we made it work. Bobs bakery at the end of the block was nice to grab a coffe & breakfast. We didn’t rent a car so ordering Ubers to get around the valley was easy too. Host was prompt when needed. Would highly recommend!
We had a wonderful bachelorette party weekend at this property! The house is exactly as described and the location is excellent. Walking distance to Bob's Well Bread and a short drive to several wineries and both downtown Santa Ynez and Los Olivos. I would absolutely recommend this place for a unique and fun girls weekend.
The home is exactly as shown in the pictures. All the details are outstanding. Great communication with the owner. The property is close to everything. The beds are super comfortable. Highly recommend!
The house and property was great! Super fun decorating and inspiring. Great quiet, private location. Nice to have the pool and didn't need a view because the whole house was decorated so fun with great style and colors. Only thing--- the bathrooms could use some towel hooks, but this place was the best! We had a relaxing, quiet getaway. Great restaurants and shopping were a close drive.
From the moment we arrived, we felt right at home. Everything we needed was at the house. We brought food and drinks and spent 3 days basking in the sun, riding bikes to Los Olivos, wine tasting, listening to live music and enjoying everything the area has to offer. Bobs Well Bread is at the end of the block, Solvang is less than a 10 minute drive & Los Olivos is about a 15 minute bike ride Or 5 minute drive. I will definitely come back and stay! It was a wonderful trip!
Great house, decently appointed and the perfect spot for eating great food and wine tasting in the valley! Had to coerce communication from the property manager, which felt a little weird given we paid up front a month before the trip. All ended up well and we loved it, but no real communication and no guide/protocol book.
Our family of four stayed for three nights and had a wonderful time! The location was ideal—just a short drive to both Solvang and Los Olivos, which made exploring the area super convenient. One of our favorite things was walking down the street in the morning to grab coffee and pastries from Bob’s Well Bread—so delicious! The house itself was charming and thoughtfully decorated, with a fun, stylish vibe. It was clean, comfortable, and well-stocked with everything we needed for our stay.A heads-up for the ladies: the two full bathrooms don’t have much counter or storage space, so it’s helpful to bring a toiletry bag you can easily carry in and out. Alternatively, the half bath has more space and worked well for getting ready. We also spent a relaxing afternoon by the pool. While it could use a bit of updating, it was clean and perfectly enjoyable.Overall, a great stay in a great location—we’d definitely come back!
We had a great girls weekend stay at The Coop. The property is so unique and spacious, there was plenty of parking, multiple living spaces to relax in, and the pool felt great on a warm weekend. The home was well equipped with kitchen tools, towels, and other necessities. We enjoyed grabbing a few eggs from the chickens in the morning as well. We noticed a few spider webs, spiders, and other bugs around the property. I'm sure it's normal for a more rural area but might be due for a pest control visit. Overall we loved the fun eclectic vibes of the home and would recommend it to our families and friends staying in the area. Oh! and a simple printed check out instructions left somewhere inside would be helpful. I had to reach out to make sure we we're leaving everything as we should.
We loved the original intent of the hosts to create a very unique and comfortable getaway. Unfortunately guests are not always thoughtful in caring for vacation rentals and The Coop has not been maintained in the manner it deserves. Even though the rates charged are premium, it felt like we were staying in a second tier property. I felt like we had a good connection with the manager and reported several of our concerns. The response was “well no one has ever complained about that”.
The place was very nice. Exactly as advertised. The down side of our trip was the refrigerator broke down. The owner responded immediately but the repair took a couple of days and we lost most of our food. We were not compensated for our loss. Instead we were told to get an ice chest. We feel we should have been compensated for our loss or provided an ice chest.
This is a super cute place - totally looks like the pictures. There is a huge master bedroom and 2 smaller queen bedrooms. This isn't a house for those who want to be cozy at home - this is perfect for pool parties or any kind of gathering where you can hang out and use the awesome kitchen. It was cold and rainy during my visit so I was bummed we couldn't take advantage of the pool.
The place is only a few minutes away from downtown Solvang, so it's a great location. It's also in a very quiet neighborhood.
Note: there's a very friendly cat on the property who would run into the house any time we opened the door. We loved him!
We really loved this property weather we were lounging by the pool, playing cornhole or just hanging out there was ample space to stretch out, the girls were a real treat and provided us with eggs for breakfast i wooed them with a little guitar playing lol. Nestled close to los Olivos we had a amazing dinner at the wine merchant, bikes are available to ride and golf courses close to the property, we look forward to coming back and staying a bit longer, there is a old friendly cat that stayed around the house she was a great addition to the property you just have to be careful she will let herself in and loves to join the party, I would recommend this property to anyone that wants to relax with friends and family
Thank you!
"The Coop" caught my eye when looking for a place to stay in the Santa Ynez Valley. You can tell that this unique property was created with love & curated with a playful sense of style. We stayed one chilly rainy February weekend, and Michael preheated the home for our arrival. Designed for gathering, there are cozy touches throughout: baskets of throw blankets to cuddle up, vintage parfait glasses & spoons for sundaes or rootbeer floats, a gourmet kitchen with everything you need to create the perfect meal, unique artwork, a newspaper stand turned vinyl turntable, and multiple common areas for conversation, wining, and dining. "The Coop" has a fun instagrammable character that would work well for a Bachelorette gathering. There are shiny new bikes, fantastic outdoor games (bags, jenga, lasso the cow), a curious flock of chickens and lots of personal touches throughout. It was too cold to swim, but the pool area will be GREAT once the weather warms up. We hope to visit again soon, and would recommend this place to anyone looking for an extra special one-of-a-kind get away with friends or family.
