Chung Cottage - a 1br/1.5ba cottage steps from Hanalei Bay

Chung Cottage
This family-friendly property features a large fenced yard and a covered outdoor dining area. Located a short walk from beautiful Hanalei Bay and also close to Hanalei town with lots of shops, restaurants, food markets and the public Kauai Bus stop. One bedroom, one and a half bath. There is a Queen bed and a single bed in the guest bedroom. The living room couches are also single beds - with sleeping for 5 guests. The Cottage comes fully equipped with a kitchen, full size washer/dryer, a flat screen Smart TV and DVD player, and WiFi. There is also a Weber charcoal grill (and a great fish market located in Hanalei town) and beach chairs, mats, and beach towels.

As required by Interpretive Administrative Zoning Rules and Regulations, Rule 1-A, “for those transient vacation rentals located in the tsunami evacuation zone", we are informing you that transient vacation rentals located in Hanalei, Wainiha and Haena are located in the tsunami evacuation zone.

The cottage is an odd-sized and designed place but the location! and outdoor space were fantastic. A five-minute walk to Hanalei Beach as well as downtown Hanalei can’t be beat. The staff also were helpful, especially when we were deciding whether to head up from Poipu when the bad Kona Low storms were passing through. We were able to easily contact them about conditions there, which was a big help. It’s not a high-grade, modern property but the price reflects that and all the other factors make it worthwhile.

We had an incredible experience staying at this cottage! It was perfectly clean and had everything you could need including a great amount of hooks and plugs. This cottage brought nostalgic memories of visiting my grandparents cottage when I was a kid. I was so happy to give my kids the opportunity to make the same memories of going to the beach, playing on the huge lawn, searching for lizards and chasing chickens. The proximity to the beach can’t be beat. I especially appreciated all of the practical touches! I hope we have the opportunity to stay here again in the future.

The place is in the most incredible location. It was really easy to get to the beach and into town. There were also so many included items with beach chairs and towels etc. The only downside is the lack of conditioned air which is only an issue in the afternoon when the sun has been beating down for a few hours. It stays cool in the mornings and it cools off very quickly in the evenings. There was also some kitchen items (plates, pots, pans) that weren’t clean, but it wasn’t major and didn't impact our stay. We noticed that there was a fan that didn’t worked when we arrived and the host was incredibly responsive and we had a new fan in place very quickly. Overall, would recommend anyone stay here. Especially if your goal is to take advantage of the beach and relax for a few days.

Great location

The Chung cottage allows for easy walking to the beach and Hanalei. We enjoyed the partial mountain views from the patio. We would love to stay again.

Awesome Location

This little house is the best deal in Hanalei Bay. My brother, who has lived in the area for 40 years, couldn't believe what a deal we were getting. Highly recommend.

The Chung Cottage was an amazing home base for our adventures in Hanalei. The Cottage was very clean and had everything we needed for the week. Everything in the home was in working order. We Made use of the beach chairs and boogies boards daily. The porch was great place to sip coffee in the morning and chill out in the evenings The location is simply fantastic. 2 minutes to the beach and maybe five to the village. We would not hesitate to book again.

Great Location

Cottage is just a block from the beach which is a huge selling point, but the road and traffic can get noisy. It has basic amenities, and is clean and comfortable. The layout is a bit odd, with the shower separate from the upstairs bathroom, and the dining area down a few steps in the converted carport. Overall, worth the price.
